Mr. Petrucciani. You’re an inspiration to me as a musician who has a disability. Thank you for refusing to let your light be snuffed out by physical challenges.
A long time ago, a girlfriend of mine gifted me a Petrucciani CD. I listened to this music and loved it for years before I found out who Petrucciani is. I cried so hard, when I learned about the person behind these fabulous performances.
It's really a pity that I never saw Petrucciani play live. When I got to know him he already was dead again. I visited his grave on the cimetière Père-Lachaise in Paris which is next to Frédéric Chopin's one. What an honour! Two piano gods side by side.
There will never be another Michel. I've listened to hundreds of Jazz pianists and I've never heard anyone play with the kind of beautiful lyricism of this legend.
I've returned here a hundred times through the years. Fantastique. Encroyable! Just came from reading local media and a polemic about the annoying fact that nowadays the audience gradually gets up with a standing ovation at concerts after almost every piece. If one had to single out a performance that calls for a standing ovation, this is the one. Thank you for being among us. Un grand merci au Maëstro Pettruciani ❤
Some people will tell you just practice... but I think we all know its not exactly true. I played a fair bit of guitar too, and I think the more one tries to improvise this well the more one finds out it takes much more than just practice to achieve this level of expression. Practice alone wont teach you the feel and freedom of playing perfect music that transcends different genres and styles seemingly at will. It takes genius.
This right here has me at the brink of tears as a fellow musician... Watching him play this while looking up and the way he is feeling it is just awesome!! It's just a masterpiece!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yes, from the first note to the last, this IS indeed a masterpiece! So many different temperaments. Full of life and beauty! And I had a tear in my eye from the third bar out…
I wasn't born with any disabilities and I cant wrap my head around how amazing he was. If he's still out there I hope he knows what an ibnspiration his life has been.
I just per chance bumped into one of videos a few days ago. I now can't get enough of listening to him; he is astounding. His modulations, technique, intonations are just incredible. What a loss of a great musician ! Bravo, Michel !
This is the music of a man that knew more than anybody that our life on earth could be snuffed in an instant. Bless his soul for what he left behind for us to enjoy.
Thanks to the algorithm for introducing me to the intense pleasure of Mr Michel Pettruciani's exquisite talent. Bright stars burn out quickly, so lucky to have much of his work recorded for us to enjoy forever. Beautiful, I have an eclectic taste in music, so glad to add this gentleman to a list of pleasures to indulge in
I've seen Michel Pettruciani in 1993 in Porto (Portugal). I was young and I didn't know very well the artist. I had a so strong feeling on hearing his music, his way to play piano... All his life is a lesson for us.
Jazz is many times so much more than just skill and to me, it's like the best jazz always has a certain state of mind. I believe if you are beautiful within, beautiful music will come from your hands. THANK YOU MICHEL, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
This man was THE MAN. Every performance he was in pain, and he just played through it. And the level of virtuosity he achieved against the adversity is awe inspiring. And he had one hell of a sense of humor. The man was hilarious.
The man was more pure musician than most people could everknow. To truly feel, you must give up the idea of self. It is something many people are afraid to do.
Thank you Michel, for showing the world that nothing is impossible. You were absolutely fucking amazing and inmense
Yo!
thanks to him I now know shortass dudes can play piano- maybe if he had no arms I would see something impossible lol
Just keep the bad language down. He's amazing.

😿💞
Doesn’t look at the piano and doesn’t miss a single note. Just incredible
That's because Music isn't physical, it's Spiritual. You play in the Spiritual Realm.
Music is coming from the Heaven here
For someone of his caliber, looking at the piano is usually irrelevant. You have two hands. You can't look at them both at the same time.
Beautiful
His spatial awareness is on point
It's really a pity that I never saw Petrucciani play live. When I got to know him he already was dead again. I visited his grave on the cimetière Père-Lachaise in Paris which is next to Frédéric Chopin's one. What an honour! Two piano gods side by side.
He was dead ‘again’, how many times did he die?
@@Robert-ts2ef Hehe - maybe hopefully also born again? ;-)

He’s the greatest French jazz pianist, but his talent is at the world’s zenith. Few over the last century can approach him.
Chopin played jazz .... i insist 😊😂😂❤
Assolutamente unico!!! Indimenticabile e insuperabile. Grazie maestrop❤❤❤

Such delicacy, emotion and feeling for a piece cannot be taught. It is straight from the heart
He's fucking amazing. It's just incredible. How the fuck does one even do that???

Apparently playing caused Michel great pain because of his disability, but he always did it anyways because the music just needed to express itself.

There are no flaws in Mr. Petruciani's piano artistry. He made his contribution of beautiful music.
The smoothest meastros ,him an Bill Evans , go places where just few musicians can go

Magiche melodie....come solo le sue mani sanno fare. Ripeto solo le sue mani. Bravissimo Me. Petrucciani

Yes, to those, like me, who has no serious disability, and can play a little, it seems criminal to be so idle and not do better.
he died back in 1999, because of his degenerative condition. he left quite a legacy, though.
Michel...vous étiez un géant!
I can't stop listening to this more and more every day ❤
A magician, so generous of his talent. His jazz will never die, he is not dead. Emotion every single time I share his music.

What a musician
Grande Petrucciani!

i like his style. hes not just a gimmick, brings something unique to the standards
