The new Kia Cee'd is more of a rival than ever before for the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. It's a stylish, spacious small family car with a quality interior, lots of equipment and economical engines. And, of course, there's Kia's excellent buying package that includes a seven year warranty. The ride errs on the side of comfort rather than sportiness, which is no bad thing, but there is a slightly firm edge to it on poor road surfaces. Engines available are two petrols and two diesels -- a 1.4 and 1.6 in both -- while there's only the one five-door body style at the moment. The boot is bigger than in a Ford Focus, while space in the back for adults is above average -- there's lots of leg and head room. The biggest disappointment is the steering, which feels overly light.

I love my cee'd and my husband is now replacing his golf for the pro cee'd version just because it has impressed us both so much. We've driven a variety of hatchbacks small and large including the focus, golf, astra, corsa, fiesta, yaris, i30 and polo - this one runs circles around them combined. I'm typically filling the tank for around £65 and getting between 650-700 miles from that. I cannot fault this car.

New Kia Cee'd is amazing car. I own old model and I never had a single issue with it. I know we all suffer from that badge in the front but with new Kia Cee'd you have amazing warranty, good quality and it looks better than VW Golf

I rented one last week and I must say I was really impressed with the mileage - I travelled 740 miles on a round trip and found it very cheap in terms of fuel and was nice in comfort. Surprising really, because I'm a guy who normally hires Mercedes E class cars - just this time the rental company had none available. I think when things pick up for me financially I may buy one.

I sat in a new Kia Ceed 2012 recently, and I must say I am impressed of the feel of quality in the interior, I dare say it is up there with the Golf, and the design is very nice on the inside and outside.
Nice price on the options too, this car and brand equals and exeed others in this segment. When the question "what car do you have" comes, many, especially younger, would like to answer Audi, VW, brands that have prestige to its name, but this car is up there with them, and a 7 year warranty..

I brought a new one. But have to wait 9 days until car dealer deliver it to me :). I am excited, and on an adrenaline rush for at least a month. I tested it in a dealer, and i confirm this review. Handling is easy. Electronic pedals make driving very very easy. I never had my own car before, but this one handled so well, i did not make one mistake during testing drive. In every other car, even older kia ceed type, i either used too much acceleration, or too little. So you would not have problem to push the acceleration accuratelly with no experience. Gearing in citroen c4 was unprecise, in ceed it is quite precise. Compared to c4 test drive, it is far far easier to handle. The only thing i think c4 outperforms this car is, c4 looks a more classy inside. Hydraulics makes shitty road a comfortable experience. Audio is i think standard. Kia looks better than c4 from outside. Kia ceed also looks very good with 15 inch wheels.

I keep the steering on sport mode all the time. I have the SW version and I just like the weight of the steering to match the weight of the car. I find Normal and Comfort much to light and disconnects me from the road. Love the car though. The only down side that it's a little sluggish when overtaking. It's a 1.6 Diesel, my first, so I don't know if this is a Diesel thing or that the engine capacity would ideally be better in the SW...

I bought this exact car today and love it. Huge inside and stylish on the outside. Economy is stunning too.
One thing I will say about cars been fun to drive is that 100% encourages dangerous driving. I really like the fact this Kia is more about practicality. It's a fact that performance cars encourage faster acceleration, faster speeds on motorways, and higher risk moves like overtaking on single lane roads. The more fun to drive a car is the greater likelihood this will happen. I don't want a fun car, I want a safe car!

Usually all new models are slightly more expensive than the previous but in my country Kia, aswell as Hyundai, tend to reduce the price for 10-20% in the next year or two.
There is no question that Kia and Hyundai made a huge leap in quality over the years.
In my opinion Ceed and i30 are one of the best in that segment.

I have a Hyundai Accent, 2007, and it is still working like day one, great!! just regular maintenance, and it has run over 115000 Km, it is 6 years old now and I cant complaint about it. I also have a Honda CR-V, very reliable, like every Honda I have owned, I used to have a 1984 Civic. So you can have an Idea of what I spect from a car. I have friends withToyota Yaris, and they got problems. This is 2012, no major car maker can afford being unreliable.

The B class is in the service center for a transmission failure, and I have to drive her to work each morning in my sturdy Kia of three years. The days of Korean unreliability are over and done with. Besides, you get a massive warranty... try a Kia, you might like it, and the same goes for Skoda :)

The Golf's non-turbo diesel is actually slower than the Hyundai Engine in the Kia (105BHP vs 126BHP) - the newly announced Kia Ceed GT will have a 1.6 Turbo 204BHP engine and cost around the same as a Golf GT (who's 2.0L engine is only 150BHP). Plus, a Golf with the same spec as the Ceed 4 Tech costs a whopping £4000 more!

Great car great warranty .One problem though you have to get it serviced at the Kia main dealer to maintain that warranty .The labour costs over 7 years compared to my small garage will mean that in money terms you dont gain anything over a vehicle that needed a few more repairs. It would be a brilliant deal if you could service to the required standard where you wanted to

Depreciation is a problem, but kia is getting bigger and better with each car that make so it is a matter of time when this problem disappears. As for the steering wheel this is a model for the right hand market, there is a model for the left hand market as well. It's a great car with a 7-year warranty, and those are the facts :)

he said that SOME people are going to want a golf because of the vw badge. basically he said that snobs will drive a golf because they think its important to have a vw badge. if you look at the kia rio review, you'll see he tries to not mark a car down cause of its badge. he was just noting that some people won't like the badge on it.

Great review as always and good car also, but I still prefer new i30 much more than this Kia.

the visibility from that car is so much better than the others like the sportage and the rio! but the seat quality and carpets look very cheap and somehow remind you that you are indeed in a Kia!

Thats the point, what is the idea on having a car that will ask for more than a regular maintenance? I have a Hyundai, 6 years old 120000+ Km and it still runs like day one! And If you dont believe a Japanese car can last that long, I had a 1984 Honda Civic, and I sold it 2 or 3 years ago, running and working like a swiss clock. Thats why I say that I drive cars, not brands. European cars are good, but they need to improve their reliability. You gotta accept it, most of them dont have that fame.
