My Grandma would cut her old stockings into strips, tie them together, and wind them into a ball (like yarn). I'm STILL using that "twine" to tie up plants & vines. 😅

I have to say something about the "dirty thirties". It was a rough time for most and people made due with what they had, which was very little. My folks went through the 30's and they said it built character and sustainability.

I just love that peacock tray and that beautiful blue splash bowl. Too bad about the tv trays. I have always loved them as decor and used them for my grandkids when they came over. Watched from Pekin, IL

Karen, I found a aqua glass banana split dish and it was uranium. I was thrilled. Check out that bowl.
Karen, do you feel butterflies in your stomach of enjoyment when you find items that you have been desiring? I get happy with even the small things like sewing notions, kitchen utensils, boxes or baskets, sometimes bottles with tops, jewelry not just silver. I like costume or beaded items, which I can take apart and redo( sometimes).
You two are so sweet and you really care about each other.

The peacock tray and blue bowl were my favorites!
My grandpa saved everything, including twist ties.. i think that was the depression era folks.. he was very organized, but kept it all
I was born way after that era ~ so, what's MY excuse? (my twist ties are kept neatly in a Sucrets tin)😂
@@BastetNoodles that's awesome. My roomie thinks I'm crazy because i save glass jars and wash and refuse aluminum foil and ziploc bags(not ones o had raw meat in). But all the rest 🤣

Lots of good, useful stuff. I probably would have made an offer on the entire garage... lot's of great older tools in there. Haha.. that's why I can't get into my garage right now.. too many tools, no room to work😂.
