I would be fine if they just move the place where the holes should be up to where they are

The accuracy problem from the holes does not matter because lego is already stylised. Unless we are trying to be accurate to lego star wars animations in games/movies/tv?

The holes on phase 2 look terrible.
However, i get why it did that, to maintain the visor accessories compatibility with the phase 1 and mando helmets.
Itd be nice if LEGO make new molds, but alas they did not.
Honestly im more upset about no waistcapes, no excuse why we cant have those

Lego should’ve really invested in making a brand new Phase 2 Clone helmet like what they did with the Stormtroopers. The helmet holes, while necessary to accommodate the 2008 helmet accessories, is very ugly imo. For now it’s a necessary evil.

I think the majority don't care. I personally really like them and think lego made the right choice with the mould, though their prints need to be better.

I never understood how the holes affect the print themselves.
Not that i'm disagreeibg with you... more so, what happened in lego's factories?

This is such an extremely easy problem to solve. 1 mold with holes. 1 mold with no holes. But LEGO is cheap and lazy. Enjoy the billions in profit I guess.

I'm honestly sick and tired of all this discourse around the helmet holes and I question just how many people outside of the youtubers even have these set with them or picked up this opinion on their own. It's been HELMET HOLES HELMET HOLES HELMET HOLES HELMET HOLES HELMET HOLES.
Maybe there is a better way Lego could have handled the molding, when it comes to the printing it should have been handled better. But the Helmets are just fine.
I will give credit to your criticisms though, you actually gave more statements than just HELMET HOLES but also talked about the shaping and sizing, and when you put it like that, I can start to understand! But whenever people talk about them it's just THE HOLES ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UGLYYYYYYYYY and it's like, what about the P1 Clone helmets or the Mandalorian helmets? What about the various lego headwear that have holes? Growing up with these random headwear that have holes in them is just normal to me. According to interviews from designers, the P2 Helmets were designed that way; mold size and hole positioning, was so that the accessories could properly fit. I honestly feel if the helmet was sleeker, more people would be even angrier if the visor piece suddenly didn't fit or we now how a new visor piece but it just made the 3rd market more complicated because now we have to shop between OG Visor and a New Visor with threat of the OG Visor becoming more expensive.
I believe in valid criticism, I believe there are room for improvements and lego must improve, but I feel Lego Star wars fans complain to much. It's like, 90% of review videos that involve clones, HELMET HOLES.
I almost feel we've been spoiled by custom Clone Troopers. Their molds and printings are amazing don't get me wrong. But it clicked in people's minds, hey, if these random people can do this on their own, why can't lego? They're the multi-billion company after all! Which is fair to think at first, but then they forget these clones that show up in cheap 10-20usd where 2, 3, maybe more show up are being compared to a custom where a single one can go between 30usd to 60usd.

      To answer the custom question
      I'll say three points
      1. One mold may not cater for all accessories
      2. Cac visors are brittle. If people play with them, they will break
      3. Original helmets like the arc and mando helmets shifted the outdents upwards
