  • "A dingo’s got my baby."
Five words that will forever divide a nation. The tragic death of a baby girl in outback Australia that at one point in time became a T-Shirt slogan, a punchline; the trial one of the most publicised in our history.
On the eve of the 40th anniversary of Azaria Chamberlain's disappearance and the greatest miscarriage of justice in Australian criminal history, a major investigation from the 7NEWS Spotlight team, led by award-winning investigative journalist Denham Hitchcock, unearths the secret police tape recordings never broadcast.

Part of the issue with the 48% stubbornly refusing to accept the Chamberlain’s innocence is the extreme secularism of Australian society and the subconscious/unconscious bias against devout Christians and Christianity itself. They more or less, on a subconscious level, disliked (or even hated) the Chamberlain’s from the beginning. And 95% of human beings find admitting an error to be somewhere between challenging or difficult to almost an impossible task.

About two years ago now, there was a well known case of a dingo dragging a toddler from a camper trailer late at night while his family slept on Fraser Island, luckily the child’s panicked screams awoke his father, who fought the dingo off (noting that he’d seen several more lurking in the bushland). The toddler had to be flown from Hervey Bay Hospital to Brisbane Children’s Hospital as he’d suffered a fractured skull, two deep lacerations to the back of his neck and head, and several minor lacerations to the back of the scalp (the boy was 14 months old, now imagine the injuries that a nine week old baby would suffer). Paramedics believe that the dingo had gotten inside by slipping under the canvas of the trailer. Ironically the headline for the article in the Sunday Mail stated “A Dingo Took The Baby” with the author noting towards the end of the article that it’s yet another case that proves that Lindy Chamberlain was indeed an innocent woman.

What I want to know is how official reports are using the terminology "fetal blood"... A baby that has been born is not a fetus? It just sounds like someone trying to make something sound legit with the most scientific vocab they can think of ... But failing...

They pushed the narrative and agenda of the law enforcement in charge and they were relentless. The media preyed on a public easily susceptible to manipulation due to grief and a need for answers upon hearing such a horrific story... and the media knew it. They are so much worse today. In the USA the mainstream media is finally circling the drain. No one believes them anymore. Our once major news shows like CNN have almost no viewership and are finally collapsing. Without ever having the opportunity to grieve their horrific loss, they immediately had to defend themselves against a complete media frenzy, that was designed to show that they were guilty.
This couple did *NOT* stand a snowball's chance in hell against that kind of media frenzy.
The media and the police were responsible for destroying this couple's marriage, family, lives, and their faith and trust in their judicial system. *NO* amount of damages could *EVER* compensate them for what they went through.
I personally, believe that the media should have been sued for the damages that they are responsible for creating in this situation. The money will *NEVER* be enough to ever compensate them, but it would send a message to the media that they will be held accountable for the things that they print, so they had better be sure that what they print is the *TRUTH!!!*

It’s surprising to me how they both seems to be a very supportive, emotionaly steady, in love young couple who are nothing but resigned about their daughter’s fate, that seems to be what got an entire country full of disturbed people confused and enraged towards them. As someone said: people fears of the unknown

I lived in Oz during all this and was at a huge gathering at Uluru in 1984, and whilst there we camped within throwing distance of the rock I noticed just how friendly those dogs there were. They were uncanny and obviously very familiar with people because a lot of people were living there in old cars and such. I was in the: she's innocent mob (because I couldn't believe it was possible for Lindy to have done this) when all around me the Australians were baying for her blood. Not Australia's finest hour.

The damage that was done to the surviving children too loosing their sister then their Mum, not to mention the parents themselves, absolutely inexcusable!! Wow!! Most importantly shame shame shame on the Judges!!!! Judges are the final review based on the evidence they make final decision, based on the evidence presented. In the US they make decisions BUT most important have the job of oversight of the process & police & oversight of what the jury hears and sees and whether the verdict is actually reasonable from the evidence. Then there r appeals court judges, oversee the conviction. Judges are the final jurors and YET they fail in that duty.

Next day we found shells outside as a hole in my wall did not convince the sheriff so I called them back. Not the first time someone had commented on my being very calm in disturbing circumstances. Sorry folks...just the way I was raised and my professional training and experience. I react after the event is over in order to keep in control when necessary to function. The Mom had two other young children to care for....and she did not fall to pieces like people wanted her to .
