Following this saga, especially on Mutahar’s channel, it pains me to see it go from “strange” to “suspicious” to “scam.” Especially when TheCompletionist is running the charity under their passed mother’s name.
Edit: Yes, I’m aware that at the time of this edit (12/7/23) a donation has been made. However, a ton of questions as to how we got here still remain.
I’ve been suspicious of this dude after he had a “falling out” with his friend Greg and it lead to him monetizing it by re-recording the first 120 episodes of his show. Now I think his friend found out he and his family of scumbags were stealing from people under the guise of charity

Like, I was never some Jirad fanboy, enjoyed the format but saw clear faults in his claims of complrting said games, but I had always assumed it was him overreacting over some more normal drama and friendship breakup, but like, now I can't help but wonder how serious what caused their split considering we've seen the real Jirad now...
Hope everyone learns giving your money to a middleman so they can give to a charity is probably one of the dumbest decisions you could ever make.

Adjusting that amount to inflation, that's around 50-60k dollar value that was lost with the money sitting around all those years that was lost from charities. Great work

They didn't have all 650k in the account the whole time. The last couple of years is when the money really started to pile up. Still tho it did depreciate and even worse it could of actually helped someone.

The main argument of people defending Jirard has been that he's a nice guy. Yeah, so is every other scammer and con man in existence. That's what makes them successful at conning people out of all their money. If you just look at the facts he's at minimum a liar who didn't stop the con once he found out about it.
Whenever I hear the family started the charity, I just think of the "How bad can I be" song section "All proceeds go to charity"
On another note, not only holding onto the assets, but you could also go to a bank and borrow money against those assets, so not to say they’re not using them for some reason

Nothing is a secret, when are people gonna learn.. Literally nothing you can truly hide that someone can't find. Of course this was easy because they literally had to report everything which is public information but it's wild they knew that and still did nada with the money 😂

Just an update to everyone here, Jirards Open Hand Foundation donated $600k to a FTD Foundation this week...that's not the full amount and there's still a lot of $$ unaccounted for. Especially from the charity golf tournaments...So they 100% should be investigated still, but it's no longer the worse case scenario of all the money being gone.

I personally think that $600k is prob around half of all the money raised over the past decade...and ya, considering all the time that's passed, there's no reason to believe any donation would've been made if they hadn't been called out.

When things don't go his way he always brings up the sad things that has happened to him to get people to feel sorry for him. That is about to come now again. This whole situation is at best extreme negligence to criminal at worst. The completionist has been around for a long time in the gaming community so this is bound to have a massive ripple effect no matter what.

Most charities release statements quarterly or annually to donors about what they do. Even one year is too much imo
This is why if you want to donate you should always send your money straight to the org you want. Trusting celebrities and influencers to do it for you is lazy and rarely goes well.

This breaks my heart because the group that TheCompletionist was apart of, Normal Boots, was so important to me in hs as a lonely kid. I would watch them every day pretty much. I played every ending of Asagao Academy, their parody dating sim. Unfortunately, a few of them now have turned out to not be the most ethical (ProJared, Jontron) so it doesn’t really surprise me anymore. Just makes me really sad. Especially since my grandmother and a few my mom’s side suffer from Alzheimer’s. So heartbreaking :(
