I have been saved for twenty years now and I do not listen to Kirk Franklin like I use to that's because of levels of maturity in God. I still love him and greatly admire his work for the Kingdom of God! I have a understanding that the Lord uses Kirk Franklin and his music as the bait to lure young folks out of the world and secular music and into the Kingdom of God and godly music. So, just pray for Him and keep Him lifted up before God so that he can continue to be of service in the Kingdom!
i understand your meaning, sis... i wouldn't call it 'bait' music, though, hahaha (i got a positive chuckle out of that)... i call it "a different tool god uses to call to us from where we are" - remeber, some folks grew up in church and heard hymns around their house... then wandered down their own path as they grew up... and don't you know, it'll be that same hymn that finds its way into their sphere of influence that God will use to draw them back to himself...when the time is right. In that way, those old gospel hymn could be defined as 'bait music', too!
Maybe a song created to draw attention to God, regardless of its musical style, should just be called - "gospel music"

It's not that his songs are not holy anymore. It's because you have matured in the Lord and are on another level in God. When I first got saved all I could listen to was Kirk Franklin because it had that familiar sound and as I listened to the words of the song, I was transformed. I couldn't handle Shirley Ceaser, Andre Crouch or The Winans back then. It would have been like giving a baby solid food. God meets us where we are at and takes us from glory to glory.
