Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your video and I enjoy your polite responses to everyone in the comments. There are some doozies in there you're handling it well lol! Always love visiting portland, one of my favorite cities!
Thank you so much! It's amazing what people will say behind a keyboard. I channel my own positive energy and realize that person has something going on to be so negative, really not on me.
I visited last fall and didn't really see what the big deal was coming from Los Angeles. I guess it's relative.
I always liked the Pearl District/Downtown (especially Lardo but it moved?) but looking at the crime stats on niche feels like a disconnect.
It's hard to tell if the crimes are being committed against the vulnerable unhoused or not. Also a lot of the places I saved from my first trips before the pandemic are closed.
Portland seems like a no brainer since I'll have 600k cash but I still have suspicions/reservations.
Like you get what you pay for. Look at people who moved to TX and FL dealing with insurance.
We have a real-estate company and are posting this completely unbiased video that is in no way self-serving! 😂 (If you believe that they have a bridge to sell you)
A relator with a company that makes money in selling houses or property in Portland is not really an objective view..And they blame the problem is Portland was hit hard w COVID..what city wasn’t hit hard..
Most cities WERE hit hard by covid and Portland was no exception. . I actually have good insight into what's going on with the housing market and the dynamics of the city that effect the homes because I'm reading up on it and working in it every single day.
One of Portland's advantages over other large metros in the country is that it's a border town. Vancouver, WA offers many other tax options, schools, and neighborhoods with the proximity of what Portland has to offer. I've lived all over this metro area (including The 'Couve) and there's a great variety of areas.
Keep Portland Weird that's the Moto. Place is beautiful but very strange 😢
Honestly, you couldn't pay me enough to live there.
Great! I hope you enjoy the city you live in. I love it here.
My kids live in Vancouver, Washington across the river from Portland and there are way, way too many gray days up there.
I’m curious why they mainly stuck to walking alongside the river and the adjacent park? Why didn’t they go downtown and into the Central Business District?
Hey there holiday! Simple answer to that. I have other recent videos where I walk in the central business district (check them out) and this was a special moment for this area with the cherry blossoms. I wanted to highlight how beautiful some area are even though they are in a higher crime area.
Any interest in affordable housing and I'm not talking section 8? And what's going to be done with drug issues? Building more housing that is out of reach for basic folk like me, a teacher with 2 degrees.
affordable housing is a big issue on the west coast. Portland does have an incentive program to builders to build more affordable housing. They offer a lower price if you make under the 124k a year.
@@movingtoportlandoregon Yes I'm aware. I'm from the Bay Area and many of my family members live there. Are builders actually taking advantage of the incentive? I was there this past summer in July and Portland is in shambles and it breaks my heart. But the cost of living is is crazy. Too many political officials didn't do enough to stop this catastrophic housing crisis. I've been watching this happen for the last 20 years. Then to layer on the decriminalization of hard drugs was simply ignorant wishful thinking. Now I live is Phoenix and it's happening here. Frustrating because this can be prevented but people are simply too greedy and too many of our leaders don't do enough to strike a balance.
I live in Salem and will retire in a few years. Portland is too expensive for the value. The pandemic comounded a loy of problems that already existed. Portland has rhe challenge that other cities revored more in recent years and also offer quality of life. I have to drive in Portland and the street made closures from the pandemic make going to some neighborhoods like Sellwood very difficult. This makes parts of Portland inaccessible and sends a message that some people are less worthwhile, who needs rhis.
Hi David, I'm not sure exactly what your complaint about Portland is. If you don't enjoy the city I totally understand wanting to be further out and living in a smaller city. Thanks for watching!
@@movingtoportlandoregon
My complaint is in Portland it is becoming more and more difficult from one place to another. I lived in Chicago for 9 years and Fort Luaderdale for 4. Two different sized towns. Your thought that anyone who doesn't like Portland automatically doesn't like big cities is the attitude I also find annoying.
Hey David, one of the reasons I like Portland is because it is NOT a big city but rather a medium size city. Much easier from my perspective to get around vs a larger city in America. I realize it's all perspective and my comment isn't judging you if you read it. Have a great day!
I personally think Portland has already hit rock bottom.
Nah it could and its going to get worse. Leadership same old same old!
People blame the mayor Ted Wheeler for all the problems affecting the city, but they don't put themselves in his shoes. being a City Mayor is no easy job. there's a lot of obstacle like crime, homelessness, drugs, you name it, a mayor has to face when he or she takes office. Ted Wheeler is indeed leading the city in the right direction, and as a new Portland resident, I get behind him (support him),and I don't criticize his administration.
You have a real estate company in Portland, Oregon and you’re just there to do a unbiased report of where the city is going. Can you sound like a Democrat?
Can't we all get along? 🤔 - Thanks for watching a video on my youtube channel about Portland, this is my personal opinion through my experience living here. Hope you are having a great day!
Not interested in left wing extremist city. Sooner or later portland is going down the drain. Businesses have already shut down and moved to other states.
My daughter lives in Portland. Has for years. It's not getting better. Tents and used drug needles are moving to nicer areas. My daughter is very middle class, nice neighborhood. If you like people trying to break in, scratches on your car. Taking your dog to the vet because he stepped on a needle, then yes. Portland is for you.
OP, you're blowing air through your backside.
It's definitely getting better. Huge improvement from last summer.
@@movingtoportlandoregon Well we may not agree, but good on you for your optimism. I do think you may be doing folks a disservice. Vancouver WA is a much safer place.
