The mongoose was very calculative. Kept distracting the lion looking for a nearby hole probably. You could tell it had respect for the lion and knew the second it ran the lion would pounce so it kept turning back until it found the nearest escape route.
Yes the lion could of demolished the mongoose at any given time, but the HEART of the mongoose to still stare down and stand up to the lion even after it was let go is unmatched... WoW!

Their predatory instinct does not trigger when prey doesnt run away, but stands it's ground. Besides that this seemed more like playing to me, seeing how the big cat was wagging it's tail.

That was just awful to watch!!! I'm so glad that the little Mongoose got away but I feel so bad for the little fellow because of it's injuries! It must have been in a lot of pain! I hope the little Braveheart was able to pass away in peace with its family to comfort it with their presence and love! The poor little darling!
