Some part of this is the fact that the UK was interested in older American blues musicians who could not get work in the record-selling/(white) pop focused USA. Those young guitarists were buying records and tickets for Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Sister Rosetta Tharpe - they saw the value perhaps more than the audience in these artists own backyards
