I was still fairly new to Staind, I heard the live version before the studio version and agree that the live is better. I find the live tempo much more suitable to the lyrics than the studio version.
He has such a unique, beautiful and powerful voice. Somber....but so relatable.

I have it arranged to play at my funeral when my time comes..when you get a chance hear this song live version. He really belts it out live. They have a lot of great songs to react too!! One of my fav bands!!! He is my fav Rock singer! Love his country music too

I think the song you're referencing with Amy Lee wasn't with Aaron Lewis, it was with Seether and titled "Broken". Beautiful song.
STAIND I'm subbing because of this. STAIND is one of my all time faves. Seen them inside arena's, outside in the pouring rain (was the best) and solo Aaron. This version is the studio version which is outstanding, but the live version at Mohegan Sun is prob the best. STAIND has helped me thru some of the toughest times in my life. So many great songs and not the popular ones like Outside, Mudshovel, or It's been a while. I'm talking about songs like Excess Baggage, Waste, Raw, Me, Schizophrenic Conversations, Just Go, to name a few....This song was actually the last song on the last STAIND album before they went on hiatus in 2012. And have yet to return with new music

Would love to see what y'all think of Dan vasc he does covers mostly...heart of steel-manowar cover (song starts at about 1:10), all I need-within temptation,ever dream-nightwish. Those are great displays of his talent and love for singing...the dude needs more reactions he's Brazilian so I think most people just don't hear of him. He has songs in multiple languages but mostly English the dude is a beast and if you love emotion he's got all of it

The live version is so much better.
Aaron's live performances are better than his studio versions. He's done acoustic covers of AIC "Nutshell" Tool's "Sober" and even "what Hurts the Most" (can't think of the bands name) plus some of their original stuff like "Mudshovel" Schizophrenic Conversations" and "Zoe Jane" Go down this rabbit hole you won't be disappointed.

The live version is far more better. Even though i’m Hindu, knowing the fact they won’t, I honestly want this song to be played in my funeral.
