his dominance on clay is so impressive to the point where people undermine his achievements on other surfaces cause his standard on clay is highest out of any athlete in any sport
Exactly
Very well said bro
Fed fan here...but that's so true!
Exactly, can't even imagine another player that will win 12, let alone 8, roland garros titles. Also, being able to win the french open 4 times in a row, then 5 times in a row, and currently 3 times in a row but it'll keep going.
And to play 12 finals at Roland garros winning all of them, including the fact to never been stretched to a 5h set in the final of RG. Its just scary.
"If I have to lose against someone, he's the man" -- respect between the GOATS
Something that the fanboys of both players should have. Pity to see them always argue about who's got the biggest racket.
*he is de man no?
Who said that quote? Respectful one...
Rafa said it in his speech in the end
No one will ever match this. His achievements on clay are eternal
Alex Fratelli I’m guessing you were among those folks who said the same thing of Guga before Rafa arrived.
Records are made to be broken.
Olayemi Chayah you kidding right?
Kuerten numbers on clay were great but nothing too unrealistic to think that couldnt be improved in the future by someone. Many of the Big3 records (separately), such as weeks as n1 or number of Grand Slams, are incredible but who knows maybe someone will beat them in the future, if has happened once (or three times in this case) can happen more. But Nadal numbers on Clay (Roland Garros, M1000, percentage of victories on this surface...) are too good to think that any of us will live to see someone beating them.
@@jorgecanos2378 we have 3 best players in this era and their records are still insane. Imagine someone even only as good as their 3/4 but without any rivals. Yeah, they could get more than those 3
@@jorgecanos2378 i don’t think so Nadal is one player in million years is like Messi or maradona or pele in football
When you are so good that by the time you lose for the next time, the video quality has improved
"If I ever had to lose against someone, he is the one, no" - I bet no other player would have had the humbleness to say that after having a 81 match winning streak.
didnt understand that phrase , my main lang isnt english tho
Phenomenal player just an absolute beast on clay he has 59 titles on that surface alone ridiculous stat👍
Also other 26 very important titles on the other two surfaces 👌
@@tennisradu yh it's insane 85 and counting
His first two Rome titles, 2005 and 2006 were absolutely crucial. His confidence and self-belief after these hardfought matches was unbreakable.
career 81 wins on clay means a decent tennis professional. 81 consecutive win is insane.
No other player had dominated a surface like Nadal had dominated clay.
Nobody else comes close. It's such a huge difference between him on clay and anyone else on any other surface in the last 30 years.
federer went like 5 years on grass without a loss, 60 something matches. theres just less grass tournaments so he couldn't get as many wins per season.
Roger dominates blue clay though😏
@@joshuathompson8132 federer is 0-3 vs novak in wimbledon finals
I was mainly talking about a single surface winning streak. I’m sure as Nadal ages someone will beat him at Rolland Garros and be able to claim a winning head to head it won’t diminish his dominance though.
people forget that Nadal has 7 grandslam titles on other surfaces as well, proving that he's very very potent on other surfaces as well. Even if you take away his clay achievements, he still achieved more than most players.
8 :-D
85 Tittles
19 Slams
35 Masters
6 Davis Cups
2 Olympic Gold Medals
20 ATP 500s
He was destroying Federer in his prime and won his first 6 Slams by beating him, won RG by beating Novak and Roger in straight sets consecutively and beat Roger at AO 3 times, both of them at WIM, and he beat Novak in 2 USO Finals, he never played Federer at the USO, if it weren't for so many injuries there wouldn't be a GOAT debate... He has the most mind boggling records in tennis and I think if he were to win WTFs and pass Roger in Slams you can say thay he really is the GOAT. I would still put him a bit above the other 2,no disrespect to Novak and Roger
Sorry but Novak is better

Jezzzzz....81 matches w/o loosing seems scary...it blows ur mind to see that a player has not lost on a surface for 81 consecutive matches....
By far the best clay player ever..
Thank You mr obvious
Young Nadal is like a video, never gets tired and gets and hits impossible shots
Nadal in Hamburg 2007 : if i have to lose against some one he's the man '' Federer ''
Federer in AO 2017 : Tennis is a tough sport there is no draws but if there was going to be one i would be very happy to accept the draw tonight and share it with Rafa
Unbelievable and never going to be eclipsed. Period.
Just Rafa doing what he does best:Winning on clay👑
He is the best tennis player in the history.
I love his banana shot👍👍👍👍
Jarkko Nieminen had a 6-4 3-1 lead against Nadal during this winning streak, impressive how close he got.
Without injuries would’ve cemented his place already with 21/22 or more slams. Also lost 6-7 opportunities at grand slams due to injuries. Born with tendinitis + recurring injuries meant he can’t slide on HC or GC as effectively as Roger or Novak, making him less competitive on those surfaces than the two above. If we had pre-2010 conditioned Nadal the H2H should/could be closer on HC than as it seems (Which we will never know). How this man continues to defy the normality when coming back from injuries cements him as one of the best ever.
Performances at Slams when he’s been injured EOY during the previous season:
2012 - Injured EOY. 2013 FO UO wins.
2016 - Injured EOY. 2017 FO UO wins.
2017 - Injured EOY. 2018 FO win.
2018 - Injured EOY. 2019 FO UO wins.
That’s 3 HC slams from comebacks against injury and people still nags about his HC records.
“Lets not taint achievements with subjectivity”
Nadal is Amazing. End of sentence.
2022 another grand slams in hard court after a injury in 2021
I knew Rafa was kick’in it on clay at that time, but an 81-match streak! Whew, that’s quite a record! We may not see the likes of it again. Another great b-day tribute 🎂.
The undisputed king of clay. 👑🐐
Hahahah that goat 👌
King of the clay ❤️ the best in the world ❤️ incredible RAFA❤️😍
Insane GOAT
Nadal was so great I thought that Roland Garros was played in Spain 🙉
Federer's grass court record streak, ended by Nadal
Nadal's clay court record streak, ended by Federer
Nadal ended Fed's Wimbledon streak. Not the other way round!
@@TheKakarot_itachi I'm still waiting him to lose in Roland Garros final. Who will do it? If any can beat him there? Novak? Yes, but in final, hardly.
@@gregorsamsa555 no he can't
@@gregorsamsa555 Novak lol, the guy is 1-6 at RG against Nadal and he lose to anybody in a good shape.
@@gregorsamsa555 why novak??? Obviously the only one who can beat nadal at RG sooner or later will be thiem for sure!
Rafa's favourite movie is Gladiator. He really played some Herculean matches in the Italian capital. Ferrer, Coria, Federer, Davydenko. Truly justifying his taste. 😊😊
81 matches in a row is insane. Imagine if Federer had beaten him in both 2006 French Open final and 2006 Rome final. To this day I still think they're two of many matches Federer should have won against Nadal, but to come from 2 match points down (like he did in the Rome final) just shows his will power and why he's so hard to beat on clay. It's not impossible obviously but very hard to do
Epic Video. Thanks
Phenomenal Nadal ! no one comes close !!
Happy Birthday King of Clay!
Absolutely stunning.
8:40 you can say that again (and again and again and again...)
We want this nadal back in 2021..
Nadal he is emperor of clay
This record will stand the test of time
How to beat Nadal on clay:
1.Start praying
great inside and great outside the pitch.A true champion.
He will always be My number one ❤
His comment at the end....Fedal forever!
Man I wonder what it felt like when he lose since it was like a whole yesr
It was a little more than 2 years...After this loss he won RG
Espectacular, jamás un sujeto dominó tanto una superficie.
Eran geniales las finales Federer Nadal 2006-2007 en tierra, el suizo se esmeró muchísimo y lo puso contra las cuerdas un par de veces pero Rey hay uno sólo.
Just because he's a GOD on clay doesn't mean he's not a beast on the other surfaces as well. #stopthebias
81-MATCH CONSECUTIVE WINNING STREAK,50-SET CONSECUTIVE WINNING STREAK,63 ATP TITLES ON CLAY(14 ROLAND GARROS,12 BARCELONA,11 MONTE-CARLO,10 ROME,5 MADRID AND 11 OTHERS).
RAFA=CLAY
Vilas had the previous record with 53 wins. Nadal really obliterated it!!
And Federer 65 on grass
hey nice highlights Tennis TV, well done!
that last match, hamburg open was it? was that played after Wimbledon like it is done nowadays?
No, it was played before wimby back then.
Hard one to swallow, Rafa was better in 2005-07 than in 2014 onwards.
He is more complete now as a player
No I'm pretty confident 2017 would trash pre 2008 Rafa.
He is waaaay more complete now especially on serve, volley and backhand
Radu Goran and absolutely unable to defeat Novak or Roger outside of clay.
ThexCookieMan Same could be said about Roger but both are slower with weaker forehands. Being more complete doesn't necessarily make them better players.
He has a better volley now & comes in/attacks more, but he’s lost a LOT of speed & can’t hit his backhand like he used to. In 2008-2010 his backhand almost felt like a second forehand, especially when he ripped it crosscourt. 2017 Rafa was great but not as good as he used to be.
It's only fitting that Federer was the one to break his streak
unbelievable
Oh my favorite player 81st win phenomenal. lost against great Roger
Unreal. Nadal's peak can't be matched with anyone. Period...!!!
That streak would still be going without Federer around.
Im not really the biggest rafa fan but man this shit is historical🙌
Elpartido vs coria en roma 2005... Vaya partidazo levanta
This record will never be broken..
Wow, davydenko gave him a really tough match as did hewitt.
But Nadal was a physical monster in his younger days. These are surreal numbers (81 match win streak, 14 french opens so far). Mt Olympus on clay. Just no words to describe this achievement on the toughest surface and toughest slam
7:05 is that Federer driving himself and Rafa to their upcoming match?!! What on Earth??
12:24 I couldn’t see what was going on...😳
Actually Chris Evert has a record of 125 clay court match wins in a row. None the less, Rafa is truly remarkable
Campione gentiluomo!

Watching this again in march 2022..It’s amazing how dominant Rafa was against Roger when Roger was at his peak …yes Novak has better head to head against both but by that time Roger was way beyond his prime & Rafa also was going through many injuries, but fair to Novak coz he has been the best player in last 5,6 years & he peaked late…this man has given us some of the best rivalries of tennis history,1st against Roger, then Novak & now Medvedev & he has been involved in some of the best matches of tennis history….(AO 2012,2022)(wimb 2008 & 2018 semis against Novak)(US open 2019)(RG 2013 & 2021 semis)
uso 2010 and 2013 finals against novak way higher quality imo, with both novak and rafa at their peak and prime.
King of all courts - undisputed GOAT in tennis. GS win ratio among the Big 3 - Rafa's HC wins - 55% of Roger, 50% of Novak. Grass - 25% of Roger, 29% of Novak. Clay - Roger is 7% of Rafa, Novak is 14% of Rafa. Rafa's dominance on clay will probably never be surpassed in tennis history. Roger's and Novak's records on the other surfaces are very good but I wouldn't call them dominant if you compare them to the records of past tennis greats!
Coria’s handshakes were cold
Nadal is Nadal..❤
How the hell did Federer manage to bagel him in the 3rd set 😮
complete exhaustion
Hewitt helped by draining much of the energy of Nadal in SF
Rafa really should not have played Hamburg in 2007. He was visibly tired after winning Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome in a row. With each match in Hamburg, he was slowing down more and more. The SF against Hewitt was the final nail in the coffin, and after the first set in the final against Roger, he was running on fumes. If he hadn't played Hamburg in 2007, the winning streak would probably have crossed 100 (considering his only loss on clay in 2008 was in Rome due to debilitating foot blisters against Juan Carlos Ferrero).
beasttttttttttly
Nadal is a freak of nature. Unreal.
12 dislikes are Djokovic fans
Ombilibable...
CLAY GOAT!
❤️
Did masters 1000s used to be 3 setters?
Clay court prince
Federer stop Nadal's clay Winning Streak, and Nadal stop Federer's grass'. LEGEND.
His stamina is just unfair. You can tell he could probably play 10 set matches.
Does anyone know how many clay matches he won in a row after the loss to Federer?
He won 22 in a row until he lost against Ferrero in Rome 2008
The ultimate grinder..
Me: THE WHAAAAT!?
Also me: Vamos Rafa!!!
Honest question, what is the 2nd longest winning streak in Clay?? If it is still Nadal, who is it not named Nadal own the next longest winning streak in clay??
The second one is also Nadal’s, I remember it was over 70 matches from a couple of years ago, Vilas had the previous record with 53.
Who beat him
Fitting that Roger end his run, just like Rafa end his Wimbledon reign in 2008
It's better than Undertaker's streak I think 😂😂
Who else to stop the King of Clay but Federer or Djokovic back in those days..
lol did you really not show nadal first grand slam title?
ftf has a copyright on them, the ATP tour can’t use GS footage in their videos
Nadal champions
9:46 Federer and 40-15....
Can someone tell he don't like NADAL ? Noooo
125 match wins on clay .... Chris Evert... 1973-1979

Who cares about WTA, especially from a pathetic era like the 70s lol. Those moonballing pushers wouldn't win anything today
She skipped French Open many times during that period though.

Claydal. Good on clay avrage on other surface

@@Punkster556 Rafa has more US Open titles than Djoker, he leads Djoker 2-1 in US Open and leads Fed 3-1 at AO. Rafa has beaten Fed in Wimbledon, not the opposite. Rafa has pushed Novak to 5th set in AO final (was the first to do so), not the opposite. In other words, Rafa dominates his surface by far (I'm not giving you the H2H at Roland Garros It's brutal) but he is close to the other GOATS in other surfaces, any more proof ?? Djoker and Fed have only 1 Roland Garros title each and the year they won the tournament they didn't beat Rafa. I'm waiting for some better arguments
81 wins in row? Where was federer in that time from 2005-2007. Why roger had not prevented nadal in this years. Ahhhh i think federer was in that time to old, injury or not in his prime etc

Federer's most dominant year ever was 2006
Travis Bickle spot on
i'm only impressed with undefeated record on blue clay
It ended by Federer in Hamburg 2007 lol
Since 2011 Nadal - Djokovic on clay is 11-8.
Now that's impressive.
why did prime federer allow nadal to win 81 times in row on clay. Djokovic prime would never allow this. ...
Travis Bickle Prime Djokovic was 0-3 at RG against prime Nadal.
Ombeleble no?
Claydal for a reason. Typical specialist. Djokovic has won every big title (4 slams,9 masters and the tour finals 2+ times each). Claydal has 11 monte carlo,10 Rome,14 RG titles and 0 titles in Miami,Shanghai,Bercy, tour finals and 1 title in cincinnati. One trick pony.
Claydal won 2 AO, 4 USO, 2 WB, 3 Indian Wells, 5 Canada, 1 Madrid (indoor), 1 Cincinnati and 1 Olympic gold medal. 19 big titles outside of clay. Not bad for a "clay specialist".
Pathetic jealous Novak fans lol 😂
Well- only 44 wins shy of Chris Evert's record, 125...and she skipped the French 3 times during that span to play World Team Tennis- because it was more important to the sport than the French was back then.
Female tennis is SO different from male one,and in 70s...come on
that why is federer the GOAT, because he allow nadal to win 81 matches on row..but everbody knows roger was in that time to old for tennis
