Hell yeah. Someone gotta tell ol Jon though.. this is just straight up West Texas, ha. Balmorhea is what weâve got. Feast or famine, straight up. Had days pulling 10+ fish on shore, and weeks of getting skunked. Itâs just the nature of the beast. The worst part is you can spot them all in that channel and attempt to sight fish em but theyâll just have you breaking your rod in half. That area is so high pressure cause itâs the only viable spot to fish without a boat, particularly in spring. Theyâre finicky!
I gotta tell you, I absolutely love these mini series where you full send it to new places and try to figure them out. Makes for awesome content and inspires everyone to get out there. Keep it up, we appreciate it! đ€đ»

Luckily here in PA they have yet to actually cancel any seasons. They have however postponed regional trout openers and the opening day. I have been fishing quite a bit lately but havent been catching anything. Hope everyone can get out and enjoy the fresh air.

I went on a fishing trip way north in Ontario. I went for 4 days, every day was just pouring rain. We flew 8 hours on a float plane so we decided to just dress for the weather and get out there. Iâm telling you it was well worth it! Best 4 days Iâve had fishing in my life. Each cast you could watch 5,6,7 really good size fish follow your lure it was insane! Now I welcome the rain when I fish. Caught plenty of massive speckled trout on that trip. Sucks that the province Iâm currently living in has put a ban on fishing. At least I have your videos to keep me occupied for the time being but it only makes me want to get out there even more! I sure do miss it.
From those of us in the Texas Panhandle - Howdy Jon, we have decent fishing too, but we gotta wait for them to open back up after this pandemic. Lake Meredith is considered one of the best walleye lakes in the state, and we have several smaller reservoirs like McKenzie, Greenbelt, and Fryer. There's a bunch of us in Amarillo and Lubbock if you wanna hit us up sometime. Love how you're shining some light on west Texas

I'm from New Orleans, LA and work out here in Pecos, TX. A couple of my jobsites weren't far from Balmorhea, one time I took a drive out to that lake just to see water for the first time in a while, and wondered if there was fish, but never took the time to go try, plus all my fishing gear is back home. Nice to know theres fish there.
I like that Jon B. can get back from an epic fishing expedition and still feel so bummed at the prospect of being unable to fish for two weeks that heâll drive to the end of nowhere to try his luck at a lake heâs never heard of.

i grew up going to this lake being the only close lake in far west tx. that creek was our go to spot.
You started hitting it late in this vid...not sure if you left out some temps when you reviewed them but I would probably be on secondary points about 4-5 ft of water and slow rolling under spins, jerk baits and spinner baits. Match the hatch as possible. It would make sense that those places would be where the females are, given that the males are already up shallow. Try to hit some warm spots in those temps. Brush piles, feeder water, rock piles. That sort of thing. Thanks for another great vid. Love that you went out of your comfort zone, did the research and found a lake with better weather. That is awesome.
Nice video like always. I got so pumped from your last videos from Sudan I called my friend and we went fishing on the Jetty and some secret spots here on the South Coast Oregon. (Like I said I was going to do in last Sudan video) It was awesome!! We caught perch, sea bass, snapper, sea trout and I think even had a middle size cod or halibut on but it broke my line. That is actually thelake where i grew up fishing at and i now live in DFW (Carrollton). There are definitely some tanks in that lake, mainly in the channel you were at, but it is heavily pressured by the locals. From dam area and towards the houses can be good too, cranking squarebills or lipless..
Opening day trout tomorrow and I'm going. I've been waiting since October to get back after them.

In West Virginia residents dont have to have a fishing license until I think april 30th they're encouraging people to go fish and enjoy the outdoors(except you cant go camping) but like hiking and fishing and stuff as long as you can keep your distance from others and everyone is doing just that which is wild because we only have 162 cases as I know on April 2nd which is really low compared to everyone else

Same here in Arkansas, flooding, quits for a few days floods for 2 weeks.
If you like decent sized Bass, then take a trip up to St. Germain, Wisconsin on a lake called Lost Lake. It holds a bunch of bass and the lake is not overfished, so the chances of catching some bass are pretty good. There are also some cribs set up with an ungodly amount of fish around them. The lake is also loaded with state record muskies (over 55 inches some of them). Last August, I managed to bring in a 5 pound, 18 inch largemouth. I know that isnt the biggest fish, but the fish there put up one heck of a fight, even the little bluegill.
