"It's all about the fins." It is always a bonus to see these cars are still driven.
Hi Right Lane Hog, Understandable why it's all about the Fin's on this driver :-) Lou
Used to have a 1958 DeSoto Fireflite. It was
one of the top open road cars I've ever driven.
Hi 20alphabet, Happy to read you had a car like this you used to enjoy! Very cool, Lou
I just found my favorite ride from the 50's right here.... I like everything about it...!! Ride on....

What an absolutely beautiful piece of rolling history. And as I’ve always said, “glad this car is driven as they are meant to be”. What wonderful owners!
Hi Rusty, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this "Driver" and appreciate the Care Takers too :-) Lou
I just saw this car flying down 590 North in Rochester NY! Absolutely amazing car! She is a gorgeous car! Never see one like this!
Thanks Lou & to the owners. What a car. Love it. So cool.
Hi D Wnright

Looks and sounds awesome. I love the Chrysler fin cars. Thanks for sharing guys.
Hi Big Charlie's Model Garage, Happy you enjoy this Fintastic episode :-) You're welcome, Lou
My grandfather had a 1958 Firedome sedan. Same fins! He kept that car until 1974 and sold it for $500, which was a hefty price for a very old car back then. Just wish he'd held on to his 1927 Packard. He drove that until Pearl Harbor and traded it for a new Oldsmobile!
Hi Tom, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Grandfathers car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Aaaaah: our first car, inherited from wife's grandfather. A 57 DeSoto in 2-tone pink. Complete rust bucket, with lumber making up the floor of the trunk, but what a great car it was. Driver seat tilted out to let you disembark! On the highway it just floated along. Finally died of an engine fire, but a superb car,
Hi Graham L, Happy to read this car / video brings back memories of your 57 DeSoto. Thank you for viewing, sharing, and putting that fire out so you can tell the story today :-) Lou
They are a perfect match for this Desoto. Beautiful car. Thanks Lou
Hi FUBAR Model Yard, Right people with the right car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nice, light blue car, and very original. It's not fake! These cars were great, but competed against automobiles in their own company! We know better now. Thanks for showing it, Lou!
Hi Jed Clampett, Glad you enjoy this nice light blue car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing your thoughts, and you're welcome, Lou
Great car, reminds me of my brothers buddy from highschool, he had a 57 Coronet,, now can see the competition with Dodge and DeSoto lots of similarly, thanks for sharing Lou and"Howdy"as always Greg 😁
Hi Greg from TX, Happy to read this car brings back memories from High School :-) Good times, and you're welcome, Lou
Such a beautiful car. Lou seems to never disappoint. It always makes my day to watch this man pursew these wonderful Detroit creations. Allows me to to travel back in time and he does all the work. Thanks Lou.
Hi Tim Holder, Happy to read you're enjoying the Channel with me :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing a wonderful comment, and you're welcome, Lou
Wow what a neat old DeSoto! It sure looked like our 1958 Chrysler Saratoga. Very close. Our Chrysler had that same engine in it the hemi! Loved the color and the owners and that engine sound wow! I loved it. Thanks for sharing Lou!
Exner excellence! Beautiful 1957 DeSoto! I love these cars! I always wanted one of these, but I did own a 1956 model in 1972, and a 1958 model in 1968. Completely designed by Virgil M. Exner Sr. in 1955. The swept-wing fins of the Forward Look!
Note this one has single headlamps, but the 1957 models were also available with dual headlamps.
The only channel I know where I hit “like” before watching the video. Wonderful !
From the grill to the taillights, this car has considerably more style than a 57 Chevy Belair. Not sure why the Chevy gets so much attention. The Desota is a work of art.

Great car. I'm glad the owner has updated the brakes, carburetor & ignition. That idle is tooo sweet! My dad had a '57 Plymouth..but it was a 4 door sedan. Not as ornate as the Desoto. Not close. In the Chrysler hicheracy at the Time Chrysler was one, Desoto was two, Dodge was three and Plymouth was fourth.
Hi Gerry Hamm, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
The bugs in the grill show its authenticity as a driver car - so yeah, every good driver car has to have bugs in the grill. They get cooked and makes for survival food when ya get stranded - lol. I love the car and love these folks! A-1 kinda people. John and Ron, are very cool. Just stay out of her way when it comes to coffee. LoL
Good morning Lou, have a nice day. Incredible car, really🙋♀️👍👍👍
Good Morning Roberto, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Wishing you a nice day too, Lou

Hi Bud Lee, Happy to read you think this car is "cool" :-) Thank you for viewing, and you're welcome, Lou
I love that '57 DeSoto! It was a work of art, as were all of Chrysler's products. Virgil Exner was the man to beat! These cars are hard to find today. It's a shame, though, that quality started to slip.
I had my grandfathers 57 Fireflite when I was in high school back in 1971.
Hi BIGLOVE4TRUTH
, Glad to read this car / video brings back memories of your 57 Fireflight back in High School :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Hi BDOG JR, Happy to read you enjoy this Fintastic car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Lou, The '57 Chrysler & DeSoto products would have to be the most stunning looking American cars ever built !! Graceful & beautiful. Thanks for showing this great example!! Cheers Tiger.
Hi Tiger Rogers, High praise for the design of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and you're welcome, Lou

Lou I know you got some of those Road Runner's in the background and another vehicle I would love to possess.
Hi Gary Mckee, Type into CZcams search " My Car Story With Lou Road Runner " Enjoy! Lou
The '59 Desoto was my BIG favourite, now....love the '57, '58 and '59 equally much these days....Virgil Exner knew what he was doing! 😍😎👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Hi Lou hope your keeping Well nice iconic Car's best Wishes
Hi Stephen Smart, When I'm around cars, I'm well. Thank you for viewing, and sharing best wishes, and best wishes for you too, Lou
What a beauty. So glad that they drive it... How many shades of blue on the interior?
Hi Uri Deamabal
, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car, and yes, fun they drive it too. How many shades of blue? Seems like at least 3 to me, Lou
Beautiful car - Chrysler Produced from low to high: Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto, Chrysler, and I M P E R I A L
Hi towrnghrybear
, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing the low to high production. That was helpful, Lou
Back then it took awhile for a Drawing to become the clay Model and then make Production . But it does have that 56 Lincoln eyebrows with recessed head light and that rear bumper exhause eliptical opening on the Premiers .
If it had quad lights up front it would pass for a 1958 FORD if someone didn't know both cars very well . 1958 was the year the National DOTS allowed the smaller quad set-up that had the seperate High beams to make it safer at night than the older large dual light when one failed .
That light blue works well with the 3 colour interior . My video seems to make it look like there's a light green hue to the inside in some spots .
"Nice fins"... Licence plates are a strong point!
Hi!
Your videos are very good. Good choice of cars...good detail.
I just need some more time...
As far as licence plates, I have a few hundred pictures of some good ones, I took on this last 30 years going after nice cars, in Auctions, Concours and Classic car races.
Keep up the good work!
To put it into perspective you can see why GM was starting to panic in '57.
If that my car I drive it too so kudos for bugs in the grill can't blame him for upgrading the breaks to disk
you can see the Chrysler parts bin in that car it looks every bit a detuned 300 but that Real Hemi nothing like that nothing at all. thanks Lou
Hi fox 6, Happy to read you enjoy the details of this car :-) Me too. You're welcome, Lou
That is not something you see everyday. Quite unique.
Hi Steel Assault
, Happy to read appreciate the uniqueness of this car :-) Lou
The DeSoto was lower priced than the Chrysler that it's based on, but it did not compete with the Dodge, it competed with Oldsmobile. It was more expensive than the Dodge, except for the new-for-57 Firesweep, which was a Dodge-based car.

I could be wrong but wasn't the Mopar hierarchy Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler, Imperial ?
Hi Steve, Something like that. Hoping a Viewer with more knowledge can share, Lou
Great stuff & car, good times . Interestingly, I must agree the Brakes/drivability preps, etc: admittedly I look closer at Factory/Dealer OEM CARS......Driving cars may be best...
Even for drums, Mopar brakes of this era left something to be desired, especially when they got hot.
Lovely car, my first girlfriend had one. Unfortunately they rusted terribly here in Ohio.
Hi Gloria Lotz, Happy to read this car brings back memories for you :-) Hope you see many more cars on this CZcams Channel you enjoy, Lou
Need to ask owners if the was a rust bucket or did they restored it.etc
How was de Soto lower end? I thought these were high end cars
I think Desoto was above Plymouth and Dodge. A step under Chrysler. Imperial was at the top.
Very nice as always Lou, thanks. Desotos are rare, that sound of the 341 if it was original was outstanding........ but what the h@£l is there cupholders and wrong fabrics on the front seat, thats not good. But it is a free country though.
Hi Herr bananhjärna Smith, Happy to read you appreciate the rarity of seeing this car :-) Lou
Now THAT is a beautiful automobile! Just compare it to a dumpy looking late model Chrysler 300.
Lovely car, but also a Fury Rip Off.
Well. The. 58 is.

Lower end product?????? Boy are you wrong....Desoto was an upper end product, dodge and Plymouth made up the cheap end in this time frame.....my god man....get it together. Crap I am afraid to watch the rest of the vid now...
Hi David Smith, Stay with it.....that's why there is a comment section, and you can share you thoughts right along with the rest of the people watching the Channel. Stay well, Lou
The 50s-70s Chrysler cars WERE THE ROLLING AMERICAN DREAMS....The QUALITY OF THE CAR, STYLES, AND AWSOME CRUISING RIDE OF THESE CARS WILL NEVER BE EQUALLED...BEST CARS EVER TO ROLL ON EARTH!
Hi John, High praise :-) Lou
