    I was personally not the biggest fan of Finland's song but winning the public vote so overwhelmingly and still coming in second is absurd. It's ridiculous that 5 jury members from each country should have as much power to pick the winner as millions of fans. Loreen winning without a single 12 points from the fans is not a good look for the Eurovision.

    • @tofiqzade
      @tofiqzade Před rokem +56

      No, it is not. First, the jury final is held separately from the grand final for televoters. Norway for example, sounded horrrrrible during the jury final, like it was very bad and she could barely sing, so I can understand why it came low with the juries but high with televoters. Kaarija was never the best singer, and during the jury final he was far from best. Still, the fact that he came in top 5 with juries is a lot compared to countries like Spain that came in top 10 only.

    • @venlakirahvi
      @venlakirahvi Před rokem +112

      I also really prefer the normal way of announcing points. Maybe they should just add the jury and public votes together so they can be announced by each country at the same time (if we are to continue having the juries). I get that this new style of announcing the public votes is much more dramatic and entertaining. However it's just not the Eurovision tradition, and it becomes a bit humiliating for the artists in the low end when it's made into such a spectacle. I admire their attitudes but still. Even though Eurovision is a competition, it should still be done in a way that is wholesome and including.

      @@venlakirahvi I'm all for not having to sit through one and a half hours of announcing points. @kingkramer Před rokem +18

      I personally loved the idea of Lord of the Lost's entry, but I think the thing that set Voyager's entry above it for me was how the energy/composition was handled. Voyager's entry was a tried-and-true way to build up the song and its energy for sure, but it worked wonders. For me, "Blood and Glitter" peaked in the very beginning and the bridge, where both the band and the vocalist went harder with the fry screams. After a relatively calm first verse, I was expecting the chorus to match the fantastic energy of the intro.
      I'll have to listen to the studio version. I know many songs don't always translate as well to the stage (vocalists have to breathe after all), and it might be that the energy is better contained when the challenges of live performance are alleviated.
      In short: Lord of the Lost did an excellent performance, and there's not a shred of doubt that these are incredibly skilled musicians and performers! I just wanted *more* :)

      @jounirikkonen8176 Před rokem +67

      @@moondaughter1004 Yes, i did notice that. And it is not peoples fault or Loreen's. In UMK (Finnish eurovision selection competition) the international jury from 7 countries will have the affect of 25% of points. 75% is by people televoting. With that system the jury can not overrun if people are behind of one competitor. In that system the jury is more like "small boost" or "professional opinion". But i think that at the end we would not be this upset if jury and televotes would have been atleast little bit closer each other. The difference was too blatant. Käärijä got 2nd biggest televote points ever after Ukraine 2022 and he still lost so it kind of tell's that in realisticly public votes couldn't have changed the outcome after Loreen got so huge points from jury.

Poland already had ppl with beautiful voices (real talented artists) like Michał Szpak or Ochman and what did it helped? It's all rigged, political stuff (mostly affected be juries). I am not saying Poland deserves good place in scoreboard (hell no, I heard her singing and it's awful but half of entries in finals were either also bad or just boring) and even though it's like u said "basic, mainstream song" most of ppl on this planet are basic and mainstream.

      Not only Loreen is a beautiful singer, this year we had a lot of beautiful voices, Marco Mengoni, Alessandra, Alika, Blanca Paloma, and as you said with Poland there are some like Ochman last year. @@FexxarTV I didn't mean to say she got votes because of bad reputation. What I meant was that she got votes because she got a lot of attention due to the circumstances around her being chosen as the representative. People heard about her more because of it and no one can deny that her song is easily going to be stuck inside your head and is very catchy. For example, during the show I was talking to my mother and she was like "The more I listen to the polish song the more I like it." It's a catchy song, I am not denying that. I've actually never heard anyone say Luke Black's song sounds or looks like from an Anime, so idk about that. I've actually listened to both Serbia's and Austria's song a lot while gaming. So while I may not understand your opinion on them I still appreciate your input. I was just very baffled with the outcome of the votes due to the experiences I made. this years eurovision was like the exact opposite of 2021, which was when i started watching it again after being disappointed for the majority of 2010's. in 2021 it really felt like the voice of the people was heard, all though i did prefer goa over maneskin, but at least i completely understand why maneskin won. 2022 wasn't as good but at least konstrakta got her flowers. this year however, wtf was this? like obviously you can feel the unison wherever you go either online or offline that nobody expected this, and not just loreen winning over kaarja who clearly had the popular vote, but everyone else placing SO low??? it feels like in 2021 they actually let people vote, and right after started rigging it again, it just makes no sense, how can the disconnect be so great? i refuse to believe these are the actual public vote results, i mean, it's not like anyone can prove it, this isn't like voting for president, it's just a song competition after all. but man, this was just sus BIGTIME.

      As a Brit, 2022 was the best and worst for me - highest place ever in decades, but robbed by the public sympathy for Ukraine vote

    • @allitus
      @allitus Před rokem +4

      @@kaysmith8992if i can be honest with you, i dont think the ukraine vote was ONLY sympathy vote. i mean songs usually tend to be contextual, so of course people were moved by the lyrics and the whole vibe of the ukraines song. it was so different from everything we've seen in eurovision before and i really liked it. uk's song was really good too, dont get me wrong, but i get annoyed when people blame it straight up to sympathy votes. if the song was bad and failed to touch people's hearts, i doubt it would had reached high points.

    • @leonievasa
      @leonievasa Před rokem +2

      @@allitus I agree. I think Ukraine deserved to win for the song alone.

    • @KyrieFortune
      @KyrieFortune Před rokem +2

      @@allitus yeah, Ukraine usually places high anyway (in 2021 Go_A didn't win the overall points but was 1st in public vote, for example) so there is a chance they would have won in 2022 without the sympathy votes, at the very least they would gotten second place

    • @kaysmith8992
      @kaysmith8992 Před rokem +3

      @@allitus Ukraine might have marginally won but not by such a landslide. Ukraine entries are often good, and Ruslana 2004 was one of the best winners ever, but 2022 was suspiciously high and I'm not sure how unusual/different the style was to other entries.

    I don’t see anyone complain about that Spain got 95 points from the juries and only 5 from televotes…! Sometimes jury votes are more than welcome, I guess.

    • @in_wino_veritas
      @in_wino_veritas Před 9 měsíci

      It was overrated by the juries. How can they give her so many points, that she would end up ahead of the 8th, 9th and 10th places of the public vote on the scoreboard, even though she finished dead last with the public. 183 jurors overturning the will of a hundred million people. There you have it. And maybe they don't complain about it, because she didn't win anyway. Or get into the Top 10. Well, and it's also funny to see the difference on how this song was perceived by the juries, the media and the bubble on CZcams and Twitter, vs how actual people in real life responded to it, we're living in a huge bubble after all. Although I gotta say, that most of the people ranking behind Spain deserved a better result than her, not the UK, but the other 8 songs that were ranking below her.

    The artistic direction was on point, costumes, hair, visuals, dance moves, everything. Let’s add a catchy song, powerful message and a collective spirit.
