I just about bought a Ducati, but Ended up with a nice Gixxer. Ducati is my dream bike as well, but I can't get over that sound. I love the looks and their performance but they sound like crap when they idle. Like I need to grab a wrench and look for a loose screw...
You're better off asking the ducati dot org (or dot ms) forums for advice. The specialized forums will be more helpful than CZcams comments. Even so, some general pointers: Get a full service history. Make sure the valves and cam belts have been adjusted/changed at the proper intervals (6,000 mi for valves and 12,000 mi or every two years for belts) As far as reliability, they're not going to be Japanese reliable, but should be dependable, provided they've been properly maintained.
+1 though the gsxr is a formidable bike you cant go wrong choosing one of the two i personally would rather pay for a ducati. only guys repping it for europe in a japanese dominated market
yey,, this is good stuff listen to that clutch and the best thing is it will get better with age, a classic sound from the only bike it could possibly be from :) sexxxaaayyyyy ,, check out my old air cooled two valver if i may post a vid responce, which sounds best guys ? what a question ha
hey guys im thinking about buying a 2005 999s 9000 miles going for 10,000. are these bike reliable? is there anything i have to watch out for? i know the maintenance is a bit more. I have a friend who has a 2011 streetfighter...he says that ducati's suck and that its not worth getting it because im gonna have all sorts of problems with the 2005 999s model. @redghost105 He means a Ducati 748 Biposto (two seat) which is commonly abbreviated to 748 BP.
Horsepower would be bhp (Brake Horsepower)

@TychoCelchu I know exactly which bike he was talking about, but i was just saying imagin having a bike with 748 horse power
@fergiy89 Yeah I kinda have the same. Its because of the dry clutch apparently. All the more reason to never let go of the throttle xD
