- US President Donald Trump has cancelled a state visit to Denmark after the nation's prime minister said Greenland was not for sale to the US.
The president was scheduled to visit on 2 September, at the invitation of Denmark's Queen Margrethe II.
Then last week Mr Trump suggested the US was interested in buying Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory.
Danish PM Mette Frederiksen described the suggestion as "absurd" and said she hoped Mr Trump was not being serious.

I'm a Dane who is frustrated with all my tax money being spent on preparations for this visit, and then he cancels because he didn't get his way...I think our prime minister handled it like an adult, unlike the POTUS.
And the fact that Trump actually was _serious_ about buying Greenland, a sovereign nation, made me laugh several times. Trump is *Tragicomedy* ; a mix of tragedy and comedy. The tragedy aspect: he supports full roll-out of 5G in America, without considering the health aspects, and he wants to implement the Social Crediting System of China, where every person is monitored and targeted if critical of the government. I could name several other problems, but those 2 are the main ones in my humble opinion.
I agree with what you are saying. Though Greenland isn't a sovereign nation. It is a country that has home rule but it would only be a sovereign nation if it cut ties fully with Denmark.

Greenland is far better off having there own sovereign rule with Denmark as its closest sister country.

The Danish government doesn't control Greenland, they have their own laws besides the Danish laws, the only thing Denmark has up there is the Danish police, everything else are handed by the grrenlanders. Denmark is a part of EU but Greenland are not, so even though Greenland are Danish it as said function as an independent nation
