About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Absolutely ❤❤❤!!!
Most underrated Blur song. Its beautiful.
Beautiful certainly but not underrated. Not by those with taste 🙂
Not by me ❤
I think a better music video, and this song would be better regarded
Anything is only underated by the person who names it as such. Don't do it. We rate things according to how and where we rate them. Rating is subjective. If you really mean it wasn't more commercially successful then, well, it had the success it was due.
@@RossMcCarthy1990😅
I believe this was David Bowie's favourite Blur song. Easy to see why
I think he said it was his favourite of this album
Interesting. It even sounds a bit like Bowie.
Mine to... good to know!
This is mine 😊
I'd have thought it would be MOR.
Such a beautiful song. No-one does melancholia as well as Damon.
Natalia P. Lol.. what does that even mean
The new album Merrieland by The Good The Bad and The Queen would suggest otherwise
The Spirit Molecule His Mongolian throat-singing album was inspired 😀
Billy Corgan as well
@Lil'Blick Wit Da Stick Radiohead and Thom Yorke are way ahead of Blur or Damon Albarn when it comes to melancholia. Not to take anything away from Blur but they are not masters of it or anything remotely close to that in my opinion. They have few good tracks that are melancholic and yes Damon's voice has a sad tone and goes really well with it. Infact these are the only songs I like in Blur's catalog but saying Damon invented melancholia is ridiculous.
This was released when I was on a long road trip with my dad & family.. when he passed away 5 years ago, this was on non-stop repeat in my phone, car, room, everywhere.. miss u dad..
I am 52, i have a 17 yo boy and my eyes are wet now.
I lost my dad this January..I feel you man. If you're close to your family..especially your parents it hurts a lot after losing them. And I kept hearing a lot of songs I used to hear when he was alive. Miss my dad so much and my condolence to you.
RIP Mr Sibarani
❤️
I feel like this is he song where you can feel the transition from Blur to Gorillaz, in Damon's singing.
this is a top 5 Blur song
@Random Music Review totally agree
What would be the other four? Just getting into Blur now.
@Random Music Review What would be the other 4?
@@simsalonaut Hmm, difficult list. If we're just talking these style songs, then Think Tank will be the majority of these styled songs. That being said for Think Tank then:
Good Song,
Sweet Song,
Ambulance,
On the Way to the Club
From other albums (13 and Blur will be closest to these styled songs):
Coffee and Tv,
1992,
You're so Great,
Strange News from Another Star,
Beetlebum

My favourite track of Blur , it’s such a beautiful haunting melodic track , Damon and Blur at their best
Ian
One of Alex's most beautiful, melodic bass lines. I think he truly shines here.
Oh yes you are so right
🙂
This is the only album where Graham (their guitarist) isn’t in it
Few songs are a perfect 10...this song cannot be improved upon, it's literally perfect...gorgeous.
Timothy Dannenhoffer maybe is too short... just saying haha
Euge Tipsarevic Wut.
Leettle Seester Maybe a critic for this song is it was made too short
Euge Tipsarevic How is nearly 4 minutes too short xD
If only graham played on this song, he would of added some great guitar work to it
I cried when they played this in the show in Perú, it was so emotional. They are awesome!
U have to see this one Samira,the most beautiful i guess..enjoy it👍...czcams.com/video/kILeCIeDeJg/video.html

The solo guitar and the sitar backsound.. give me the chills..

There's a lot of awesome music alive in the world right now but it does require some searching to unearth the precious most pieces
Thank the mother of the webs for her grace
Especially when you realize the actual subtitles are "why am I on a multi billion dollar war machine - the price of which could feed millions of people"
@@Subtletext the song is out dated though. Isn’t it originally about the Iraq war or something like that?
@@ThaKid14 yeah - not sure, I wasn't being accurate, just giving my political opinion.
2022 and sadly this song is still relevant with all the stuff happening in the world, we humans just can't evolve past war.
This video was shot on USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 during a 10month deployment.2002-2003 Imagine being on this deployment back then and recognizing these faces when finding this video close to 20 years later. The meloncholy faces at the beginning were likely faces made at hearing the news that our ship was to be extended in the gulf and heading into war. This song and video sums up the whole experience and this lovely airman gal did a nice job. Mission accomplished, thanks for the full court press keep smiling
This is some extra context that makes this music video even more meaningful, thank you for this...
All great...apart from the Mission Accomplished bit! And you're a yank, so we know that aint irony!
I served on an aircraft carrier for six months in the Adriatic Sea, during the Bosnian war. My whole 5 years in the Navy was a gross waste of my life, that I look back on with shame. Like most of the people I met during that time, I was from a broken home, and thought I had no value and no place left to go. Its a very sobering thing, to realise that the people who die in war aren’t really mature adults with purpose, but mostly vulnerable young people, just searching for a home. The video brought back some very sad memories. Songs great though. 👍

God I love this. Damon's voice in this, the bass guitar, the music video in and of itself. Just beautiful. Makes me want to say F everything and just do what gives me joy.
I get very emotional and have a feeling akin to homesickness when i hear this.
Where you at Pat and where are you homesick for, i feel the same sometimes.
I don't understand why people don't like Think Tank, I thought it was a nice change from their usual cheerful songs. Not that I don't like them, but still.
Think Tank is amazing. It's like 85% Gorillaz and 15% old school Blur - and I love Gorillaz. It really feels like a Gorillaz record.
rike94 Difference is Gorillaz is shit and Think Tank isn't.
Think Tank is my favorite Blur album
Think Tank is such an underrated album!

I've always felt an affinity with this song. When i first heard it in 2005, i was living this life as an aircraft handler on a british carrier. My then wife was also in the navy and we were literally passing ships in the night. This video hit hard back then, and still does.
What a waste of life. I did something very similar.
@twochordcool I loved every (almost) minute of it! Not a waste at all.
still the hell of a heartbreaking music video. all those tired ppl and this beautyful young lady stuck in her duties. sad.
cant beat this tune...the bass is so good. vocals excellent, guitar great , drum path, on time..........pure Blur.
This is the favourite song of my life. It feels as if I'm flying and I have a top view of the world. Just perfect!
The stripped back, minimalist feel to the guitar intro is just superb - blur was no one trick pony
An everlasting hymn to love and communicate each other in the world, since 2003.
This is the most Radiohead I've ever known Blur.
I like a mental song called 1992 on 13.
Radiohead boring
@@Kelly14UK Sorry for late reply but damn that song is great, thanks for reminding me...but it makes me further wonder to what extent a band just kind of unconsciously channels another band via osmosis- or gets in a huddle with the producer and collectively decides: "Guys, let's sound like heads Radio and Portis on this one".
Kind of jars with one's notions of originality, but it's no bad thing if it's executed as well as this.

Don't forget to obey to your your goverment. Because goverment is your god! They know better. And when they will locking you up for an year, just obey.
Blur's best song and the video is so atmospheric and melancholic - simple stripped down production
Hi I recommend an indie song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
This was the song when I've seen the ocean for the first time in my life. It was also the first time I listened to Blur. Since this moment it became one of my favorite bands.
I remember the first time I heard this song, the first time I saw this music video. I was like 12 or 13 inside my makeshift room, we had a Sharp CATV which was a CRT. It was like 12mn or 1AM when this came on MTV (ch. 41) and oh boy.
I had that indescribable mixed feeling of sadness and happiness. Sad because I thought the song tackles lonliness (due to the title, and music video subtitles towards the end,) and happy because I discovered something new, I felt alive and content for that short moment of my teenage life 😊
From then on I kept on humming the melody coz I didn't know any basic English back then 😅 had no idea of the lyrics, internet wasn't that popular in my area and I only got to hear this song when someone from the network "decided" to play it.
Now almost 20 years later, I still consider it a gem and I still relate to this song and music video, it has a special place in my being, a part of my psyche. Kudos to the crew, people, minds behind this. Damon, your voice is haunting and I like it. Very much.
Very much.
❤
thank you so much for sharing. In my own way I relate so much to your experience.
How come it's not the most popular song in the world?

THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE BLUR TRACK EVER
One of the surprising facts of the Blink 182 self-titled album (2003) was inspired by this album, Tom was very inspired by this album which made Blink 182 writing the lyrics more serious and focused on the 2003 Iraq War.
Wow i did not know that. Amazing I didnt know he listened to Blur. Great stuff

I periodically come here to hear this song. Don't know why, but there are moments when I need it.
this song deserves far more credit
Every time I listen to this song it gives me shivers.
This was a discovery channel documentary. I saw it and then heard the song and then saw this video by blur and thought that putting the two together was genius. Love blur.
Only heard this a couple of years ago never much of a blur fan but I rate this as a song that raises spirits and really makes you take a long hard look about what is going on all around you and think.
I think it is a very spiritual song which grabs you in an understated way as opposed to say, Tender.
0:25 - 0:30 best part of this music video :)
I was so happy
Love this song SO much. It's beautifully dark.
The last few seconds of this song are magic
It's been years since I heard this song. Such a lovely tune, takes me back!
I can't go a week without hearing it!
This video is so very well done, makes me shed a tear still. Those subtitled lines paint a clear picture. Makes me respect military personnel, it's not easy. Even in peacetime. Damn...
No matter what time it is, this masterpiece will be running out of time around all the eras.
Still good to listen in 2016
To me this song represents my problem with loneliness often times I feel so out of place in the world. The same people who will call me a friend one day are the same who will shun me the next. It leaves me in a position where I can't tell who's my real friend and who's not. It leaves me in a spot where I feel that I'm better off alone.
Where's the love song?
To set us free
Too many people down
Everything turning the wrong way around
And I don't know what love will be
But if we start dreaming now
Lord knows we'll never leave the clouds
[CHORUS:]
And you've been so busy lately
that you haven't found the time
To open up your mind
And watch the world spinning gently out of time
Feel the sunshine on your face
It's in a computer now
Gone to the future, way out in space
[REPEAT CHORUS (x2)]
Tell me I'm not dreaming but are we out of time?
(We're) out of time
Out of time [x4]
This songs makes me feel so nostalgic and melancolic
Production is stellar. I adore the distant melodic wailing in the bg
Is it ok to cry with this song?
Yes...

cant believe i found this in 2022 but i'm glad i did
This song is that good that I've always thought it lasted for two / two and a half minutes but actually is 4 minutes long !
I read this, and the same situation happened to me, long distance, the love was pure but the distance was too much in this short life. And here we both are, having Blur get us through our problems.
Think Tank is by far my favorite Blur album, to be honest. It's amazing from start to finish, especially this song and Battery in Your Leg.

When Blur were good, they were very very good.
Totally
they still are -_- if you're referring to their recent songs like under the westway and the puritan, yeah they weren't exactly up to par with their older stuff but i still enjoyed them :)
