I really loved Wilbur's storymaking and his character on DSMP, I liked his band, I liked his videos, and I liked his time on the qsmp (short as it was). I really liked that he spoke about his struggles with anxiety and mental illness. His youtube/stream persona is funny and creative, he is a brilliant musician --- all of those positives, AND YET he was horrendously cruel to Shubble (and possibly other exes, we don't know). It's like, how could someone who is so good at showing compassion and empathy in his public-facing life, who can make relatable music and characters people love that speak to them, totally lack ANY respect for his partner and treat her so badly?? Where was this effort when it came to working on his emotions and problems?? How the hell could he make bank from his career and band yet have the audacity to financially exploit his own girlfriend?! It's too bad he couldn't put the same effort into his real life relationships as he did into his online (fake) persona. He clearly knows what a good person looks like so why can't he just act like that when the cameras aren't rolling? I am so disgusted. Shubble didn't deserve this, nobody deserves this treatment. I am glad she's healing and moving on.

In all this history, I am in the side of Shellby, because I've been abused before, and I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS, and I'm completely shocked about what Wilbur did, and i understand her pain of talking about this. But, in my opinion, PAST IS PAST. Yes, he made a HUGE mistake and he is a motherfuck3r.
I tried to collect all the possible information about that case. I use to watch Wilbur a lot, and I still listen to his music and all of that, and it's horrible that someone so different, so incredible, it's capable to do things like that. I'M NOT DEFFENDING WILBUR, JUST SAYING MY OPINION. A lot of people did horrible things in the past, like Forever, Lajotinha and Wilbur ( in the case of Lajotinha he tweeted it out explanig ). Even in MY CASE, I HATE to remember my past, be cause i'm transgender and suffered a lot of bullying. AGAIN, it's just my opinion.

hope for a Carson situation where Wilbur eventually bounces back, but in all honesty I don't see that happening unfortunately, at least for the next few months

@@Lawful_Mango That's honestly not true, what he did is not something irreparable. With this I'm saying that he can improve and be a better person with the appropriate therapy. That doesn't mean Shelby has to hang out with him, forgive him, etc. And that doesn't mean Willbur deserves Shelby's forgiveness or anything. But even someone who was an abuser can improve in life, things are not so black and white to be realistic.

Look I know this is all crazy and everyone wants to know whats going on. But you should ( after knowing ) take a break from the drama, or even better the internet in total. I sure will take a break from the drama for a day, but just wrap your head around it. It’s very messy, but taking a break from the drama is better than watching the drama before your mental health and yourself in general.

Yeah, I took a break from all this cause it was messing with my head. I've come back now with a clear mind and I honestly find myself inbetween both sides.
People may hate me for supporting her abuser, but I think if Wilbur ACTUALLY tries he could change for the better. There has been examples of people on the internet redeming themselves (meantioned in other comments) and I'd honestly hate for this to be it for him. He was in a bad spot mentally when all this went down, so if we could just hear him out and if people were there to help him change for the better, I do think he could change.
Redeem himself? Not fully, but people doxing him and telling him to kill himself are missing the fact that Wilbur CAN redeem himself if he works past all this and gives an apology ratger than his POV. Shelby doesn't HAVE to forgive him or let him back into her life.

I want to support Wilbur going to therapy, and I do hope he finds it in himself to actually admit what he did was fucked up. I’m glad Shelby healed over time too. And for anyone reading this; I DONT SUPPORT WHAT WILBUR DID! But I’d rather he go to therapy and stop doing the abusive shit he was doing, then just continues acting the way he did, ya know? I still agree that what he did was 100% fucked up.
Also, I agree that his apology was TERRIBLE, but he did acknowledge he was a shit person and is going to therapy to improve.
I have a personality disorder that means I can get verbally abusive sometimes, but after a LONG amount of therapy and self reflection, I eventually found myself able to admit I was the problem. I went out of my way to better myself, and eventually apologised for my responses to people previously, even though they were (and still are of course) in their rights to not accept said apology.
I know this isn’t important, but what I mean is, he admitted he was an asshole. That’s a start. A terrible, terrible start, but a start nonetheless. All I can do is hope he matures enough to openly admit he was the problem, so he can grow and change for the better, instead of denying it all. But knowing our luck with CZcamsrs being freaks and bad ppl off camera, I doubt we’d be so lucky to see that improvement any time soon, if at all. Either way, Shelby is a string, incredible person. And I know it’s stupid, but I’m proud at her for talking out about this. It must have been hard, but she’s done incredible, and I hope she knows we all support her 100%!

The problem is that this isn’t even about cancelling him, he did a genuinely bad thing. He hurt people and this messes with people’s mental, emotional, and physical health. He’s absolutely in the wrong and should take responsibility and accountability, which he hasn’t done. So what if people stop talking to him? That’s what they should be doing. They should stay away from bad people who could affect them or the people around them. Why does it matter if he gets hurt? What Wilbur did was vile and disgusting. What happened to Shelby was terrible and she never deserved it. But I was wondering if it was still okay to listen to Wilbur’s music, don’t get me wrong, he still is terrible, but I basically grew up surrounded by his music, and I don’t know if it is okay to still listen to. Since listening to his music is basically supporting him in one way or another. I have been wondering if I should slowly bring myself to stop but I wanted other people’s opinions on the topic before hand. Shubble stated that she was abused by Wilbur Soot in their previous relationship, and Wilbur admitted this & made an apology. But the apology is self-centered & doesn’t really say sorry at all

n all this history, I am in the side of Shellby, because I've been abused before, and I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS, and I'm completely shocked about what Wilbur did, and i understand her pain of talking about this. But, in my opinion, PAST IS PAST. Yes, he made a HUGE mistake, but don't define who he is,and I tried to collect all the possible information about that case. I use to watch Wilbur a lot, and I still listen to his music and all of that, and it's horrible that someone so different, so incredible, it's capable to do things like that. His type of behavior affects people’s mental and physical health in the long term. Maybe I could see more of where you are coming from if his “apology” wasn’t absolute trash. He tried victimizing himself the whole time and didn’t even properly apologize. He didn’t even mention Shelby’s name? He probably hasn’t apologized to her personally. You say it doesn’t define who he is but I believe it does. It shows how capable he is of hurting people he claims he “cares about”. His actions were not at all right. He violated boundaries and made others uncomfortable. He should take accountability, which he hasn’t, and I don’t think he will any time soon

He is actively using manipulation to try and dissuade criticism, we've seen this with literally every major youtuber who has been outed for anything ever, and who has had enough of a platform where some people in his community will not have seen the initial accusation.
