- Roundtables are back! Tune in Monday, May 23rd for the premiere of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2016 Emmy Roundtable season, and every day after for new Roundtable videos. Who do you want to see on this season’s Roundtables? Tell us in the comments below!
"What I like about Leo is that he is not just only an actor, he's coming from a filmmaker's point of view. He understands the film. He's not about ego, vanity, or 'me, me,' says 'The Revenant' director, Alejandro G. Inarritu on the film's leading actor, Leonardo DiCaprio. Inarritu also directed Oscar favorites 'Birdman' and 'Babel'. DiCaprio has starred in several Oscar nominated films including 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', 'The Aviator', 'Blood Diamond', 'The Wolf of Wall Street', as well as his more memorable roles in 'Titanic', 'Catch Me If You Can', 'The Departed', 'Revolutionary Road', 'J. Edgar', and 'Django Unchained'.

Inarritu's a genius. A pleasure to hear his thoughts.
a true fucking artist... i cannot wait for The Revenant
Hell yeah!!
Watched it. It's amazing bro.
+Stolen. Me too ... and if I can say DiCaprio's perfomance was great, but for me the real star was Tom Hardy ... amazing
+Chris Carmona viva Mexico
Its a hella movie tho
Quickly becoming one of my favorite directors. The dude is a true artist. I can't wait for the Revenant.
Alejandro, Ridley and Quentin in the same table, daaamn. I can't wait. When will this be available in its entierty?
This guy is a fucking genius. Me hace orgulloso ser latino.
+CD Rivera WORD
I love how he subtlety introduces Spanish words into his english "osea" lol
This man is a genius, He deserves ALL the Oscars.
I love that 4 directors from this roundtable have worked with Leo :)
Inarritu, Tarantino and Boyle together, amazingg!
I can listen to him talk for hours and hours! Genius!
Three of the best film directors of all time at one table. Nice job.
FUCK!! that table is filled with genius
+I Killed Bill TWO geniuses for me....
+Vedant Naik just two? really?... well wich two?
Ridley Scott, Innaritu and Tarantino. Sorry I meant three. David O Russel's films are average, Tom Hooper has been on a steady decline since the height of the King's Speech and Danny Boyle was used as a doormat on Steve Jobs. Plus Scott and Tarantino and the only two directors to have made true blue classics (Blade Runner, Pulp Fiction) while I'm sure Innaritu's films will be remembered as classics (Birdman) but the other three haven't made films that will stand the test of time in my opinion and THAT is the hallmark of a genius for me.
+I Killed Bill they all have big heads.
+Vedant Naik i almost argued for o russell for the fighter but yeah your right. ridley has a good catalog but alot of people dont consider him an artist more like a machine
wow! What a fucking honor to be seat on that table with such fantastic directors.
I’m not so big about flags and nationalities. Patriotism I think is for people without personality or criteria BUT listening to him really made me feel proud of being born and raised in Mexico. Specifically México City ❤️
I still think Amores Peros might be his best work, I saw it just once on TV a long time ago when I was still in high school but it has stuck with me to this day especially the story of the model and the dog that went missing.
Very confident Director.. Respect..!!!!
I can't wait for the entire round table. learn from the experts.
Beautifully said by Alejandro.
this is a dope group for the roundtable!
Beautiful Alejandro González Inarritu😍😍😍😍😍
Awww, he popped "o sea" out of instinct. How cute!!!!
That is such a lovely accent. It never gets old man.
The Revenant was DiCaprio's best work ever BAR NONE!
This is so awesome!
Alejandro and Quentin are the best at the table
this is a crazy talented group of people, is this roundtable up yet?
love this guy bro
My favorite director innaritu..genius master of real movie
To be fair I think Leo's best performances have been when he has a very vulnerable side. Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, The Departed, and The Revenant. The Exception is Wolf of Wall street.
I find some people mistake his consistently good film selection for excellent performances in the case of Blood Diamond, Django, Inception and Gangs of New York, which are slightly over-rated.
+Louis Davies His Django character was the only thing I found enjoyable about the movie
p1nkrocket Fair enough, although I thought Jackson stole the show in that. Dicaprio was good.
Agree! I am in love with the Departed and how he played that. It was a masterpiece. But I DO NOT AGREE with the second part of your comment...Blood Diamond was among the best if his performances and personally, even if he was not that present in Django it is one of my favourite performances of his
God, he is such a hunk!!!! Seriously, he's SO handsome
Me siento pesimo porque nada mas he visto 'Birdman' y me da cosa ver sus otras peliculas como Amores Perros o Biutiful ya que parece tener un estilo super extremo que solo los cineastas con la maxima preparacion psicologica podran superar.
Translation: This dude's badass.
Yeah the middle budget films are kinda disappearing.
"I adore the accent and way he talks especially when he say "physically
Que baita filme
Alejandro slips a couple of "ósea"s in there lol
Dream roundtable:
PTA
Wes Anderson
Nolan
Tarantino
spielberg
cameron
fincher
scorcesse
inuarritu scott
My favourate Leo performance is from WEGG.
Michael Bay was talking about the middle-ground for filmmaking dissapearing as well. That studios either want you to do huge budget films, or very small films.
Heist Everything Lol.......
Genius
That accent is crazy impeccable
Let's see if he can do it two in a row. Pretty remarkable.
Best Round Table: Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, Alejandro G. Innaritu, Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Alfonso Cuaron, the Coen Brothers, Francis F. Coppola, Tim Burton, Peter Jackson, David Fincher and Roman Polanski.
A lot of them would be like, old now.
3:37 - "Yeah"
KNjOWEnterprises Yeaaaaaaa
film riot @!
I can't understand what Alejandro says at 2:26. Do you?
Cosmonauta Films "This is the first one, and last one maybe."
alejandro es un chingon de chingones.....viva mexico y todo latinoamerica. ....ojetes.......
I really don't like this format of stitching together all the bits of each director, you lose the best part of the roundtable, which is seeing them interacting with each other. But they post so much of it that watching the whole thing in January won't be nearly as much fun.
I agree. we saw all the fun now.
I want a movie directed by Alejandro with Lubezki as the cinematography and with this actors: Christoph Waltz, Eva Green, Demian Bichir, Anne hathaway and Michael Keaton that will be A GREAT GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! or maybe with Quentin Tarantino
What david o. russell doing there tho? warming up the seat?
Can't help but notice - no women at the table. And this isn't HR's fault or anything, just representative of the overall structural issue that HR is actually highlighting across all it's forums. So well done.
HE SO HANDSOME AND HOT
David O'Russell & Tom Hooper are the only directors at this table that have not worked with DiCaprio
5:23
the things is, I do think Tarrantino would make a film, just to watch it for himself XD
not a knock against him, just seems to be his personality
sllsllsllsllsll Yeah! Coz he loves cinema for itself, not for what others see or what film gives.
January 3rd? Why wait that long?
Leonardo killed himself for this movie! I want to see him speak on stage at the Oscar accepted his LONG OVERDUE award.
Jillbert Grape?
Why is Christoph Waltz in the table?
2:25 What is Inarritu saying that makes everybody laugh?
D'Ascoyne he said this is the first one and last one maybe
Danny Boyle was there too who worked with Leo on one of Boyle's worst films in my opinion.
I cant believe Leo didnt win with this
AGI, QT, and DB, don't know about the rest
What did he say? What was the joke?
I couldn't believe what I heard
***** THANK YOU!!!
+Fred Saddi-Naccache I was killing myself ,not knowing what he said, thanks you saved the day hahaha
all we miss is JJ Abrams, the director who made the biggest movie, ever. In 2015.
+Manphilip The movie title 'star wars' sells by itself no matter who was directing that film.
+We Do Not Sow sure, but not effing it up is the hardest thing for probably the highest anticipated movie of all time with millions and millions of existing fans through decades. And til now, the reviews are good and the fans are happy. That's not easy and JJ Abrams should be recognized for it.
Alejandro if you ever read these comments, would you consider making a movie about the life of Cynthia Ann Parker? Cynthia was 9 years old when she and her brother were kidnapped by Comanche, Kiowa and Caddo Indians in 1836.
Cynthia (renamed Nadua 'keeps warm with us'), lived a happy life with the Comanche for 25 years, married and had 3 children, one of which is the famous Quanah Parker. She died not long after Texas Rangers forced her to return live with white people again.
If you read "Rides The Wind" by Lucia St. Clair Robson, this little paperback book will yield lots of valuable information for the movie. I would like Tom Hardy to be cast in the movie and Jennifer Lawrence to play the part of Cynthia. Thank you.
¿Que?
Just look at QT's face of disgust 0:33 min.
Make a movie about shoalin monks that can fuck you up in seconds
i wonder why frank miller wasnt there? was he not invited or he couldnt come?
the last joke was awkward.
The only thing Inarritu's films convey is extreme boredom for the viewer. I was seriously going to watched The Revenant, when I found out this guy was the director I changed my plans immediately.
