Taylor did an excellent job in this video! He was very engaging and entertaining, while not being loud or overbearing. He’s clearly very passionate about magic and has excellent video presence! I hope we get to see more interviews with him in future set reveals.
Only reason I'm even watching this is because of Deborah. She's awesome, and a great DM!

I'll be honest, I would have watched this even without her in it, but I was SO thrilled when I saw her on screen. I love her work!

New mechanic: Training
Mentor mechanic: “Am I a joke to you?”
Yeah, they're very similar, but slightly different based on which of the two cards has the ability to trigger. Which... I can't think of how that changes things right now, but those minor differences tend to lead to interesting interactions in Magic.
Training is the flip side of mentor, and I like the parallel here in how they work and how they are named. Mentor goes on a creature that is able to make weak creatures stronger, Training goes on creatures that need a strong creature to boost themselves. Beautiful symmetry!

Some may have entirely unrelated mana costs.
It's definitely one of the more creative and flexible mechanics Wizards has put in a black-border set in awhile. One design the custom card community has been joking about is an instant with an expensive Cleave cost and "Draw a card. [Until end of turn,] you [can't] win the game." 😂
@@IceMetalPunk They could even do it the other way and have the card be expensive but the Cleave cost be less.

@@Cantthinkofname-rp3iw Wouldn’t work. The Wedding Ring needs to be casted, not copied, to trigger the effect that’s makes the opponent a Wedding Ring. You’d need to have some sort of swap spell (usually blue) for this to work.

Well, when midnight hunt dropped I said that the set had nice flavor and some cool cards, But, I had a feeling that the real value would be in crimson vow. So far, not disappointed, let's see if the set turns out to be amazing or not.

Unlikely. Combining cards is good and all but Diabolic tutor sees little play, and nobody plays land retrieval in green.

What costs are good or not for the effects, so maybe I was a little over the top calling it a possible staple, but I still feel like it helps you get mana fixing in the early game and isn’t a dead card late game, but again not a commander player

I clicked this in my email because I thought that girl in the ad looked a lot like Jessica from True Blood. I am pleasantly surprised to learn that it was in fact Deborah Ann Woll. Also, the guy at the beginning did a really good job of setting the scene for this set.
“She’ll be the most power vampire” What about Edgar, who will also be the head of two bloodlines and is literally the creator of the race and an immensely anchoring and powerful vampire, who also has a grandson who is the self proclaimed “lord of innistrad” and is an rather powerful planeswalker?
He's explicitly been on the mend for a while, and right now he's dependant on Olivia. Granted, I get the sense that Sorin's not likely to bend the knee.
They said it in this video: he's been locked away for a long time, and is very weak, depending on Olivia's blood to keep him strong. Which means she basically controls him at this point. I'm sure Sorin's gonna be pissed, but Edgar? Not much he can do about it.
Edgar's not a PW I believe. (Also, I just finished reading the story, so SPOILER ALERT but Sorin's final conclusion on Edgar seems to be he's kind of a dick with no real vision and didn't deserve his respect and deference for all these millennia).

I'm definitely loving this set -- both art and mechanics -- much better than Midnight Hunt. If I had anyone to play paper Magic with, I would want every single Fang Showcase card. It's my second favorite showcase border, second only to the Kaladesh Masterpiece filigree ones.
...maybe I'm just learning that I prefer vampires to werewolves overall? 😅

The wedding ring is such a crush against life gain, I love it.
It's also a token owned and controller by the opponent, so effects that destroys cards that an opponent controls don't affect it.
If only it was standard legal, but I bet there'll be a need for it, even if it doesn't see play - proposing with a magic card has never been so romantic! I hope I open a few to sell!
If I had people to play paper Magic with, then every time I played that, I would ask, "Who wants to marry me?"
Using the Bram Stoker Dracula series was ace. It’s public domain so they don’t have to pay any royalties and will make millions off of it.
Wish they would actually pay respect to it and not make Van Helsing a non legendary card and not blackwash Mina Harker.

Ok, this was little silly with some of the characters (that whole "human +1" joke thing and stuff like that) but I actually like that they had a little fun with it while still giving us the important info 🙂
Yeah, they did the same thing with Jimmy Wong and Joe Manganiello for Midnight Hunt, with constant comments about Joe being a werewolf. I think it's intentionally a little awkward/cringey as a joke.
@@IceMetalPunk Yeah, I figured, but one might question whether being awkward on purpose is any better than on accident. I also sometimes feel weird when they have guest stars or hosts who I suspect or know don't really know anything about the game. But that mostly doesn't matter and as I said, it all came out as fun and quirky so I'm glad they are doing something little bit differently than many other promo streams/videos 🙂. Plus those are some great actors they have in these vids

I wish we can have these games, especially with the artistry, integrated with AR. As a card is chosen, you scan a barcode and see a little action played out in front of you and your guests. Vocals, music, just the sounds of the beasts and I can’t imagine the amount of actions and the variety of sizes the characters can be. Each picture on the card makes you beg to step into it.

They say sorin is printed on too many cards but then they say Chandra is on innistrad
They never said he's printed on TOO many, just that he's printed on many. They're poking fun at themselves while still printing an 8th mechanically unique Sorin, so they have no intention of stopping what they've been doing, lol.

I have seen fantastic acting, acting and directing combine a few times in a life. But this has hit new levels, extra heights I never thought possible. I must say it was breathtaking.
Yeah, very well done. Tight, polished, casual, effective. No cringe. Which for wedding stuff is hard to avoid.

I have Edgar Markov commander deck made from scratch and it's had's both Olivia Voldaren and Olivia, Mobilized for War. I remembers playing Olivia Voldaren in a four way matched 3/4 included me playing Edgar Markov and they gave me a look like WTF dude.

I think having Daybound, Disturb, Blood Tokens, Training, *and* Madness all in one set would be more than Wizards would like to cram into it. But of course, that's what commander, modern, legacy, etc. formats are for: mixing and matching 😀 I think a Blood Madness commander deck, if built right, could be extremely powerful!
