Tip #2 is OP. Using an EQ to study other producers tracks is a big brain move. Also this whole video was a gem! Looking forward to part 2 👀
Every time I have looked for a tutorial for producing, THIS is what I was looking for. Not some copy me serum preset or some project file to download. Real constructive content. Thank you AHEE!!!
I just wanted to say thank you so much AHEE. You have no idea (well, you probably do actually lol) how invaluable it is to amateur producers like me to have access to tips, advice, and knowledge from someone I ACTUALLY LISTEN TO ALREADY. Your videos on spectral analysis and call and response completely changed the way I think about creating music and I feel so inspired by you, and the wonderful energy you bring to this community. You genuinely seem like such a great person and it’s clear how passionate you are about music and helping others learn it too. So, from a relatively new alien, THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤❤❤
P.S. I unfortunately missed your set at Shambhala because I had a shift during it but I saw some videos and it looked AMAZING! So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back next year!!
I’ve long used EQ to study my references, but it never occurred to me that I can resample it too for a deeper dive. It takes it to a whole new level!
Ahee is the man! Thanks my dude!!!
Love it Ahee, dopeness !!!!!!
The Best. Very very helpful Ahee!
Nice! great tips!!
Ok dude I been peeping some freqs on reference tracks but resampling those ranges is next level!
solid info in here thanks bro
That's crazy. I feel like just recently I realized that everything is volume. Every individual dynamic that you apply has a volume or just a measure of how present the effect is. Feels incredibly validating to come to find out that it is quite literally as it seems. Thank you god!
Great stuff thank you!
this was awesome man, thx a bunch!
You’re a excellent teacher! Great help can’t wait for lost lands. Not missing your set! ❤
All of the work you put into these videos and tutorials are greatly appreciated Ahee. Thank you for all you do for the EDM community and the music community in general. Cheers!
Wow this is amazing. Stuff I never thought about. Invaluable information
cheers man as always thanks
Thanks a lot man
Very helpful
Great video!
Yooo, love this video Chris! Using the EQ to pull out the kick and bass is such a great idea! Definitely going to use that. 👍🏼
This is such an amazing video bro!! Please make hundreds more like this one. You really have some gold information that would be so appreciated if shared. Thanks!!
I really love the Serum phasing section, I am going to start suggesting this video to people when I want to teach them about phase, thanks for the lessons!
Thanks for taking some time on each point and splitting this in to two parts.
Really awesome video, all of the tips were very useful. 🎉
just wanted to say your videos about gain staging and using span took my production skills from 60% to 95% almost overnight and i suggest them to everyone i meet. truely priceless knowledge people never talk about.
One of the best videos I've watched in a long time
My fav tip: timing and feel.
You can have the best production and your mixing can be completely on point, but if the feel just isn't there then you may as well bin the track.
Every question I wanted to ask you at Salmonfest this year you answered in this video. You're amazing and dont ever stop being you!!
10/10 tips, wish I knew all these years ago! Your phase cancellation explanation was on point
Wow this was really helpful! I can probably watch this 20 times before I get everything out of it fully.
I'm so glad i stumbled across your channel!
GREAT Video, bigup Ahee!
Been following your music for a while- have a few of your packs and what not, appreciate this insight with the examples! I’m going to use tip #2 today to do a studio sesh
TYSM it's so hard to find this much info in a video these days glad I clicked.
wow... this is gold
Awesome video! Also been having alot of fun with Sines of Life!
Thank you so much for these videos 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🖤🖤👽
SO GOOD
You’re the goat for this 😎
Thanks for that video!
I found it very authentic and EVERYTHING IS VOLUME!
😁
thank you!
fantastic video.
Great tips m8, thanks for sharing
Bro I don’t even know your music but I’m such a fan of your vibe and what you do for the producer community
Great video dude, I was thoroughly engrossed
Excellent awesome thanks.
Geezer, so glad i found your channel, i was involved with the UK garage scene in the 90's and i'm getting back into production, just for fun. You're one of the few guys showing really interesting, advanced techniques on the toobs, appreciate you sharing the knowledge. Any other suggested channels for advanced techniques? By the way, over on my (you know what) i just posted a Serum preset of that classic garage / jungle siren, but i'm sure you could make a better go of it (i only got 60% of the way there!).
Ahee 🐐
Ahee you good people ❤
Your the man wish you nothing but good things
U da best ❤️❤️
Thank you
Thanks man... I value your existence greatly.
Awesome

I love the EQ tip… how can I get my fav songs into Ableton like that?
you're the BEST
you also exude passion when you speak and it's really motivating
Volume 😮👌🏼
Tip 2 made me subscribe
you amazing
AWESOME VIDEO new sub
Hi! Thank you & Welcom! I have a ton of tutorials from last 3 years that I think are all still useful information if you get inspired to dive into em.
using smash mouth as an example for a pickup beat got me good.
Amazing tutorial as usual! For your tip #2, I highly suggest using RIPX and their trial version, you will be able to take your favorite tracks and get stems out of it, amazing for studying specific sounds!
if you are computer savvy, you can can use spleeter to do the same thing and it's free
@@Nova_Afterglow True, I tried both and had better results with RIPX
Love this video! for some reason my collections always displace the items inside it, example; eq will end up in synths folder after an hour of being in the project and things will fly around between the folders, doesnt make sense its been happening for years now.
#3 was fucking insane. I don't know why no one else explains phasing like that
HOLY FUCK AHEE YES!!!!
establishing your own is all about racking shit up and making it ieasy to get at and use later
yeeeee
You have the energy and passion of a conspiracy theorist talking about the moon landing when you talk about music. I love it man.
I conspire with sound lol
Part 2!!! (:
Hey man great video. Thanks for all the amazing insight over the years! I was wondering if you'd be able to elaborate a little more on the mono/stereo relationship pertaining to clubs/festival systems since you have experienced them first hand. People always say most major systems are mono. When I hear that, I'm thinking the whole frequency spectrum is mono even on the speakers with no sub in them. So with your reese example, is just putting a separate sub under it all you need for it to translate ok? The topic of mono compatibility in regards to everything happening above the sub is something I've been unsure about and sometimes feel like I'm making my mix too thin to make sure its mono compatible.
I've been a club and festival sound engineer and dance producer for many years now. Major club and festival systems are not mono at all, but the sub end is, it's omnidirectional. Basically just mono everything below 90hz and you're golden, I tend to high pass at 30hz too to take the weight off the amps. I also think it's a good idea to have your main mix elements straight down the middle, especially things like snare for impact. This fad of having everything in mixes super wide is kind of a fallacy too, if everything is wide in a mix then nothing is wide so just have a couple of elements fully panned left right and you'll get a wide enough mix, autopan is you friend here, haas if you know how to control it.
Obviously always check your mixing for mono comparability too.
@@billB101 alright cool, thanks for the response man!
It's all just volume. #mindblow
Ahee is daddy your a ducking legend
So when your writing/producing are you adding effects and compression to groups or tracks as you go and then taking away or are you waiting for the most part to process sounds and groups after.
I have a Question: when you demonstrate the phase cancellation at 10:02 the Correlation Meter stays perfect at 1.00 Shouldn't it be the other way around? Why is that?
And why is it fixed, when you take out the low and bring in a separate Sub? Dont you still ask the speaker with the mids and high to be in more then one positions at the same time?
If anyone could answer my question, I would be very happy! :D
I felt personally attacked for organizing
Wait my understanding was that when using spam that bar at the bottom right shows you if its canceling but in your clip its staying green ?
Halp! I'd love to try tip #2 , but how do i download other artist's music?
Ahee, what DAW’s are you using in this tutorial.
if you reinstall windows your .ADG won't show what vst you don't have (missing)
I refuse to believe you are not like 24 or 25. Dude you look so young.
hey.. a compressor is not about how loud things can get as you state in the video. A compressor is not a limiter. Only a brickwall Compressor acts like a Limiter.
a compressor is a tool to set the dynamic range.
does this mean you shouldn't use compression on the master?
Im trippin on what you said about the speaker not being a quantum object..... BUT WHAT IF IT WAS?? What could it do? .... and I wonder how difficult would it be to invent one?
👽👽
why is span better than Abelton's Spectrum?
Wish u could make a fl20 one lol i learn alot from you and get inspired bro ty ty.
A template is in the works for FL
Hahhaa...I thought you plugged S1gns of L1fe 😂😂😂

Every time I see ahee I think of a guy I see at my local venue I'm 99% he is your clone he has the same voice but I'd say he's 6' 5"
u pretty cool crazy lizard-tail-hat-wizard-guy
still can’t get span to open 😂🔨
Hopefully you back up your computer, it must've taken a long time to organize everything so nicely

Yeah....about speaker cones...how dafuq do they actually produce sound?...I mean, a simple sinewave I can somewhat understand....but how about a intricate, very busy mix, where you have the full frequency spectrum occupied...how can it produce subs, lows, low mids and mids at the same time?!?!?!?!?😢
They dont. The frequencies are split across different drivers. Thats why a good 3 way speaker is so effective.
@@stelthtenau ok, then another q, how dsfuq can it produce human voice, guitar, percussion and synths at the same time ?
@@va941 it doesn't. Just as explained in the video the speaker moves in and out making high and low air pressure. Put a track in your daw and look at the sound wave of the track. This is what the speaker is attempting to reproduce. A two way speaker will play low frequencies and mid frequencies from the larger cone, while the high frequencie driver (tweeter) is typically playing high mids up to highs.
This is why mixing is so crucial. We are not plaing a bunch of individual sounds like you say but rather playing those sounds combined into one waveform.
Hope this helps
@@stelthtenau hi, thanks for taking time to reply to my questions wich someone could have took for trolling, but i am actually still baffled by this technology, i need to find a visual on this, same with video etc 😵💫
this kind of exploring needs to be understood more. no more presets n shit

AHEE, I'm mixing today electronic music with the genre Bluegrass....
I'm trying to peal back the layers... of the formula from Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt, and Josh Graves... Broski, there's an electronic genre missing in history...
🪕🎻🎚🎛🎹
I'm starting to get somewhere with the concept... I've been working on it for 3 years...
I've been trying to talk the Great's into it...
Such is yourself...
I know there's something incredibly profound here...
I keep telling people Bluegrass doesn't have to sound like bluegrass to be bluegrass...
