he's just a vocal bird - sometimes 'yells' too. the other parrotlet i have learned to talk from koolaid but it's watered down version. i had koolaid as the only bird for a whole year & spent alot of time w/ him. he started with saying "beep beep beep" :p
@Slightlyinsane16 thank u very much :) woo sounds like fun! my friend breeds parrotlets & they are just sooo adorable as babies! hope u get some nice colors :)
Just browsing through these videos again to relive some of the memories with the birbs, I'm so sorry for your loss. I stumbled upon your videos when I was looking for some relief from losing my Budgie at the age of 13 in 2012, he passed away in my hands after all those years ): Now seeing that Koolaid, the only birb next to Bowie that made me smile during that time, has passed away as well was heartbreaking. I wish you all the best and much love from a fellow birb owner! May Koolaid rest easy, small boi will be missed, thank you for all the good times!
Yup this is one of the first videos I took.It was bad lighting conditions & the digital camera I was using (12mgpixel) doesn't take lighting into account. Plus CZcams didn't have the Enhancement function yet. I use my IPhone4S right now, and it's pretty good to take short videos even in bad light. & yes that's koolaid:)
@mrazwordplay wow thank u! yes birds are so amazing when they learn to talk...some things they say aren't just a coincidence! It makes me happy that people (and birds) get enjoyment out of these videos! hope your parrotlet is doing well...sometimes the vocal ones are not quiet when u want them to be!
@con0h did i reply to this? thanks, he started talking at 2 months, i think he's just a very vocal bird & picks up tones & intonations easily so he just needs something to copy haha. yup, it's good to get tips from different sources - books, internet, people...i did lots of research on parrotlets before, during and after I bought them - irns & conures too. then you get to know what birds are all about & then u can trust your instincts with everythign else you do for them :))
Awe...Koolaid is so smart & funny. I love to watch him, he's an awesome little guy. Ty for sharing him, & all ur birds w/us. They have alot of fans. We enjoy them so much! Thanx again :)
Joanne, I love watching your videos - your birds and their disctinctly unique personalities are a joy to watch and never fail to cheer me up if I'm feeling down.
Thank you for posting all your Koolaid videos. My parrotlet especially likes this one. He is four months old and says "over here", "what are you doing", "peek-a-boo", "how are you", "pretty bird" and "tickle, tickle". Thanks for the help getting him started Koolaid (you're so adorable)!
What a sweetheart. I have a male and female parrotlet. My male Parry says pretty pretty bird, cookie, laughs, whistles like my friend does and rarely mimics a burp. I love your Koolaid
What a little doll! So loquacious, too! My male says "Beby, baby, baby,", and picked up the whistling game from my Timneh. We're working on 'Mommy's baby now," and "Hello."
OMG! I had these little guys for years till I got deployed. Never an intelligble syllable. I even had them in the same room as my greys. Miss my little guys. They are something else.
Koolaid will be 2 yrs old this May...he started talking at 2 months. Yup, he's always been abnormally chatty :p I always talk to my birds like they're 2 yr olds :) good luck with yours!
ah, yes, the damn bitey phase. well, I know some birds can just get bitey all over again :/ I do agree with the training at night, which is what I did with most of my untamed birds - it's great, I feel bad they can't see, but it's a quick way for them to bond to you cuz they have no choice lol
Yeah it sounds like she's just going through a bad bitey phase. Koolaid was very bitey also for a few months when I first got him. It's their way of trying to gain what little control they have over their human. If you keep ignoring it (no yelling or punishment no matter how much it hurts), and reward her for the good things she does, she will eventually stop biting. Most birds go through this. Good luck:)
@alliewuzhere keep talking! Read through some of the posts on the video of Koolaid playing Peekaboo...I explain that it's the tone & sound of the words, simple ones. They're also more vocal when they're happy/excited. give a treat if they mimic you.
@dontlookitsurface it requires patience and a lot of training. It helped that koolaid was hand-tamed. I also looked up stuff on the internet & got to know bird behavior. you move slow around them, get them to trust your hand by giving treats etc.
@KimonoHire haha yeah i didn't know what it was until the breeder told me it's him regurgitating food...they do that when they're excited etc...and now he does it to feed smokey & her soon-to-be babies :)
@KNB123100 aww, thank u so much. He can be a little monster sometimes but that's because i have spoiled him when he was my only bird. So it's made him very smart since he's been exposed to a lot of things when he was a baby. Parrotlets are very cute. Conures are very smart as well, but they are much much cuddlier than parrotlets.
@TheFirebird23 I find that they won't eat stuff if it's right in front of them. since birds like to forage, if you 'hide' it, or you have something they want, they're more likely to want it and try to get it. or you can try mixing the different food with something they like (ie. millet).
@wysefiona sort of but not really. first of all, they'd never find 'cooked' eggs in the wild. They eat what we give them. 2nd, chickens are a different species (not that it matters cuz they are really both considered 'birds'. Having said that, different species eat ea other. So do we. Maybe we taste good cooked too! nah!!! :p
@arully123 Depends on the bird. Koolaid started talking at 2 months -he said 'kiss kiss'. my Ringneck (larger yellow one) took about 8 months. I hear it takes longer for bigger birds.
@karion63 thx, yes he is talking. i talk clear & slow to him so maybe he picked it up like that. he also is an abnormally talkative bird, so not really the norm i don't think..
@zarynkristel thank u, ur teeco is very cute, he is a chatter box as well haha. i always wanted a blue parrotlet but ended up getting the white instead :)
@angelhuman97 hm depends onn the individual bird...some wont' talk at all. Males are more inclined to talk. And if they're very vocal. Koolaid started at 8 weeks. Some at a few months.
@jxh0703 We actually couldn't find any parrotlets for sale in our area. The breeder we were gonna get our parrotlet from didn't have any luck breeding her pair that she had. We ended up getting a green cheek conure instead. He's such a sweet bird! :)
I was so lucky, my Amazon never had a biting stage. She just one day suddenly bonded and that was it. She made like she would bite anyone else, but no one took the chance. I now have a formerly tame cockatiel who is biting me, but that's my fault because I didn't handle her enough. I tamed my parakeet in one night by sitting in mostly dark with her so she couldn't fly and just having her allow me to touch her. I'm trying the same with my tiel. Those bites hurt!
I suggest doing some research on any breeders in your local area. There are also some popular websites on the internet depending on where you live, they may ship if you';re interested in that. for ex: littletweets, com In Canada Parrotlets range from $150 to around $250 - depending on colour/mutation, Green being the normal colour. Also make sure you do some findings on what a healthy parrotlet looks like.
@xxLabrat407xx I know! i thought it was just a dance too until i asked his breeder...and then finally saw him feeding smokey...i think it's in one of my other vids.
@Parrotletmommy he just might! apparently Koolaid's voice has taught some other parrotlets! good luck! or just talk lots to your little guy, use simple words & make it like a melody. i know i sound nuts sometimes talking to them but they like that :)
Is it common for parrotlets to speak so clearly? He's very talented.

yes, apparently it's them regurgitating for food when they wiggle their neck! so i guess he's extra excited in this video cuz there's no bird to feed!
The start of it all. I miss koolaid so much.
Miss him too
Was this the fist video?
@@karag4487 yes
Koolaid is such a ball of energy! I love him!
@@hamburgerhamburger4064 yep
What is his cute wiggly dance? I LOVE him.
Sandra P. I think it has to do with regurgitating the food but I assumed it was only if he was feeding babies
awww, when you hold the egg up he looks like he's dancing :D
he's actually regurgitating food up...they do that when they're excited or realloy like somethign or someone
he's just a vocal bird - sometimes 'yells' too. the other parrotlet i have learned to talk from koolaid but it's watered down version. i had koolaid as the only bird for a whole year & spent alot of time w/ him. he started with saying "beep beep beep" :p

really?! that's so cute. i bet they know each other's a parrotlet & that the sound is an excited crazy one haha :)
seriously? good job!
haha maybe koolaid should be an avian teacher for parrotlets :p he's almost got his certificate for 60 words.

Rip that cute little bird of yours
He will enjoy his life in heaven..
Thats like candy to a bird. Its what they lived on in the shell. He seems like such a cool little guy.
That's so interesting!
I know, he's nuts!!
Koolaid is so so cute but he is so freaking crazy and so silly
Hahahaa I love that little dance he does! XD

Lol!! He really likes eggs!
Haha, the "beep beep beep" at the end was the best part. He was spot-on.
yeah birds learn from each other too! i swear my ringeck started talking cuz of my parrotlet!
Oh sweet little funny goofy young Koolaid... I love you so. You're my sweetest little angel birdie. ☁ 😇 ☁
You will always be remembered dearly.🌈 💋💚💙🐦
What a cute little guy. He is rather comical.

That lil head shake is what my male does when he first sees my female lol
ibpest when koolaid saw his baby he did that too
Joanne, I love watching your videos - your birds and their disctinctly unique personalities are a joy to watch and never fail to cheer me up if I'm feeling down.
+Joanne Gray thanks Joanne! That always makes my day when I hear how my birds cheer up so many people! ❤️
He is a cutie pie. My little parrotlet learned some words from me, but most of his vocabulary came from the Senegal that shares his room.

Such s loving nice dancing talking, cute in everyway!!!

Omigosh, it looked like Koolaid was doing the happy dance while he ate!
Very entertaining cute bird-Koolaid! 🐦💛🐤
@brantze WOW really?! Congratulations!
wow so many birds have learned from Koolaid...he is quite the chatter box :p
LOL!!!!! This birdie is too cute! It's amazing the way it mimiced everything you said!
He is saying silly bird, silly bird 19 and 20 seconds into the video. So smart!
@AvgStop yeah he was in one of his psycho crazy moods. i often wondered that myself - the wings - maybe it takes a lot of energy to say the words lol
OMG! I had these little guys for years till I got deployed. Never an intelligble syllable. I even had them in the same room as my greys. Miss my little guys. They are something else.
omg the "beepbeepbeep" lol!
OMG! Koolaid has the best voice & brain to use it, EVER! Silly bird. Scratch scratch is so original!! Mine wouldn't even touch fruits or veggies.
Koolaid will be 2 yrs old this May...he started talking at 2 months. Yup, he's always been abnormally chatty :p
I always talk to my birds like they're 2 yr olds :) good luck with yours!
My parrotlet used to love eggy birdie treat sticks :')
@pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR yes these type of birds are pretty smart!
What are you doing silly bird 😂😂😂
My parrotlet Apple enjoys watching all the Koolaid videos. I think she may be in love! Wendy
I love this video...LOL especially the way his whole little body just quivers when he takes a bite...:-) too cute!!!
@Chamasofull Koolaid is my second bird. Kiwi was the first one (the budgie who passed away this June)
ah, yes, the damn bitey phase. well, I know some birds can just get bitey all over again :/ I do agree with the training at night, which is what I did with most of my untamed birds - it's great, I feel bad they can't see, but it's a quick way for them to bond to you cuz they have no choice lol

I have to think that your birds learn to talk so well -- partly -- because of the musicality of your voice. Their antics are SUCH fun!
@alliewuzhere keep talking! Read through some of the posts on the video of Koolaid playing Peekaboo...I explain that it's the tone & sound of the words, simple ones. They're also more vocal when they're happy/excited. give a treat if they mimic you.

I like the parts when he moves his face like crazy!

Wow! Koolaid is such a great talker!
@TheFirebird23

I made myself a deviled egg and my parrotlet went crazy for it. He kept wanting to feed it and sing to it. He cares nothing for scrambled eggs 🥚
@colejm22 aw, glad u had a good time with them. they can be a ruckus in comparison to my ringneck, but they're all very cute anyway:)
Silly bird 😂😊😊❤
That wiggle is so funny!
This is amazing! I can't wait to get my Parrotlet! :D
@zarynkristel thank u, ur teeco is very cute, he is a chatter box as well haha. i always wanted a blue parrotlet but ended up getting the white instead :)
he went spaz over that egg
@angelhuman97 hm depends onn the individual bird...some wont' talk at all. Males are more inclined to talk. And if they're very vocal. Koolaid started at 8 weeks. Some at a few months.

Lol, I have no idea why I keep watching this video... So Funny! Wonder why parrotlets have to open their wings for every word they squeak out.
@xxLabrat407xx Thanks, He was about a year and a half old :)
All birds are funny :)
Oh gosh that's hilarious. My little boy is busting laughing.
Super cute
Offering him to eat some egg is attempting cannibalism for him
@JEHZIBEL Thank you! Hugs to your Petunia!
amazing and he is so cute =)

Cute zumba dance koolaid

My Fisher's lovebird says Your'e a good boy and whatcha doing too. At the most appropriate moments!
