  • Giving you all a tour of my sweet ride, my Lexus in Sheep's skin. The 2003 Toyota Avalon is highly underrated.
    It has 139,000 Mileage and still drives like brand new. My previous car was a 2010 Honda Civic and I tell you that I love driving my 2003 Avalon better.
    To not miss out on the new tech features that younger car models have, I upgraded my 2003 Avalon to include the essentials; Apple car play, rear view camera and upgraded sound systems. Now I am proud to say, I drive a 2021 Toyota Avalon ish ........lol.

    Love my 03 XLS! In addition to the aforementioned mods, I had my 67,000 mile car detailed, ceramic coated, ceramic window tint all around, new Michelins, new double-din Pioneer (with back-up camera) and led lights inside. I intend to be friends with this driving dream for a loooong time!

    I have a 2000 with 367,000 miles on it. I've neglected repairs on it for years in college. The power steering and the AC went out but that sucker still goes. I honestly liked the JBL sound system better than a 2020 Camry simply because of the Avalon's subwoofer.

      @@giwasrides3663 I'm trying to figure out where the heated seats button is on my 2004 Avalon. I thought they changed 2004 a little, but mine looks like yours as far as I can tell. Have almost 149,000 on mine. Just bought it about 1 month ago for about $5200 tho when I pay it off early, it'll drop most of interest. Put $2000 down and already paid $1700 so I'll have it paid off in May. Did have to put your rod ends on week ago, and it needs tires and front end alignment. The back seat is very roomy & comfy. I take a nap in mine almost everyday at lunch. Finally checked trans fluid today, nice, full & clean. Only had 2 owners before me, one from new till 08, then 2nd from '08 till like Sept 2021 when they traded it in at Lexus dealer. It's still like new inside except for one little 4 inch rip in driver's seat. No cracks in dash at all. Seems everything works but cruise. Only thing I hate is no manual for it. Seems idle air control module, think that's what it's called, is sticking once in awhile. Need to try cleaner but it's only stuck like 3-4 times in month. I loved my 2002 Infiniti, but I love this one more! Drives like a dream but will be better with new tires/alignment! And need to replace our fix sub woofer as it crackles.

    • @celizabethteal1444
      @celizabethteal1444 Před 2 lety

      Should be tie rod ends and fix or replace sub woofer! Forgot to mention I live in FL and this has been FL car from the beginning. Being it's not the sportiest of cars, do you think it would look crazy to put lights underneath? I always planned to put them on my Infiniti but never got the chance. Also want rain guards that to me make it look a bit sportier. And later, a bit darker tint. Would like to get bigger rims/tires, but guess that's too costly plus those little tires that go on bigger rims I hear ride rough.

    And it's not real wood interior trim - it's plastic. I know, because I own one and have been completely through the car fixing everything there is to be fixed and replaced every rotating and articulating component in the suspension, so it actually IS a brand new 17 year-old car.

    2000 Avalon: When installing the reverse camera, what wires did you tap into? My brake light is all I have. The three wires are white/black stripe, green, and green/white stripe. Is the positive green/white stripe?

      the jbl sound system is great. the subwoofer is usually the first to go out. you can upgrade the subwoofer if youre having problems with it. ill just upgrade the sound system. get something with carplay or android auto

      Best way to avoid knocks and pings is to keep the tops of the pistons free of carbon build-up. You do that by running the crap out of it ever-so-often.

    I found a very nice driving 2003 Avalon XL last year, with leather, alloy wheels, and JBL with only 70K on the clock. It has just short of 100K on the clock now and has been mostly trouble free, except for front calipers, which I suspect got sticky from sitting too long. I suspect is was originally an elderly persons car, as it had a recent timing belt and serpentine belt change, but minor body damage, , and the obligatory crumbling rear subwoofer, which was fixed and the car repainted before I took delivery. After the dealer and I got everything sorted out, it has been flawless. I want to keep it basically unmolested, but after living with the JBL for a year and a half and seeing what you did with the back up camera and head unit, I would kind of like to upgrade that, and change out the cheap Toyo tires on it to something that rides quiet, and has good grip.
