I hope paramount acknowledge how much beyond the mask does to promote this franchise one day. He’s the only person consistently covering scream.

I agree with you that these should have been kept in. They didn’t take away from the scenes they were removed from, it felt like they didn’t want a lot of Sidney references due to the backlash, so they hoped fans would just forget.
also it’s worth noting that not everyone thought Sidney was a saint/hero. We see this with the popular girls in the bathroom in the first movie and with the general public in 4 outside of Olivia’s house. A lot of people were against Sidney to some extent and painted her as the villain as well sometimes. this links her and Sam even MORE.
I mean you also saw that in Scream 4 when the entire neighborhood blamed her for Olivia’s death.

Omg these lines would have made more of an impact especially the one in Gale & Sam’s scene 😅😅
And now it makes sense why Sam was so upset after Gail was attacked. That cut conversation comparing the two would’ve solidified Gail’s position in the new storyline. She’s the dark final girl like Faith from Buffy to Sidney.
Bailey being a cop & Mark Kincaid being a cop may be the link… unless Mark changed careers - maybe Bailey found out their whereabouts through other cops 🤷🏽♀️

The dialog betwen Gale and Sam was awesome.
8:24 I would have liked the concept that Bailey had a wire tap on each persons phone and he found out where Sidney was from tracing her call to Gayle.
Posted this on reddit last week and glad someone is finally addressing this from the OG script.
If we weren’t going to get Sidney in the movie but everyone would’ve kept mentioning her anyway that would’ve felt weird and silly. It’s like instead of showing her we will just keep talking about her to make everyone happy. Almost like pandering to the fans.
I honestly like all of these lines better than how Gale brought her up outside the police station. ("She sends her love." COME. ON.) I felt like that was just a bit lazy. What you've uncovered show a lot of self-reflection and depth, not to mention a heightened awareness of the previous films. And the final reference, though dark, literally opens the door for her return (and shows that these Ghost Faces had intent beyond NYC. I feel like I would have appreciated the movie more had these cuts not been made.
It’s been almost a year since the movie released, I wonder when we’ll get to see the deleted scenes for ourselves.

I don't like the fact that these writers think they are clever by making up garbage rules saying legacy characters are expendable when they themselves killed off a legacy character in a garbage way and the audience was not happy about it and it hurt Scream, it didn't help it!
Sam comparing herself to Sidney I see the idea behind it but I don't think it needs to be here!
The final act mention of Sidney is dark but again creates plot holes so it is a good thing it was axed from the script!
The plot armor this franchise has for it's main cast is ridiculous at this poin.
Dewey dying made sense... nobody from original trio died since Randy it was about time... an older alcoholic Dewey wanting to save everyone and prove himself fit his character... he died a gruesome death too.
@@thedragon12 Problem is Dewey becoming a drunk did not fit his character and they gave him a garbage death!
He would become an alcoholic after all the deaths he saw and him separating from Gale. It's like super common among cops... There's only so much you can see without needing stuff to cope... His death was brutal, wether you liked it or not is inconsequential. It was brutal, it was gruesome and I'm happy he's the one who got it and not just a random side character.@@entertainmentwizard2703

They should have kept all of it, it was a great way to keep her in the story without her being on screen. Of course, they want to erase our star ❤️
The last reference to Sid being in Seattle was right to be cut; HUNNY It's round six and 25yrs of Ghostface for Sidney, she has a foolproof plan. Also Gale/Kirby/Mark would be able to counter Bailey directly, or even his searching would give him away early!
She should have been in scream 6
No question all of it needed to be in there. All of them would have been/become such memorable lines. Can you just hear Courtney perfectly delivering that line as Gale about how "comparing yourself to Sidney is a waste of your time?" Several mentions to Sidney would show proper respect to both the character AND Neve. And these all feel like they would have been pertinent and not just fodder/fan service.

No, they did a good job not keeping in these lines. What would be the point? Especially since Spyglass may not realistically pay Neve what she is demanding. Might as well mention her once and press on. 6 still did very well without her. Hate to say it but it’s true. Though now losing Jenna and Melissa, they’ve def freed up funds, so if Neve wants, they def will bring her back and pay her for 7

Knowing all of this ended up on the cutting room floor really REALLY infuriates me. Having all of these moments wouldn't have changed the plot at all! And it would have just made sense to incorporate Sidney with the new characters even more.😊
Id of kept the Sidney to be in hiding in scream 7 but I hope they keep writing for scream 7 to be released in 2025 andd sad maybe carry the scream Films to keep going for scream 8 … I don’t want Sidney to die yet as she’s the main actress from the scream Franchise 😱🩸

Those cut passages would have acknowledged Sidney’s absence and would have explained the hate Sam received from the general public after the events of Scream 5.
I think they should have kept this. It would have made the movie better. Its still brings character development for these new characters, but also honors Wes Craven's and Kevin Williamson's work.

Even though the movie worked well without Sidney, I could feel the elephant inching into the room towards the end when they’re explaining their motivations and completely leave her out. She definitely would’ve been a target too just like Gale and the 4 new characters. It made no sense. Plus I feel like the killers would’ve been trying to frame Sidney and bring her out of hiding. It was a bit weird that not a single person suspected it could be her behind the mask. They alluded to it with gale in her phone call, why not sidney? It just felt like a few missed opportunities
Should of been left but with Gale, most people speculate that Ghostface was Stu that one time. So he would k ow their dynamic

I wonder if they removed this dialogue because at this point fans knew Neve got an insulting pay offer and would have been insulted themselves by the constant Sidney references. I think the references are great story-wise, but from a business perspective, I guess it makes sense that you don't want to keep reminding the viewer that you were too cheap to pay the start of your franchise.
It wasn't just the pay it was cuz they were going to finally kill her off so she wanted it off screen so they said well nope you ain't in it
When it comes to deleted scenes, the scream franchise has really good ones that should've stayed in the movies
It would of been better keeping that stuff in. I still think they were cramming too much stuff in 6 but Sidney at least needed a bit more to help fans care. I'm sure the original version of 7 would have cleared a lot of this up but cause of all the changes it hurt 6 more.
Personally, I think it would be wise to have kept these lines and filled in the plot holes to have made them work. No matter what, Sidney is the final girl of Scream. It's sad that the studio demeaned her worth, then pulled all these references from the film. But considering what they did to Melissa, it all makes sense. There needs to be more respect towards these female actresses who are the figureheads of the franchise.

They weren’t exactly secretive. That’s why Kirby is involved. They gained the FBIs involvement because they were sloppy.

I think it was a missed opportunity for atleast one of the in universe characters to suspect Sidney could be the killer. I mean come on, with her not involved this time around, it’s natural someone would bring it up if not completely suspect her. “I even had you thinking it could be Sidney”. It just could’ve been cool to do while still staying respectful to her character

Jenna and Melissa definitely aren't coming back 😂👍. They were never needed anyway 🤷. Just Sidney, Mark, the kids, possibly Dewey, and even throw Kirby in there. Neve is considering returning under the right circumstances.

Also, I love Mindy's reference. I think it would have been a great way for them to positively acknowledge the wisdom of Sidney's absence, given the climate after everything went down with the salary dispute.

This is kinda making me think that Sam could be the killer in the next film. And maybe the 2nd secret killer could be Tera.
I kinda knew this the whole time cause in scream 5 when Sid and Sam first met Sam was like mad at Sid cause she killed Billy. This could be like a brilliant twist if this does come to mind in the next film.
I despise that throw away line from Gale about how Sidney deserves her happy ending! I snapped out of enjoying the movie and thought what a shitty line.
My question in the almost year since the movie came out: What IS the exact opposite of snowflake movie fans? LOL. I mean.... based on what we eventually got... ok... Wayne was clearly not about the horror movies/the genre so... ok..... Quinn & Ethan I GUESS didn't care much either, just avenging the death of Richie but.... did they really all embody the EXACT OPPOSITE of 5?

Understandable but then again, I have a love hate relationship for all the movies except for the first one. Only because they changed the script for the second one multiple times, so now they had to change the scripts of all the ones after.
Stu coming back was perfect, since he wasn't shot in the head or anything, and having a TV dropped on his head would've been the perfect way for him to have a legion of killers to come after her for the third movie, after Nancy's plan for revenge fails in the second.
For the third, fourth, and fifth movies, stu would have killers coming after sidney, all wanting to gain something in terms of fame or press like fandom or seeking fame from her death. Then, when all that fails, Stu returns himself to do the job his apprentices can't do.
They had so much potential for his character, and just threw it all away.

As Jill said its all about Sidney, Sidney, Sidney. As much as I love her character I genuinely think theres far too much emphasis on her in all the movies. Maybe a new change in direction is needed going forward!
