It's all about countries who don't usually travel outside. Countries with population who usually travel outside have more restrictions.

@@Lulu-wv1nt No, it's all about countries whose citizens collect visa or travel illegal, enter into different countries and never return. This is how most countries lose their visa free status. In the 80s Botswana and Zambia almost lost their visa free status to most European countries because a lot of West Africans were using their passports to travel to Europe and North America. They were saved when the European Union was formed and individual country visas were reviewed.

I would reserve that pride for now. Many of those countries, like Lesotho and SA, enjoyed far greater passport privilege in the past, but corrupt passport and immigration officials who sold passports to people from less desirable populations, got the passports degraded. I would be more concerned to put pressure on governments to clean up corruption and ensure those passports do not slide further down the scale.

Improve state institutions and prevent your people from going to other countries illegally or legally but then to overstay their welcome or engage in criminal activities in other countries.

Other than SA… common factor in all the other mentioned countries is low population… Seychelles for example has a pop of 100,000 people… so they aren’t out there disturbing the peace in other countries !
Based on your logic Eswatini, Comoros, Gambia, etc should be on the list. However, population size is not a factor in determining passport strength. With the exception of Lesotho, the countries on the list are middle-income countries with high GDPs. A strong and stable democracy also helps.

Population of Sychelles is only 100 000 and I would say 80% of the citizen do not hold a passport, have you ever met anyone from Sychelles in your life?😂 I can bet the answer is no unless you have been to Sychelles.
It's actually because of how peaceful we leave here, there is close to none discrimination. Yes we're a very small nation still developing but alot of people have passports more than 70% I presume. 😂. Everybody is connected to the internet even the old folks have smartphones lol, it's touristic yes with huge a** hotels that I bet most of us couldn't afford a night in. Apart from that it's like everywhere else but on a much smaller scale with the most peaceful environment you could be in that's why most of those nations like Seychelles. Get your facts straight. Very educational. I echo what someone already mentioned in the comment. It is sad that no West African country is in the top six. As you mentioned in the video, some of the factors that ensure a strong passport are obvious. Things like stable government and economic prosperity. These are the things our Govt in Wes Africa should think about working on. I found this video interesting because for a long time, I have had on my list to create content on why Gambia or Ghana passports are the strongest in West Africa. Actually, Cape Verde is the strongest in West Africa but I want to do Gambia or Ghana which are second and third respectively. Amazing narration and visuals in this video. Mauritius and seychelles have 2 of the most powerful passport in Africa. They have visa free entry to over 150 countries.They do allow visa on arrival from lots of African countries,but papers have to be checked thoroughly on entry. Nigeria and most of the African counties you mentioned are not there yet. There are lots of ID fraud.It’s a sad fact. Other African countries such as Tunisia and Algeria, don’t allow lots of African from coming in.

Which countries are the expected ones? According to your presentation, SADC countries are at the top, and that does not surprise. More order, except instrumentalised disorder by foreigners from both within "Africa" itself and beyond. And we know which country is obsessed with South African documentation that they are ready to cause all sorts of mayhem just to have access to SA passport.
Is this a 'how to' for country hopping and bypassing immigration restrictions?
Those countries have to ensure that they have stringent and incorruptible immigration rules and processes if they want to maintain the fluidity of travel their passports allow. Otherwise the great immigration tricksters, the Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, certain Europeans and Nigerians will trash your passports. Lesotho for example used to have visa on landing for Canada and the UK, and favourable immigration quotas, but the Chinese bought Lesotho passports from corrupt passport officials and then bypassed the limits that Canada had placed on Chinese immigration by using the relaxed immigration requirements placed on Lesotho passport holders. Canadian authorities made Lesotho aware of this abuse of process and gave Lesotho time to clean up their act, but the corruption continued. Consequently Lesotho now has stringent visa and quota requirements imposed by Canada. I have also met Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Europeans from non EU countries, in the UK in past years who had used South African illegally 'acquired' passports to gain entry to the UK. Guard your passports and citizenship if you don't want them to be downgraded.

Countries passports shouldn't be evaluated to such levels of importance, passports should be an identification mechanism which shows where an individual is from and to aloud he/she to travel where they want to go.
The distinguishing factor influences pride and discrimination, which brings us to a continent that has no understanding in unification , when you to Western Part of Africa they think they better, when to the Central African they think they better, when you turn southern people, they think they are better, when you turn to the Northern Part they call themselves something else. The young Africans still don't understand that yet....when will Africans start realise that united and sharing is what that is required for stability.
