- Leaning on a Lamppost is widely considered George Formby's signature tune, so in this tutorial I show you all the chords I play for this solo.
Ukulele Banjo: Customised Ludwig Wendall Hall De-Luxe (C. 1929)
Tuning: A-D-F#-B
Key: D

Very well executed. Not the easiest strumming patterns to pick up and learn so much respect for nailing them all so fluidly.
More of these 'how to' Formby solos would be fantastic! As an American Formby fan this is a great and easily accessible resource.
You know. I've been playing the guitar for 18 years both electric and acoustic.
I've had a ukulele for 2 years but only really started properly in the last 2-3 months or so.
I've been trying this song for ages and I can not get the end down. This video is an absolute god send. Thank you!!
So well done, so helpful with the split screen AND the chord diagram!! Hope you'll do "When I'm Cleaning Windows." As a Yank I'd never heard of that song or George Formby, both brilliant and such a joy in these times.
WOW, Awesome thanks. I'll be slowing that down so I can learn to copy your Tutorial
Brilliant Lewis. Can't wait to have a practice at your new Lampost solo tomorrow.
This is great Lewis and very helpful - more please! x
At last an easier way of learning thank you for posting Lewis.
Superb video Lewis !!! Such a natural gift , so very " Dickie Speake "!!!! thanks for sharing this
I forgot to tell you my name is Bruce. I am so glad you are in the UK. I wish I could strum like you. I sure wish I could see what you are doing with your right hand. I would love to see a video from you with the camera viewing under your right hand.
That's fantastic Lewis putting the chord boxes on to follow.
Wow!
Excellent tuition piece and great playing, thank you!
Fantastic 🙂🙂👍
Very good. Love the way you played it slower so people could watch the strumming and finguring. How about my favourite ... Licence. :)
waaaa wonderfull thank u :)
Brill 🤩 beginner question: is your Uke tuned GCEA? I'm about to take delivery of my first banjo ukulele. Fallen hook, line and sinker for George Formby's heroic abilities with this lovely instrument and kicking myself for not buying one sooner
Brilliantly presented tutorial Lewis. What tuning is it in please?
Hey Lewis - Just a profound one I've only just noticed on the engraving on your uke - On the armrest, there's what appears to be some musical notes - do they actually correspond to some kind of tune, by chance?
If not, just ignore me. 🤣 Not sure how I've never noticed until now.
I love your playing Lewis. I like the pics of chords - but could you also say what chords they are? Thanks.
Hi Again Lewis, can you please tell me how your tuning is so it sounds like George's? Mine is tuned G C E A - but I would so love to know how to tune mine as yours is PLEASE sir!
The most common tuning I uses is A - D - F# - B. Hope this helps
Hi great video, is this slowed down or not ,what song is it from thanks Lewis.
