    A long time ago, a girlfriend of mine gifted me a Petrucciani CD. I listened to this music and loved it for years before I found out who Petrucciani is. I cried so hard, when I learned about the person behind these fabulous performances.

      For someone of his caliber, looking at the piano is usually irrelevant. You have two hands. You can't look at them both at the same time.

    It's really a pity that I never saw Petrucciani play live. When I got to know him he already was dead again. I visited his grave on the cimetière Père-Lachaise in Paris which is next to Frédéric Chopin's one. What an honour! Two piano gods side by side.

    I've returned here a hundred times through the years. Fantastique. Encroyable!
    Just came from reading local media and a polemic about the annoying fact that nowadays the audience gradually gets up with a standing ovation at concerts after almost every piece.
    If one had to single out a performance that calls for a standing ovation, this is the one.
    Thank you for being among us.
    Un grand merci au Maëstro Pettruciani ❤

      Some people will tell you just practice... but I think we all know its not exactly true. I played a fair bit of guitar too, and I think the more one tries to improvise this well the more one finds out it takes much more than just practice to achieve this level of expression. Practice alone wont teach you the feel and freedom of playing perfect music that transcends different genres and styles seemingly at will. It takes genius.

    • @hedgeclipper418

  • @Giuseppeskar
    @Giuseppeskar Před 6 lety +8

    Non c’è abbondanza di genialità, né gli uomini straordinari sono sempre plauditi e riconosciuti. Petrucciani ė uomo semplice del nostro tempo che fa del suo dolore una sublime opera d’arte, un linguaggio, uno stile che non deve piacere necessariamente a tutti sempre e comunque. Attraverso le sue scale al piano, i suoni, le armonie, le sue improvvisazioni, possiamo percepire il suo mondo, il suo senso della realtà espressa dalla sua anima sensibile e malinconica. Ė un punto di vista speciale che rapisce molti, selettivamente e senza presunzione alcuna. Il Maestro Petrucciani ci insegna il suo punto di vista vitale, creativo, essenzialmente unico, nonostante la malattia, la sofferenza di un dolore fisico che lo costringe ad esecuzioni faticose e poco convenzionali. Osservando I suoi sguardi persi verso l’alto mentre esegue estasiato uno dei suoi capolavori, possiamo condividere quella realtà invisibile ma ricca di ispirazione che solo lui scorge, elabora e traduce arrivando a noi con profonda sincerità, generosità, come fossimo compagni di un viaggio mistico nel quale ci conduce...
    Come tra i più grandi artisti colpiti da malattie imperdonabili, come Paganini, Van Gogh, Renoir, Beethoven, Michelangelo, Goya, Schumann e molti altri, Michelle Petrucciani meriterebbe a pieno titolo la fama di ‘genio’ e per questo lo ringrazio per aver testimoniato con la sua arte la bellezza della musica quale altissima espressione divina e di vita.
