During the Nigerian Navy 68th Anniversary Week, Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla hosted a meeting of Heads of Navies and CoastGuards of Gulf of Guinea(GoG) nations.
Did you know that the GoG is one of the most important maritime trade routes on earth?
Did you know that the GoG spans a surface area of 2,350,000 km²?
Did you know that the GoG is the northeasternmost part of the Atlantic bordered by 13 littoral states from Liberia 🇱🇷 to Angola 🇦🇴 with Nigeria at the center?
Hence Nigeria 🇳🇬 is naturally positioned to play a lead role in the maritime security architecture of the GoG.
The meeting of Heads of GoG Navies resolved to further operationalize the Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF) whose pioneer Commander is a versatile Nigerian Navy officer - Commodore Mohammed Ali Al-Hassan.
