As Slovak, I appreciate the effort and detail that went into this video. More attention could be put towards correct pronunciation, because if a foreigner will ask about any of these places or foods, locals will have no idea what they are talking about. Immature poppy seed is from which the opium as you know it as drugs is made. Mature poppy seed can be normally eaten cause it doesn´t contain any hallucinogenic substance and is safe even if you would eat a lot of it. That´s why it can be used in food industry. But I know it´s not so common in the west countries or in Asia where people mostly know only the opium related to immature poppy seeds.

Such minorities are in every country close to borders. It is not special to Slovakia, and it would just trigger some Slovaks, as Hungarian did a lot of harm to Slovak ancestors. So why poke an almost healed wound. Because you are Hungarian? My great-grandfather was tortured by Hungarians, even had to change his Slovak surname to a Hungarian one to be able to keep his job... and earn money for his family.
Also this bilingual minority canNOT speak nor correct Slovak neither correct Hungarian language. They speak a local language mixture. I have friends from the area, and they told me that. Even my boss had to speak English to Hungarian business partners, because they could not understand his "Hungarian" language. So they are not really fully bilingual. Which is sad and lost opportunity. They cannot work in Slovak language as they don't speak or write it well enough, as their parents never pressed them to learn the correct version. Nor the correct version of Hungarian language. Again, this is what my friends told me. I blame the parents.
Yeah, you are right. It is bizzare that you mention it... You apparently have no respect or love to Slovaks to do that.

Love it when foreigners try to make a video about our country and they use stock images having nothing to do with the country, like the fašiangy masks, lol. What's more troubling are historical inaccuracies. The split of Czechoslovakia for example was not about "mutual agreement". That's simply nonsense. Few politicians decided against the will of the people, which causes a persisting feeling of wrong-doing among the population of both countries. You talk about the Tokay wine region and you use a stock video of red wine, while red wines are not grown in that region. The wine of kings and king of wines (Vinum Regum, Rex Vinorum) is grown there and it's white... The "orloj" in Stará Bystrica is not just about heroes... there's one fascist there as well and people do not care... You talk about Slivovica and show a Czech brand, lol. You got the pronunciation completely wrong, but that I could at least understand as you're not a local.

An amazing Gothic cathedral, in which the Austrian monarchs, including Maria Theresa, were crowned for more than a century, and the Klariska temple. The beautiful church of St. Elizabeth in Košice and, among other things, the wooden altar of Master Paul from Levoča, which is located nearby, are definitely worth mentioning. These monuments, like many others, for example, unique wooden churches in eastern Slovakia, are included in the UNESCO list. In short - you missed a lot... To the speaker: Please, before speaking about Slovakia, inform yourself about correct slovak pronunciation! Otherwise listening to you, how you spoil slovak words, is horrible. Do not ignore 13:28 letters č, š, ž, ť, ď, ň, the small sign above is not an ornament, but a softener, making them a soft variant of the given letter. C is never K in slovak, but as ts in English. J is never dž or ž but always J as in German or Scandinavian languages, like Y in Youth. And CH is not š, but it is pronounced like kh in English.

Bro, Vianoční kapr/vánoční kapr is a regular carp, roasted, deep fryed or baked most likely served with potato salad. You show us fish soup maked from residue parts of carp :-)))

OMFG, so many misunderstands... "oplatky" has german origin and are most known from czech "Karlsbad" baths, "kofola" is czechoslovakian drink of czech origin, "Comenius" was Moravian... and what about that Ukraine flag ??? and why are those fact "bizarre" ? :O

Kapustnica - thick cabbage soup with bacon or sausage and mushrooms - and other ingredients - for example dried prunes - recipes differ in different regions... Cabbage soup is traditionally served on the first Christmas holiday, December 25, on St. Stephen's Day, therefore it is called Štefánska kapustnica served with sour cream and fresh bread. must be tasted. BUT the national dish is Bryndzové halušky Bryndz dumplings. Bryndz dumplings were mainly the food of sheep herders. they are gnocchi made from potato dough with fried onions and bacon and with bryndza. Bryndza - Liptauer cheese is a traditional product. It is a soft sheep's cheese with a protected origin, like Parmesan, Roquefort or Emmental, similar to cottage cheese... Bryndza may only be produced in Slovakia and was patented during the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy... Unpasteurized - "summer bryndza" is probiotic atomic bomb. Despite the fat content of 56 percent, you will lose weight with its regular consumption. It tastes great with fresh milk.

what others see: 48 bizarre facts about Slovakia
what Slovaks see: *48 ways of butchering Slovak names*
so, let me correct you on a few:
    - C is ALWAYS pronounced as TS and NEVER as K... therefore it's KapustniTSa, not KapustniKa, BystriTSa, not BystriKa, SHtianviTSa, not StiavniKa, KremniTSa, not KremniKa and most importantly, SlivoviTSa, not SlivoviKa
    - G is pronounced as in go, not as in giant... therefore it's Fashiangy, not FasianDJee
    - when you see CK together in a word, it's pronounced as TSK... it's RayeTSKa Lesna, not RayeKa Lesna, and it's PlaTSKy, not PlaKy
    - similarly, ČK together makes a CH-K sound, therefore it's pronounced as ShibaCHKa, not ShibaKa
    - CH is pronounced as in the Scottish word Loch... it's TiCHa noTS, not TiSHa NoK (remember that rule about C letter above) and its pronounced as OreCHova Potuon, not OreSHova Poton
    - J is pronounced like y in "yet", not like j in "jam"... so it's pronounced as Tokay, not Tokaj, as Yanosheekove Dni, not Janiskove Dni and as KroY, not KroJ
    - Spiš Castle = Spish, not Shpeez castle... what we called špíz, is a form of a barbecue dish where you have baked potatos, veggie and sausages on a tiny wooden stick, lol
    - it's Kapor, Kapr is Czech word
but you nailed Čičmany as a native, so credit given where it belongs :)
