- Is the Streamlight TLR-7 X worth the upgrade from the TLR-7A? Shan dives into the data and gives his thoughts on the new compact offering from Streamlight. Now dual fuel, and increased output, this TLR-7X might be the best compact weaponlight on the market.

HPL VIDEO IS LIVE: czcams.com/video/l1b1bXBzNOY/video.html
Please make a video about the tlr7a with tlr hpl face cap upgrade
This
He has an article on low light defense already.
Won’t be out for another 3 weeks
@@Redchew10 I know I actually I just want them to make a video about with more information that may have not been mentioned in the article
Article on LowLightDefense.com, but that is simply taking the RM face cap and putting it on a TLR-7x -- all publicly available stuff. We are waiting for official launch of any TLR-7-HPL products before releasing a video. Stay tuned!
Rechargeable just makes since. Finally getting around to checking into the value WML market. Thanks for the unbiased data.
Except...many many people have been using rechargeable cells in their 7A's for years now. Streamlight really dropped the ball here, should have had a lumens and candela bump!
Was just thinking this
Am I the only one that couldn’t care less about them upgrading the 7A? It works perfectly fine. It’s plenty bright for a pistol light. I wouldn’t want it any brighter. It has great form factor and the switches are intuitive. We don’t need perpetual upgrades to everything.
@@user-te3qq1rb7u Depends what the 7A is in comparison to. I have a 7A and a Foxtrot 2R, and the output difference is giant. The Streamlight switches are excellent, but it's hard to go back to the 7A after using higher horsepower lights.
@@user-te3qq1rb7u more candela (and even more lumens) only gives you BETTER capability, there isn't a downside to more performance other than increased battery drain, which I and most people will take ANY day.
The TLR7 is the bare minimum for a quality light, but doesn't hold a candle (pun intended) to the performance of lights like the Foxtrot2r which has more than double the candela and that should matter to anyone who carries a WML.
and candela is most greatly affected by the depth and focus of the reflector, and the LED emitter's efficiency so upgrading the TLR7 series isn't hard to do, they're just failing to capitalize on a significant market chunk.
commented almost the exact thing before I saw yours
Thanks for the quick review on its' value as a replacement. Not worth the $120 bones IMO. Maybe next time I but a TLR-7 but not running out and replacing the 3+ 7A's that I own with the 7Xs'.
The rechargeable battery voltage is different and over time can damage circuitry, that is the importance of X model…..🇺🇸✊
Thank you very much for the short, sweet, factually well based, and helpful video!
My locale is one of those who segregates / "separate-but-equals" right to carry.
So although I may not need a holster, I'll certainly check out your site!
Genuine question here, how much more comfortable is a tlr7 series vs a tlr1 on a g19/g45? For reference, I’m 5’11” 195 and got some thick thighs, tlr1 tends to dig into my thigh, no matter what holster I’ve tried
Much more comfortable. Either the 7A or 7X will be better for comfort. I don’t carry appendix with the TLR1 because the light digs into my thigh when driving. Not an issue with the 7A
Im just over here waiting for the TLR 7x HL 😊
The X sounds good!
Very informative. Thanks.
What light (and holster) do you suggest for a Shadow Systems CR 920 (not the CR 920X - I got a great deal on a CR 920 just as they released the CR 920X). I want to add a WML and start carrying the CR 920 in the Fall. Thank you for your advice.
Will the Tlr 7x still work with a regular non rechargeable battery?
Please make holsters for the FN 510 MRD with either TLR7X or TLR 1
Please bring back the M7 for an FN 510 Tactical with the Baldr Pro 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Would have switched my tlr8 ag to this if it was brighter, still 500 lums? The website says 1000 with they're rechargeable battery
Do you know if this performance upgrade would translate over to the TLR-7 Sub as well if you used just the battery from the TLR-7A
Thanks.
HPL head please
Facts. We're waiting on Streamlight at this point.
You can put a RM1 head on the X
so the fact i, or anyone, could use rechargeable 123s, makes this "upgrade" obsolete
This is great n all, but they need to re visit the tlr6😭 I’d gladly spend money on a rehashed tlr6
Tlr7x didn’t come with a rechargeable battery ?
No. They just come with a standard battery. They make you go and order one of their rechargeable ones. It's...sub-optimal.
Oh I gotcha
Nice
What happens with output when you put the rechargeable battery in the A or does it not fit?
It works
@@theproblem9315 thanks for the reply
@@Edge51It has always worked ... Every single Streamlight i own is on Rechargeable. And has been for many years. Even though Streamlight says rechargeable is not compatible.
@@theproblem9315could I use it in a TLR 8A since they both take the same standard battery?
@@navalsealsnipersports1199 that i dont have an answer for buddy! I would call streamlight and ask them. Their Customer service team is very very helpful
Not worth it with the release of the TLR-7 HL which has the same capabilities but 1000 lumens! But unless you want the same footprint for your holsters, then I can see the appeal of the 7X.
Why can’t it accept the 18350?
No. It is not! All the TLR 7 series lights are basically the same. Don’t waste money.
I’m just wondering if the new parts they put in are tested enough as the old light
The rechargeable battery voltage is different and could cause premature failure of circuit board fyi….that’s why the X came about
Too bad they couldn't make it rechargeable without removing the battery.
😂😂😂 oh now TLR wanna have a recharchable battery huh? Oh how innovative! Wait O-light been doing this longer and works. Im good 😂😂😂
I do need to get your works holster for the olights thought
...except it is an Olight... ;/
Too bad it's an OLight
There is nothing wrong with the Olights
@@sparty6511 Except for output, runtime, pickiness about batteries, cost, and tendency to explode.
