I was put in sex trafficking as a child from 4-14 now that I’m 16 it’s hard for me to trust others or even make friends and I struggle with a lot of mental illness

Oh my god you're right they should. Often times no one knows how to help or who to blame and this should be very important.
Or suicide ideation. I have often had suicidal thoughts in the past..but never acted on them..as a way of coping I could just imagined or drew myself dying or hurt....gruesome stuff but it kind of gave me a morbid relief and let out hose feeling without keeping it out on my body. It sounds really strange but it made me feel a lot better. I know I can’t act on those feelings for the sake of my loved ones, and I have a low self esteem and don’t really care about myself other than caring about people who care about me. It’s kind of a way to both kill the impulse by killing that imaginary me..nobody gets hurt and my feelings are laid out...then I just tuck them away with those other drawings and it’s a weight off my chest.

I hope you are also getting therapy to tackle your underlying problem of depression etc.

actually, prostitution can and often is due to trafficking, and the reasons that someone might 'willingly' become a prostitute are almost always completely out of a circumstance that the person feels they have no other choice, like by being threatened into it, to survive on the street after becoming homeless, or when circumstances or their environment make it nearly impossible to get a job, and they might have mouths to feed. stop and think- how many people do you REALLY believe do that job as a choice? im sure, statistically, there have been people who are like... i dunno.... untreated nymphomaniacs? The thing that I feel this video neglected, as well, is that often, people who are trafficked and prostituted have actually been kidnapped, drugged out of their mind, subjected to extreme violence... all in the effort to brainwash them into believing they have no choice. they're kept their by things such as 'Stockholm syndrome', the threat of violence or being killed, or even having someone they love like a child or pet or another circumstance held hostage.

I feel like more people should be here to learn and be aware of these things, not because they are remembering something that happened or trying to find out what to do when it happens. I'm very lucky that nothing like this has happened to me. It makes me feel angry thinking that schools don't even bring up things like this because these kids need to be aware! It's real life, and they will want to or have to no eventually. It may be a sensitive topic, but it's real.

I absolutely understand your confusion! In an ideal world, everyone would practice universal compassion for each other, and create relationships that are fair and respect everyone involved. Sometimes though, people can be abusive to others, whether it's for sexual behavior, money, or something else. This is how behaviors like human trafficking happen, which is why it's important for us all to be aware of it!

What is it?
Sex trafficking is usually when people are sold for sex to keep their homes. They usually don't get paid, but are forced to stay or they might get abused or hit violently, pushed out of their place and live on the streets (since usually the victims live with the traffickers and don't have a choice), or having someone else they love and care for go through punishment. It's horrible, and it's everywhere; it's too common and no one talks about it. You should look up TED talks or videos informing of this, since victims often end up traumatized and suffer PTSD, panic attacks, or get constant nightmares after what they suffered.
This happens to children and young women most commonly, and it affects the rest of their lives. Not enough people talk about this.
