In India, there is a tradition where they play the Indian National Anthem before the movie in all the cinema halls and everyone stands during the National Anthem. This was the only movie where the National Anthem was not played and everyone wondered why it was not played. That was because they wanted to keep it authentic and give audience the goosebumps at the end when they play the National Anthem after Geeta wins the gold. Everyone that went to the cinema halls to watch this movie stood up at the end for the National Anthem and it was a brilliant move by the movie makers. This movie is still the highest grossing Indian movie worldwide after it was released in China. We are still waiting for Pathaan and Jawan to be released in China to see if SRK can break this record created by Dangal...

there are so many favourite parts. But I will tell you the parts that i hated. What i hated was that they made the coach character such a one dimensional caricature . The real coach was not like that. The real coach had normal relationship with them, there was no such drama.
I am sure they added drama for the sake of story, but i am not sure it was needed.

He’s been making movies of substance and meaning and we always await his next venture.

I saw many foreigners reaction on Indian movies but the reaction this man gave is just on different level. I never saw anyone cried , cheered or got emotional the way he got. He just didn't enjoyed movie he lived this movie. He lived each and every moment of this movie. He was cheering as his own daughter wrestling really the reaction was awesome.....

But the sad part is that there was a protest of wrestler few months back where one party accused the wrestlers that they want direct entrance in the Olympics they don't want to go through the trial.. and the worst part is after that protest they didn't went for trial they directly entered into the Asian games and 80% wrestlers didn't able to even get a bronze medal..

I never gave a full look to this movie until today and i guess who had tears running down along side you Haha. It hits different because my father passed away in covid and he was the kind of dad that was strict and had that tough love. But I couldn't ask for a better father and this made me miss him so much.

Thankfully movies like these have sort of helped diversify the sports in India.
Now we have started to do better in other sports as well. Recent Asian Games and the name and fame to the athletes winning gold in those events have all been a reflection of our progress as a nation. Dangal by far is one of the Best films made ( and that too being a sports film ) over all especially one of the BEST FILMS from Bollywood. There are so many messages in the film….yeah some things people might not agree with especially a father pushing his dreams on his daughters instead of what the daughters want but it’s about a father actually doing something for his daughters that people will look up too…regardless the messaging might not come across properly especially to the western audiences but watch it as a movie and what it’s trying to convey.
Dangal absolutely portrays what a film making should be…excellent Script, excellent story telling, immaculate performances from everyone especially Aamir Khan who is known as Mr. Perfectionist is truly outstanding. BTW…you should definitely watch a behind the scenes video of how Aamir Khan transformed himself to an older out of shape father character. He chose to gain all the weight to be as accurate to his character and film the movie as an heavy weight person and then truly transformed himself back to the fit body building wrestler physics. He wanted to motivate himself to get back in the shape to film the younger version of his character. He didn’t want to shoot the younger version first and then gain all the weight to film the older version thinking that he might never have the courage to lose the weight again. This way if shoots the older first then HE HAS TO LOSE all the weight to film the younger versions of his character and most importantly get back to his origins physics. It is truly amazing how an actor could transform himself for a movie and a character.
Dangal is just an amazing movie and is Bollywood biggest Box Office success worldwide. China alone exceeds the entire worlds box office collections.
