  • The Outreach Team's latest success story from the little town of Eliot, ME at the Seacoast Airfield!
We were part of another great event hosted by Flight4CF and Richard Little's team of amazing volunteers and friends. Saturday June 15th was a spectacular day for our fourth of eight events this year with Flight4CF. Check our Outreach team event calendar on the District 1 website if you want to join us as a volunteer or as a spectator!!
Volunteers at this one were Wayne Watjus and his wife Carol rocking the simulators and raffle and crowd relations! Steven Pickering maintaining our presence in the sky by doing intro flights and demos along with Liam Melvin helping everywhere and doing some demonstration flying as well, who also brought his father for a memorable father's day eve! I was bouncing around to wherever it looked like I was most needed, from the AMA booth to the flight line and back to make sure we all had a good groove going (so was everyone else for that matter, great flexibility by the crew).
Helicopter rides were buzzing through our airspace most of the day which sounded at first like it would be a hazard, but with a good pre-event briefing between our pilots, theirs, and the air boss, a great rhythm was found. We timed it perfectly, after their helicopter departed the airspace, we take ours up, and as they came back in on the opposite end of the event and landed, we bring ours back down and clear while they load their next passengers. Perfect 8-9 minute windows to fly with time to prep our intro flight students!
We raffled off a Hobby Zone cub to a lucky winner and arranged some intro flights with him at Fremont Flyers RC Club in the near future. Handed out our great trifold with all of our information on how to get started and where to find us, saving lots of time talking and "over sharing" of the hobby and ourselves to the hundreds that came to our booth. Find that trifold here in our toolkit- www.amadistric... -and download for your own use at any event because it really is "who we are and what we can help you do" in one sheet. It is all you need to hand to any newcomer with questions, I usually add my number or email to it (business card if you have one) to make sure if all else fails they have a point of contact to guide them.
The video is finally done where you can some of the helicopter coordination, intro flight fun, and other huge attractions that make these events unique, fun, and above all meaningful.
Working for the cause that got us there which is Rich's fight for curing Cystic Fibrosis. Amazing work by all of my guys and the entire event staff once again in making this event at Seacoast Airfield safe and successful in it's second year running!
District 1 Outreach Team's mission: Entertain, Educate, and Engage
    Mission accomplished this weekend guys!
