- VIX [Volatility Index] is a measure of "Fear" in the market
- VIX is also called as INDIA VIX
- VIX can go up in the rising market
- VIX can go down in the falling market
- VIX is independent of rising/falling
- VIX is measured on indices & NOT on a particular stock
- VIX going up: Probability of market going in the same/current direction is high
- VIX going down: Probability of market going in the same/current direction is NOT high
- VIX is derived from Option prices
, so they both are interlinked
- Implied volatility is NOT the same as VIX
I think you got the vix going up and down in reverse. If vix goes up then it means volatility is more hence the probability for fluctuation is more

@@somnathrangrej7356higher probability fluctuation mean the probability of continuing the current trend in less. MR. Sundar sadly couldn't give a simpler explanation. I think it's better to read the NSE documentation

Shouldn't we consider average return of nifty as well in calculating the upper and lower range Standard deviation of the avg return is daily volatility . For volatility of the month we calculate; x=Daily volatility * sqrt( 22) ; y = return of the month from nifty ; upper range = x+y % and lower range = x-y% . Please correct me .
