Even if Kane ends up leaving, it's been a treat to watch him in Detroit for as short a time as it was. I hadn't watched him play in much detail aside from highlights in his glory days, but seeing the way he controls the pace of the game when the puck is on his stick is fascinating.
I sure hope we can Keep Kane, I love his game, You hit the nail on the head, it IS a treat to watch him.
He better stay
For a Debbie downer season, you sure got lucky to see a healthy Kaner don the wing wheel sweater.
Nah screw that. If he leaves it’s a disappointment
I never realized how much he freezes defenders when the offensive zone has been setup, watching him just tic tac the puck back and forth while he scans for a passing or shooting lane and not a single defender challenges him is insane.
I had absolute chaos for my bracket, including Nashville going all the way so we could have a NASCAR cup final with Carolina 😂
😂😂😂😂😂 Anyone who picked Nashville to win is a fool
I pick my winners after the rounds are over and so far I'm 8 for 8 in round 1. I haven't decided on my 2nd round picks yet but I'll probably pick them in the next couple of weeks. Last year I was 15 for 15.
You pick your winners after the rounds end??? Pretty easy to go 8/8 lol
lol
@bough2923 ^guy who hasn't learned about Jokes yet
I went 7//8 in my bracket. Funny enough, as a bruins fan the only one I got wrong was them beating Toronto. I’m way off on the games though, I expected to see some of these series going a little deeper in the first round. My finals are still alive after Dallas pulled through.
Same. Only series I got wrong was the Stars/Knights series
@@JaredGoofball Exactly the same here. I expected more of vegas, but Dallas is a tough team too.
I had toronto and winnipeg moving on god damn it canada 😂
Please make a marner mock trade!!!! Love your content
Marner for PLD (please god take it).
With so many storylines throughout the league, it feels like this is a year of Heartbreak for so many teams (Sharks hitting an all-time low, Devils having a disappointing season, Red Wings barely missing the playoffs, the Leafs with another first round exit, the Golden Knights loading up and then losing to Dallas etc). If you had to rank them, which team do you think had the biggest heartbreaker of a year and why?
Thanks for answering my question, and I agree, imo the most entertaining series was the bruins vs leafs just because of the game 7 history.
One thing I noticed is Mackinnon, Makar and Rantanen are almost always on the ice, I think they were all averaging close to 20 - 25 minute a game. I feel like if any of them get injured, Colorado will fall apart because those guys drive the play and energy so much
6/8 with my bracket. I had Winnipeg and LA moving on. But the teams I have in the conference final and Stanley Cup final are still alive!
7/8 for me, only missed on the Jets. Really thought Helly was going to do better, but playoffs are a crazy animal.
Hey man what day do u post the thread to the community page?
I'm not sure when, but it would be nice to see a start, bench, cut video in the near future
My bracket has been 100% so far. Next round I have Dal, Van, Florida, NYR wins
Www love ur Chanel been watching for 4 years keep it up man ❤
8/8 on my bracket, 6/8 on the right amount of games! Only miss were Florida in 6 and Colorado in 7
Almost exactly the same as me! 8/8 and 5/8 for the amount of games. Had boston over the laffs in 6 games!
i went 8/8 but i only got 2 series right in the amount of games(kings/oilers and caps/rangers). i took dallas to win the cup and im not feeling too too bad about it but im also not feeling too too great about it.
Do you make mock first draft videos? I’m not sure if the whole first round is plausible. But a dive into why you think each team should make that specific pick. If it’s too much for the whole first round, then maybe just the first 10 or 15
7/8 in the first round for me. I had also said the Jets. My final of Stars versus the Hurricanes is still possible
I’m also 6 for 8 on my brackets. Got jets avs wrong and bruins leafs wrong. Though I said it’s either Toronto in 6 or Boston in 7. Unfortunately I chose leafs in 6.
I predicted dal in 7 and van in 6 fully right tho!
Kane has been my favorite player since I was a little kid. If he leaves Detroit I’d love to see him either go to Buffalo or back to chicago
Love your vids, been one of the best guys commenting on NHL! Keep it going.
DET is in a bit a situation like Carolina. Good pieces are there, but there`s no superstar power. Due to not tanking the last years under Holland and a bit a bad luck with the draft lottery.
The Copp contract will hurt, 5,6m for what is now a 3rd liner is just a bad contract.
Kane was so fun in a Red Wings uniform, but he might want to play elsewhere.
He might be hunting for another cup or go back to Chicago. Or Buffalo? Who knows, but he was great.
8/8 with correct games for Oilers and Bruins. Definitely sweated that Dallas series tho cuz I have them in the finals
i was very confused when you chose nashville over vancouver if i’m being honest but my bracket is looking pretty good atm 7/8 with winnipeg beating the avs but other than that my bracket is looking good
When I heard you mentioning the Petry and Chiarot trade, it brought me back to the Hughes trading Masterclass moments.
Are you planning to watch or cover the world championship? I know that it is not a popular tournament in North America but in Europe it is very popular. Btw love for Slovakia ❤️
Are we going to have to have a marchand hof conversation if they have a deep run 😂
6/8, I got Winnipeg and Nashville wrong too.
People under estimate avs depth i never understood that the the have are deep on the wing and the defense
I think the Red Wings might take Liam Greentree. Big forward who can score goals
Hell ya brother
Buffalo could use Kane.
@Siksdev The Rangers can afford Kane, but is Kane the player they need?
@Siksdev Kane had 1.2 goals per 60 this year at 5v5; that would be 2nd on on the Rangers behind only Panarin; no other Ranger was a goal or better per 60 at 5v5 this year. Most were much lower, even in your top 6. Kane played only 49 full games this season; go look up how many 5v5 goals he had compared to Zibanejad.
@@vipeholmskolan6052 Kane's 5v5 goals per 60 (1.2) this year was significantly better than every NY player but Panarin. a team of power play merchants could certainly use him, yes. he is not a power play specialist, quite the opposite. but i highly doubt he has any interest in NY.
@Siksdev You are displaying impressive ignorance of how good Kane was this year. Again, his goals per 60 at 5v5 would have been 2nd on NY and well ahead of everyone on NY but Panarin. No one else on NY was even close to his 5v5 goal scoring rate. He was the most efficient goal scorer and point producer on Detroit. No contender negotiating w him will be offering bottom 6. That isn't what you get him for. Also he was literally on your top line in a playoff series 1 year ago, on one hip and way less good than he is now and is likely to be next year. Also, Boston, Florida and Vegas all reportedly offered him top line/top 6 and top power play just this past offseason. You seem to have not kept up w pretty much anything that happened this year as far as him. My advice is to go check out his highlights and his numbers, then look at his analytics relative to his teammates, and analytics for Det w and wo him on the ice.
Went 8/8 in round 1 and even a few with the right amount of games. Round 2 aint looking so good though. Carolina down 0-2 and florida got caved by boston in game 1.
What is your favorite player on a team and why and why the team
Might sound crazy but if kane does a vet min contract and the avs have space would love to see him in an avs jersey.
What do you think needs to happen for the leafs to become a contender for the cup? Also love the vids keep it up 👍
My bracket's looking good 8/8 in winners, 4/8 in games. I also still like my bracket going forward
I won't be upset if Kane leaves. It was fun watching him in overtime and the PP.. that being said. The wings were 20-21-8 with him in the lineup and -5 on the season. His "slow down the play" style doesn't really translate on a high speed forchecking top six. The team was able to adjust to him toward the end of the season but I'd much rather use the cap space on a high skill player that doesn't always slow down the play.
Love the content and am always looking forward to hear your take on all things hockey 🙏
Both of Larkin's injuries occurred w Kane in the lineup - which tanked the team not just for the games Larkin was out but for several games after he returned each time. And in the second case the injury coincided w a tough road trip and then his comeback coincided w an even tougher road trip. So the team's overall record with and wo Kane is irrelevant in judging his impact on the team. I will tell you that after the all star break, if you remove Kane from the lineup, they do a full collapse immediately after the break. He carried them and led the team while literally just about the entire rest of the roster stopped scoring 5v5 and never started again. The team's high point as far as quality of play was the 6 game winning streak, which Kane keyed just about every win during and which ended w him on the top line as the key goal scorer.
As for "watching him in overtime and the PP", he was not an OT or power play specialist. Quite the opposite, he was one of their best 5v5 players the whole time, and their best 5v5 goal scorer. One of only 6 Wings to be a + at 5v5. If you add in the power play to that, he was pretty much the team's best player or a top 2 player. But if he'd never played on the power play at all he would still have been one of the team's best players. The notion he was a power play specialist is a weird one that I had never heard before the last year or two. Kane's never been a power play scorer. He's a 5v5 and 3v3 specialist. And at 5v3 he will give you automatic goals w his passing. He helps 5v4 and is an effective point guard of the unit, but it's not his specialty or anything.
The 'slow it down style' does not really exist outside of when the offense is set up in the o-zone. Which IS a power play thing, esp for Detroit. Otherwise if you watch Kane's goals and assists this year at even strength, you will notice there's no slowing anything down. It's fast.
Do you have a Discord? I'd love to join and talk hockey
All my picks are right so far in my bracket but after game one it looks like Carolina and Florida might ruin it 😩
I have everything right so far, I’m stylebender8888 in your league and I’m pretty sure I’m in 1st 🥇
OhNyquist, Marco Kasper is your guy
I can't see if the Canes winning a cup if they end up Matching against the Oilers (2006 rematch) McDavid and Draisaitl are now tied 2nd in all time points per game in the playoffs only being the great one with having 2 of the top rated defensive pairings in the league Ekholm/Bouchard & Kulak/Desharnais with 2 norris caliber dmen to add to that in Ekholm & Bouchard. And then you have Hymam scoring over a game per game so fair and Draisaitl with him scoring a goal per game. Oilers depth is also scary this season all around. Only saying this IF they were to match up in the finals big IF.
Will ullmark sign back to the sabers are will the bruins resign
There are no perfect GM, unless Nicolas Lidstrom becomes one, however Yzerman is mostly building from drafts with the draft lotto he ended up with has been great. Can’t wait to see these prospects go into their prime.
Feel like Dallas Colorado is the cup final lol
For next week who’s winning the Stamkos sweep stakes
6/8 in my bracket. Looked like I was gonna go 8/8 but the leafs and knights failed me. Although I am happier this way with Vegas losing.
Idk why everyone doubted colorado lol after game 1 I knew the jets were exposed and Georgiev just had to lock in to win somewhat easily
7/8 first round, fkn Winnipeg
Kane and perron are the two that yzerman should KEEP, all the other FA that have come over the last 2 seasons should be flipped for draft picks so we can get the real yzerplan in motion.
I went 6/8, got Nashville and I really didn't believe Boston was good. Tbf I still don't think they are, just Toronto was way worse than I expected
Vancouver Nashville was a snooze fest
For the most part, but the good moments where good!!
I don’t know why people are so confident that Kane is going to leave. He could have signed with a team like Florida but chose to sign with Detroit. Why leave now?
Detroit is still in the mix imo. I do think if it's "Detroit vs the field", take the field. But Det is in the mix. Trouble is the lineups and LAlonde and the team only having 1 real center and 3 real wingers. The end of the year and into any playoff appearance lineups would have had Kane being the guy left out, while the 3 other good forwards all got to play on the same line together. If anything is a dealbreaker, that would be it. At this point in his career he probably wants and needs (and deserves) to have good players to play with. He can no longer do what he so often was forced to do in Chicago even during the dynasty, which is be played w inferior linemates to 'elevate' them and "help the depth". He can still be a great and super productive player (as he showed) but he now requires help on his line.
Whatever team Marner goes to he’s going to win the Conn Smythe Trophy because it’s the most Maple Leafs thing to happen and Ilya Samsonov will be the starting goalie 😅
Kane is going to Toronto Maple Leafs
Honestly I hope he stays but if he leaves I don’t think it’ll be as big of a loss as everyone thinks. Maybe we get Stamkos or something.
Is it funnier to have the leafs blow it up and jettison their stars one by one or have them run it back year after year with the same core expecting something different
6/8 was wrong on vegas, tampa.
I'm happy that multiple people aren't letting go of the bruins but I really just hope we don't clean carolina because I want to see a game 7 between these teams badly and I think multiple people can agree
Carolina? What dude lol?
@@casewojo6186 dude the rangers only have good special teams and Carolina is better at 5 on 5, if they don't take many penalties the rangers won't win this matchup
The two most hated teams in the NHL are vegas for the success and Toronto for the media coverage and fanbase.
Car Bos
Van Dal
Car over Dal
He's retiring to coach the Blackhawks
Kane to La for
Spibdla
After the stars win the cup and pavs retires Kaner will come over to dallas and win the second consecutive
Wouldn't exactly call Nichushkin a debth player
Vegas would of 100% took Dallas. They had too many injuries coming in
I think Patrick Knae chose Red Wings as trial run lol, and they failed so he gonna leave. He prolly gonna chose his next team on how other teams fo in the playoffs
I’m sad boi if Kane leaves.
Kane should stay in Detroit! All this team needs is a world class center in his prime and some adds to in the defense. Then they are back as a top cup contender...
Patrick Kane to the Oilers plsss (we still have Duncan Keith employed in the Oilers system) a Kane-Draisaitl-Kane line would be a lot of fun to see
I have Boston win the cup
How many more years of Detroit missing the playoffs before we can admit the Yzerplan has failed?
Depressed leaf fan here for your amusement
he needs to go back to the 'hawks for one last time and get his jersey retired
Well we know Kane won't ever go back to the Blackhawks. He can't step foot in the city of Chicago without being shot, stabbed, or run over by a car. Maybe the Sabres could pick him up, he's never played for his hometown team before.
as a dynasty Hawks fan who now roots for whoever Kane plays for, i will tell you, i would be completely shocked if he ever played for the Blackhawks again at any point. from both sides' perspective. they forced him and Toews out. Hawks did a really good job of hiding the bad blood and what a nasty situation it actually was.
@@paulwt9783 If you're rooting for whoever Kane plays for then you were never a Blackhawks fan to begin with, you were a Kane fan.
Kane to boston next season 🎉🎉
Sens just made a worse coaching hire than the Sabres. Should Staios already be fired after its been announced he's hiring Travis Green a terrible coach that inspires nothing?
Ouch. I hadn’t heard that yet.
Kane. Is. Not. Coming. Back.
You don't tweet out "thanks for the memories" if you're planning on staying.
He's going to a contender. Or MAYBE Buffalo.
I agree. But I dont read anything into the tweets.
The final sentence in the tweet was something about the work not being done and LGRW. I'd call that mixed signals.
Also the thanks for the memories messages typically come after signing a new contract and it's a certainty the player isnt returning.
Weird timing on kanes part.
I see it as kane negotiating through the media. Making his desires known to yzerman and the other 31 GM's.
Like I said, I agree he isnt likely to return, but it has nothing to do with interview/social media comments
Why isn't he likely to return ? Out of the teams he was looking to join, people put Detroit at the bottom of the list as well and that's where he went.@@Mike-ix5sv
@@Mike-ix5svNobody thanks people for the memories if they intend to stick around and make more memories. That's the point of the thank you, that you won't be making more memories with them.
He is 100% not coming back and he 100% told us that with thr tweet.
BTW, the "more work" thing means he is trying to win another cup. The Wings are not going to be contenders while he's still in the league.
Marner is leaving. After all the playoff performances hes going to get offered something like 6x6, which he will not take. So hes going to get traded but either the leafs fuck him in the line up or they say hey your best bet for a pay day is to get traded n prove yourself worthy.
Whats crazy is Utah taking him n JT
He isn't going to get traded since he has no-trade-clause. So he isn't leaving.
To NY Rangers:
- Mitch Marner (25% retained)
- T.J. Brodie
- Mid-round draft pick in 2024
To Toronto:
- Adam Fox
- Kaapo Kakko
- 3rd round pick
For a deal or no deal idea
You really think Rangers are going to give up Adam Fox? Are you high? And why on earth NY rangers would take bum like TJ Brodie to their roster?
@@markiv2942to replace fox.
The trade isn’t the worst I’ve seen. There’s been some absolutely ridiculous mock trade offers
Ok, I don't like to comment much, but as a semi-leafs fan I don't think I'd even trade fox(as the rangers) for that entire leaf's package(expiring player(brodie), who cares mid pick). Fox is a #1D, and IMO a #1D is worth a fair bit more than a #1RW(Marner is that; even with people shitting on him right now).
TJ is nothing, Kaapo, is still a relatively young defensively responsible winger(I've been told) who may, if given the chance???? do better?(better than a non contract). Picks may be a wash, or favour Toronto when it should favour the Rangers.
I am not trying to shit on Marner. I feel many undervalue him with his playoff performances (he has been near a ppg in the playoffs(0.877ppg)).
I'll take the criticism, but maybe Toronto has too much of the same thing. Marner, very well could go off on another team, and still could on the Leafs.
TLDR; Fox 1D > Marner 1RW (I still like Marner and may be one of the few thinking keeping him is the best option(often lose trading the best player in the deal). A more balanced cap structure is the answer I'm leaning towards.
Teams who want to win a Cup would not take on an $11 million cap hit for a guy who becomes the invisible man in the playoffs. Marner is great at what he is, but playoff hockey is a different game and that game is not in him.
As a Red wings fan Steve Yzerman is beyond overrated. We are entering year 6.. If he wasn’t a hall of famer and icon for us he probably would have been gone by now. The rose colored glasses are real
I mean, after a 25 year playoff streak, you can’t expect a rebuild to happen overnight. 😂 Take it from a Sabres fan who was ten the last time they made playoffs lol.
Hang in there though, from an outsider’s perspective, the Yzerplan still seems pretty promising.
i'll never watch another detroit game as long as he's on the team. would be happy to see him gone
Yeesh..where do we begin?
First, let's be serious, the "Stevie Y as Gm era" STINKS.
Second, only jabronis doubted Kane.
Fact is, again, last season when he was acquired by the NYR he was only the best most consistent Ranger during his entire tenure, all with a BUM hip.
This season, a healthy Kane played just like a .....healthy Kane.
And NO , Kane is not going to Buffalo! 😂
Kane is , as always, a legitimate Superstar of the league and will of course, look to feature for a contender.
Detroit & Buffalo are NOT contenders
Detroit is a legitimate team next year
