For the rust on those rocker panels, I usually find it easier just to cut them off, grind & paint them & weld them back on. Especially easy on the Lads, only 2-3 cuts to drop them. Other cars are a bit more involved...
I think the key is on the flippers is to know what the car is worth and get the cheapest, rustiest one you can find. You know that a LAD is worth about 13K totally restored, so buying one for 6-7K with a tiny bit of rust on it won't be worth it. Same thing with the Niv. They are worth maybe 11-12K fully restored.
