As a Brazilian living in Canada, I can say that if you go Brazil. Yes, you'll never be considered brazilians but you'll be well received and accepted of part of society as many other foreigners are. If I can say one positive thing about my country, is our unmatched hospitality, especially with "gringos"

Honestly, the best thing about Canada is the Canadian passport and the access it gives you to the US via the E2 visa. Get a Canadian passport, get E2 and move to a place in the US where you feel safe and warm. Thanks!

Not so easy as you have to invest a substantial amount of money into a US business
yes about 100k is a good start and if you understand business then you'll be happy with a 3-4 year break even period. The market there is massive and the ROI is very good on most small businesses. @@carsandmotorcycles7086

Now I'm happy you're staying here in Toronto. I've lived in NYC for a few years but then moved to Toronto and have no regrets. In my opinion, Canada is much better country to live in. Hope to meet you guys one day😀😜

It is near ideal country, better for retirement and is extremely hard to get naturalized in. It’s one of those countries where you will forever remain foreign.

It is not just about job opportunities. It is about social freedom and personal liberty. I was in Canada years back and was having a good time with some locals having a few drinks and friendly conversation. But when the conversation turned to a controversial topic, everyone instantly clammed up. Not with the Americans, we just kept stating our opinions, but with the Canadians. You could see the anxiety and worry in theirs eyes.......like someone just might be listening. That told me everything I needed to know about Canada.
That’s Canadian mentality, conflict avoidant, polite and insincere as a result. Having said that, you can always find a group of people, both Canadian and not to have any kind of conversation.
Go to the resources extraction areas of Canada working class areas.. opinions sometimes ended up in fist fights but nobody ever pulled out a knife or gun. I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario Sudbury, Timmins etc but I am a Newfoundlander. I got in fist fights with Finn's, Ukraines, Serbs, Romaines, Russians, Germans, Quebecoise you name it but here's the kicker we all worked together underground and watched out for each other and were friends. It wasn't hard to find enough people to help you move or anything like that.. You got more respect if you backed up your mouth with your fists.. I guess it's was the job and testosterone plus alot of ex soldiers.
We are on the process to immigrate.. i know is too late for me and my husband and somehow I’m afraid too if we didn’t make it later…to many information “people leave Canada” that makes anxiety, afraid for everything. However in same time we wanna create and give a better future for my only son.. at least if we didn’t have one as parent… My Son Did It.. and thank you for all your effort and information

I'm a first generation Canadian but my ancestors on my mother's side have been in north America for thousands of years, on my father's side about 400 years.. Don't need a job already did my 30 years working underground.. Every body has to stop moving to the top five cities. Canada is a gobal village to most.

Just arrived few months ago, struggled to land a job but finally make it. As lonng as your long term goal is met, which in my case is a better future for my kids (better education and social life), a better standard of living for all of us, we can thrive. What I find a challenge is to get used to the weather, the only cons I find here, but it's not like we didn't prepare for it. Kepp up the good work, I like your video sharing, one of the most compiling content and honest review I've ever found on youtube

I think it's worth mentioning that we need a government that will promote and put put Canada in a postition where our resources can be processed and provide real revenue and employment. That's not the current government of Canada.
I was born and raised in Alberta and I am so glad I left Canada. No more snow and my cost of living has been sliced in half, maybe even more. Best move I ever made! I don't miss Canada one bit.

If you plan on moving to Toronto, civil engineering would be best. If you plan on living in Alberta, petroleum is best.
I was living in Italy and working as a software Developer. I moved to Canada as a student.
What i have seen now there is less oppurtunity now and rent prices are also higher. The good thing is i am still working remotely
Otherwise i would have empty hands.

The good thing is you can always come back and compare. There’s also different priorities for different stages in life. Tuscanian valleys sound ideal for retirement for instance.
You have visa free access to live, work & study in 26 other European countries.. Better weather, more business opportunities, cheaper education as a EU citizen… Yet you came to a penal colony 😅
I'm in a similar situation, working in IT for some US companies. I get paid in US dollars, but since I was living in Mexico, my expenses were in pesos. I got tempted by the idea of living in Canada because of their good marketing around the quality of life, lots of jobs, security, etc., so I decided to migrate, only to realize that Canada is falling apart. Now, I'm heading back for a better life. Excited to enjoy the clear waters of the Riviera Maya and delicious food back home.

What matters?
This video is music to my ears, and 110% on point. Of course Canada has problems. But we do far better than most. I was born here back in 1964 and with the exception of a few of years living in Eastern Europe have lived here all my life. So while I have lived life elsewhere and while Canada of 2023 is not necessarily the Canada I grew up in, it’s still special. I’m not your typical subscriber but appreciate your fresh and pragmatic approach to life. It’s very Canadian!

My partner and myself received our PRs January this year, but we are now stuck in a limbo. Whilst we want to move, as the country looks amazing, the atmosphere seems to be great - the opportunities job wise seem to be hard to come by. We are both skilled in different fields in IT but find that job searches come up with few decent results and definitely with much poorer salaries than we were expecting.
We would really be interested in your advice in relation to how to improve our prospects and improving our job searches. It would be a real shame to miss this once in a life time opportunity.
What fields in IT are you in? We can certainly help calibrate your job search for better results.

The search on day to day jobs sites brings back jobs but significantly below salary expectations for the experience we have. After a lot of background reading, whether its true or not, I keep reading about the "hidden" market, which is the good jobs are not advertised but filled used social networking or internal recommendations and we are wondering if we need to change our approach.

At any moment, any country might acquire a charismatic, clueless leadership and go the way of Canada--or Brazil, Zimbabwe, France in the 1790's, Germany in the 1920's--or California in the 2020's. All it takes is the aforementioned clueless leadership and a population conditioned to follow them.
A government big and powerful enough to give you everything you want, is a government big and powerful enough to take everything you've got.
And that’s when ambitious and determined people leave elsewhere, while those who are complacent - stay.
@@MakeThatChange I'm 3/4 descended form Germans who came to Texas in the mid-to-late 1800's. My grandfather (the German one) had a theory very similar to yours, and he believed that this "German brain-drain" was the main cause of both world wars. 🤠
Interesting! Would love for you to expand on that belief if you’re up for it. We’re curious about how he connected the dots about brain drain and wars.
@@MakeThatChange I was just a kid and he died when I was nine years old; so I got most of the story second-hand later. Mainly I think his premise was that the Germans who valued freedom and could afford it, left; and the ones who didn't mind a certain amount of tyranny and oppression--and/or couldn't afford it--stayed in Germany, perhaps with a bit of residual animosity toward those who had left; but they were still highly competent technically, and susceptible to a charismatic leader.
My grandmother's particular group left during the political unrest and confusion right after the "Paris Revolutions" of 1848, a time of great tension in Europe generally. Another branch came in the 1870's. They all settled in South-central Texas, where the German influence is still apparent today.
Quite recently I read on some other blog that Hitler may have felt the same way: that too many "good" Germans had emigrated in the 1800's, and he didn't have much left to work with (reference unfortunately unavailable). Perhaps he did believe that, but if so, he decided to go ahead with his plans and the resources he had, anyway.
Thank you for the video! We moved to Canada in 2001 and I have to disagree with many of your comments. Starting in Canada now, especially in Toronto and Vancouver is incredibly difficult and expensive. You should mettion cost of living going through the roof, cost of housing doubling and even tripling in some areas... How about the salaries? Oh well, it did not increase much (except for minimum salary). Most of young Canadians will never be able to afford thereir own place, and I am not taking about detached house. Buying a small condo is already out of reach for many. Interprovincial immigration is at all time high - people moving away from Ontario, Quebec and BC. And we are one of those people. So, yes, Canada is still good option compare to third world countries, however it is no longer land of opportunities as it was even 10 years ago... Everyone tells their own story. Good luck!

We are immigrants, who came here with nothing and were able to create a life in Canada where most issues you mention are not big of a deal for us. If we can do it, we hope to inspire many more to do it too.

Thank you! We are not ignoring these issues, we’ve made plenty of videos on the topic. At the same time we don’t just want to make negative content - it has no use beyond creating negative emotions, and there’s enough of these on the internet already, we ultimately strive to inspire and motivate. We believe a happy life is not built on pessimism and negativity, it’s built on pragmatic optimism, and that’s what we aspire to bring to the world.
Whether or not it happens in Canada or elsewhere - is another question!

@@North49191 Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a "cheap large city" in North America. In terms of real estate, some cities are more affordable than others, for example, Edmonton and Calgary are more affordable than Toronto and Vancouver. Dallas and Houston are more affordable than New York and LA.
since I was in Thailand before I moved to Canada last year I have been watching your videos, great content. according to this Video as a newcomer, I decided to leave Canada after 1 year of living in Canada. btw, don't get me wrong I have been very successful since I came here, But this is not the life that I was expecting.
Would you like to share more about what made you realize it's not the right place for you?
In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become the North Korea of the western world.
There are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.

@@MakeThatChange I am one (1) person. There are 110 million Filipinos living in the Philippines. So no, I am not increasing multiculturalism by moving to Asia. Anybody can move to Canada, any immigrant, any refugee, any asylum seeker, any chimpanzee, giraffe, kangaroo etc. Canada will take anyone, because the country is desperate for slaves.
This question was more related to Canadians moving to Asia.
The sad reality is, the most developed countries are those who've successfully leveraged all shapes and forms of "slaves"

It all depends on the lifestyle you want to have and your ambition. Winnipeg vs Toronto or Oklahoma vs NYC is not really comparable. It’s like comparing a Prius to an e-bike.
Thanks for this video! It ticks a lot of boxes and addresses all the topics why my wife and I consider relocating to Canada - even when coming from one of the richest countries around and having safe jobs. In the end no country is perfect, absolutely not. But with the heavily right-wing tendencies in Europe things like a welcoming and diverse culture look as promising as great school education and therefore a better outlook on life for our kids.

The United States is very diverse. Not all ethnic groups are found everywhere in the country, however. Certain ethnic groups are inclined to live in certain areas. You would have to travel to the US more to understand. Perhaps you haven’t been to New York City yet. I think Canada pushes for immigration, but the US stays neutral on the topic. It’s not to say the US doesn’t welcome immigrants. Immigrants to the US come from all over, but a few countries dominate the source of immigration. The Canadian government simply encourages it for economic and population growth. Immigrants to Canada come from every country and it’s hard to say which group is dominant. That is probably why you saw less diversity in the US. If you were to visit the US again, don’t be afraid to tell people you have moved to Canada from Russia and you can speak Russian. People will find that interesting. Just like anywhere else, we find the knowledge of multiple languages cool.

California and Las Vegas isn’t America. America is highly diverse. Like the poster said some ethnicity live in certain parts of America.

It is true that many Westerners would prefer to move to Asia (Thailand for example) for more comfortable lifestyle, just because their currency is more powerful than the locals. But keep in mind that many Thais also look forward to move away to western countries as well, not only for better opportunities but also because of the politics.

Opposite for me - i have been watching those ladies for a year and finally moved my family. Unfortunately, Canada is not attractive from the inside at all - no jobs, no social life, tons of drug-addicts just at the city centre, huge risk to become homeless once you loose a job/retired, irrelevant food price (40CAN for the kilo of cheese, 15CAN for the kilo of cottage cheese), level of scam is unacceptable - even in regular shops or service places like dentistries, clinics. Nightmare, and it is better to get prepared for worse.
Sorry to hear your experience isn’t great, must be disappointing and hope we helped you prepare for the worst at least a little bit. How are you coping with it?
@@MakeThatChange thank you for the support, ladies! Really did not expect the empathy here. I can tell you - mostly the same as Canadians do: cutting off the expenses (i have never expected to be unable to afford myself the cheese and new shirt), becoming cautious and closed (communicating only inside the family and small talks with others without letting anybody in to the inner cycle - but tbh not a lot are trying to access), sending 20 applications a and getting 3 rejections each day (i have 15 years of experience in IT and was a highly-demanded specialist in EU). Life if totally different here, people are weak, everything is based on money, not a lot of non-materialistic connection even between family members. But we’ll survive, there is no doubt in bright future.
The first few months are tough. For my family ( Anastasia) the first 3 years were generally tough, with odd low paid jobs, few friends.
It does get better as you learn to navigate Canada a little more. The first job will likely be low pay, but it will help get that pesky experience, and it will be much easier for you to get your next jobs
A few tips:
- watch our videos about how to build a resume, this should help with tightening up your resume
- take advantage of free newcomer services, they’re available in every major city. It’s a good way to meet other newcomers and get more job advice. Check out YMCA
- engage in meetups - attend events(many are fresh) in your hobbies. Use Eventbrite or Meetup.com to find events that interest you. It’s a good way to meet people who are into the same interests as you are

You are correct, it's a lot of the "same shit" everywhere. You guys are both young and have good careers and skills, so remaining where you are, especially as a couple where you both have good incomes makes sense. The property market seems to have been one of the craziest in the Western / developed world , but it's similar in many countries in Europe.

@@dobrenkijbog8805 there of course remain cheaper places for now… but lots of the world has gone crazy .. Mexico City is seeing lots of gentrification due to migrants mainly from the USA. I hope it remains that way in Limassol .. but as other places become more expensive , remote workers may gravitate towards your city ( I’m assuming you’re local and not a foreign migrant .. either temporary or permanent). As it seems likely that Cyprus will remain outside the Schengen zone for some time, this makes it especially attractive for third country nationals in the EU. Remote workers, nomads etc can spend 90 days in Cyprus to “refresh “ their Schengen time. This can be good for the local economy but if many remote workers are attracted to Cyprus, taking advantage of geo arbitrage , it could serve to drive rental prices up making it less accessible and affordable for local residents.

I'm Canadian, born & raised in the Ottawa area since 1950. I love your attitude and if Canadians adopted your attitude, life would be much simpler for all who live here. Nobody owes you anything, you have to work for it, fight for it with degrees and advanced education but bad luck can strike at any time and starting over is not the end of the world. Go back to Uber or Tim's, get additional education and move on. You now have proper Canadian experience that seems to be a pre-requisite all the time. Back in the 60s, 70s, that is what we had to do and succeeded at doing it. Now it's your turn.

I see the people leaving or looking to leave as lazy. They all want the money but not work for it. Surprisingly, it seems to be mostly Canadians and not immigrants. A lot of Immigrants had a much harder life back in their country so apart from a different culture, they are not against working hard to achieve their goals. It's the Canadians and immigrants from Europe, spoiled and want it all because they feel entitled to it that are causing the mini crisis.
Agreed, that was one of the reasons we made the video about REAL reasons why people leave Canada. Most people who leave and brag about it are most likely priveleged to be in a position where they can afford such a move thanks to having worked and lived in Canada. I won't be surprised if many return after 6-12 months.
