Saturday Morning TV Show Goofs

- In this video explore the many goofs and mistakes made by classic Saturday morning TV shows. Each show was fun to watch back in the 70's and early 80's, but each one also had it's share of goofs.
The Saturday morning goofs I found came from Shazam, The New Scooby Doo Movies, Wonderbug, the Super Friends, the 1982 Incredible Hulk cartoon series, and the Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm show which was a spin-off of the Flintstones.
On Scooby-Doo the most goofs came from the two team-up episodes he did with Batman and Robin. The Super Friends were loaded with them including mostly goofs involving missing clothing items. There was also a lot of comical missing persons scenes where the person in question was drawn in to the scene. Aquaman came up missing in one episode where he was standing right next to Superman. Black Vulcan lost his shirt sleeves from one scene to the next and Green Lantern lost his entire shirt.
Bruce Banner would magically get his shirt back after every transformation. Bamm-Bamm lost the super strength he had on the Flintstones for some unknown and never revealed reason. Wonderbug's Schlep car identity was spelled differently in many scenes on his tag. Captain Marvel had a lot of fun goofs involving special effects.
Saturday morning live action shows and cartoons were so much fun watching back in the day, but today it's fun looking back at some of the goofy mistakes that happened due to low budgets and very limited time to work on each episode. They will definitely be missed. Saturday morning has never been the same without all those wonderful cartoon characters.

The voice was everything on Saturday mornings in those days…”we’ll return after these messages’
I remember Wonderbug back in the '70s, it was my favorite show!! No CGI back then!
But very Cheap & Not so Great Special Effects.
😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
@davey There weren't so many emojis, either lol
I remember watching all of these shows when I was a kid.
I don't recall realizing any of the goofs back then.
THAT'S RIGHT...THEY WERE NO GOOFS!
I remember another goof in Shazam, it was in the opening credits. They kept the same footage of the original actor when he had been replaced by another actor and I remember showing my little brother that it was a different actor and he didn’t believe me.
In some of the aerial shots, Wonderbug was a toy, and the cast were dolls.
I always thought Carol Anne Seflinger was doll to begin with.
Agreed!
Excellent job ❤
Thank you! 😊
4:06 "Also, I have a gun!"
"That won't stop me!"
"With silver bullets!"
"That WILL stop me!"😂
Captain Marvel used his super-friction powers to dry them off. It was shown in another episode where he made a giant magnifying glass lens by rubbing sand really really fast.
I thought he was actually going to refer to that one, provided narration by Isis herself.
Damn! I totally remember "Monster Squad" now that I'm watching this! Must be 50 years at least since this show has ever come to mind!
Love these Saturday morning cartoons and their goofs
I didn't know Monster Squad was a thing until right now ... but I do recall an incredibly cheesy 80s cartoon with a similar premise called Drak Pack, which featured the kids of the same three monsters trying to make up for the misdeeds of their fathers (with Dracula himself as 'mission control').
Remember, don't forget to put pants on the Frady Cat characters! 😁
3:46 Whaddya know! Fred Grandy from The Love Boat!
Look how youthful Fred Grandy was!! 😸🤣
Danny Dark also did the Keebler Cookie commercials for a long time too.
Thanks again! You always do such great work. The time spent is noticed and appreciated!!!!
Thank you.
Back in the day we probably thought the effects looked amazing lol 🤣🤣🤣
I definitely did. 😀
Back when I was 4 years old I remember seeing certain scenes and I questioned why something was missing or wrong with what was in the footage. Like the toys or dolls that were being used to represent people that were now in a toy car and I said that doesn’t look like the real people or car that they were in. But I now laugh at the old shows and just have fun with the nostalgia of watching my old childhood favorites.
THEY WERE AMAZING EFFECTS!
Yo they were.Better than cgi
sir this show is 20 years before I was born , but I cannot stop laughing about the werewolf talking about the gun it won't stop me, the guy's a silver bullets that will stop me it's hilarious !😂
I remember well how my 6 year old refused to watch anything except Meet the Press after she spotted all these goofs.
Now I notice mistakes in these 70s cartoons, having seen them again after so many years! Looks to me as though the animators, at times, overlooked the finer details and messed up on continuity. So glad you pointed them out ; I appreciate your hard work and eagle eyes. 😆😸
Thanks
Great nostalgia trip, thanks 😊
A lot of the continuity errors were do to reuse of footage to save time/money. He-man did this a lot but since each character was animated separately in some shots (like walking/running, etc) there was less chance to see "missing" characters on the screen.
Love the Incredible Hulk on Saturday mornings during 1982-83 season. One problem I had with the series was that Betty Ross had short black hair ( she had long blonde hair in the comics at the time)
The aqua man goof was great
23:10…he’s…standing…right…next…to…you!!🤦♂️😂😂😂😂
Are used to watch the hog and I used to watch super friends. It was great being a kid.
That kid driving the car at 5:30 is Barry Miller from Saturday Night Fever.
I love in the old shazam show, "YOUNG CHILD" Billy batson turns from a spry 20 yr old into a tall strong 26 yr old jaha
Wonderbug was technically a live action version of Speed Buggy.
Your mentioned Bruce Banner clothes reappearing, I'm still trying to learn how Spiderman climbs walls with gloves and boots on when he needs flesh on the surface.
That's a good question about Spider-man. Some things we may never learn. 😀
Superfriends always had massive goofs' especially with Batman:
Space Knights of Camelon Batman is around the other Superfriends after the joust with Superman only to ride up on horseback moments later.
The Time Trap: The Legion of Doom trapped Batman and Robin in ancient Rome but Batman appears modern day with the others.
There was an episode with the Legion of Doom. They went back into time and eliminates Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern from existing. They make half of the super friends fight and you see the other ones in a cell. Green Lantern is shown although he doesn't exist and wasn't captured by the Legion of Doom.
I'm more worried about the goof of having a superhero called "Isis".
goof? Isis was an egyptian goddess long before the terrorist group appropriated the word
Billy Batson's guitar changes from electric to acoustic when it says "Shazam."
Monster Squad the movie sure was different.
True story, this episode of Batman and Scooby-Doo saved my high school class ring. My last class of the day was typing. I would always take my class ring off while I typed and put it back on at the end of class. On this particular day, my best friend had just gotten his driver's license and a car. At the end of the day, we rushed out to take advantage of this newfound freedom, and I forgot my class ring. Being super cool high schoolers, we were talking about all of the goofs in this episode. I was joking about the scene where Batman's glove was randomly missing, and he was wearing a ring. As I lifted my hand to mimic the scene, I realized my class ring was missing. We made a questionable U-turn, and I ran back to the typing class, where I found my class ring next to the typewriter I had been using. From that day on, we would joke about how Batman saved my class ring.
That's cool!😀
A lot of the cartoons is because they reuse stock footage rather than redraw because of budget restraints.
They didn't think kids would notice.
Remember how The Incredible Hulk cartoon showed the same stock footage during the transformation scenes? I saw that show so much I knew which ones were coming up by which episode was playing. In "The Origin of The Hulk", for example, it shows nearly the same sequence except it shows Banner's shoe explode during the second metamorphosis.
Sally Struthers ( All in the Family) voice Pebbles Flintstones in Pebbles & Bambam.
They should have used Speedbuggy
Shows were so corny amd Cheesey back then 😂😅
More than a bag of nacho cheese Bugles, I reckon. 😂
It was better than the crap they show today) good clean family entertainment ) movie moves the heart mind an soul) an shows right from wrong)
Having not seen Shazam! in over 40 years I expected the actor playing Billy Batson to look young. But he actually looks older than I remember
You missed one from Challenge of The Superfreinds. There's a scene in space where Green Lantern suddenly grows a THIRD Arm
Often, shows get unexpectedly axed before a finale, so maybe "The Dukes" was axed for the finale.
Wow I can't believe they even messed up the cartoons, I mean didn't anyone check the work first before putting on the air? Also with Shazam when we the boys were getting out of the car it looked like there was one still in the car, even after the 4th one showed up or was it something else? I thought that was the goof, lol!
I remember these shows, though some I watched long after they aired in reruns, since I was a tiny baby for some, lol! It's sad that kids today don't have any Saturday morning cartoons or shows to watch, unless maybe they have cable and can watch Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon! Some channel should show the reruns of all the old kids shows from the 1970s, we had the best shows back then, heck even some of the prime time shows were some of the most unusual and entertaining!
Yep, the one who stayed in the car was the adult who drove for the kids. They should have just had a cut to where it was already stopped, instead of the 4th kid just running to catch up from off-screen lol
Oh, well. Let's see.
Scooby Doo Meets Josie and the Pussycats. As Casey Kasem did both Shaggy and Alexander's voice (Alexander would have a bit more brittle way of speaking) when they had to give the chicken response upon meeting the Scooby gang, Alexander's voice changed to a high- pitched chirp.
Later, Shaggy, Scooby and Alexander were to scream as they run away, then run back, but you can undeniably hear Velma's voice among them.
Harlem Globetrotters met Scooby Doo three times. The two made-up characters from the Harlem Globetrotters, Dribbles the dog and Granny, their manager, never appeared in these crossovers, but in one far-off shot of the globetrotters' van in the Scooby movie, Granny is seen driving.
Very early Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, the gang is chasing after Rudy and as first Rudy runs by, then the rest of the gang, Rudy is among them.
Scooby Doo and Speed Buggy in The Weird Winds of Winona, Mark peculiarly seems to change race, becoming much darker, as if to establish him as latino?
6:12 There seems to be a third goof: the padding on the rear window seems to have been removed.
Coy and Vance probably effing killed themselves. Sorry, Funny or Die moment.
I thought I subscribed to you already?!
Bamm Bamm was still strong. It was just barely used. When he was going to propose to her and she thought he was dumping her she tries to take a Dino bus, and he grabs its tail stopping it
Family entertamint. At its finest
The cartoons in the 1960's were much much better - Jonny Quest, Space Angel, Astroboy, Gigantor, Speed Racer, Space Ghost, etc.
Also he was not standing same way when said Shazam as when transformed in reused transformation scene.
One of the thieves that stole the car in that episode of "SHAZAM" was played by Jackie Earl Hailey. I recognized his mug.
When the Captain Marvel movie of 2019 came out and it was a female star lead. That confused me. As a kid I thought Marvel was a man. It was the live action Shazam series that shows Marvel as a male. So that answers that.
well the reason batman's pants disappeared was he just got out of the mystery machine with velma.
A hornets nest WITH honey! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pants!
Ahh, the early years of Hanna-Barbera. The days of quantity over quality.
When Isis starts to fly, did anyone look up her dress??
In story ground shook not only because Captain Marvel shook stick but because she also used a spell which you just mentioned comparing to I dream of Jeannie and Bewitched.
For these shows that were more cheesy than a fondue pot, continuity was more of a suggestion than a requirement. 😂
There was a point where Batman’s insignia was yellow on black rather than black on yellow.
If the dukes spent more time working the farm in order to sell their product they wouldn't have to spend all their time trying to save it which keeps them from working the farm which by working the farm to sell their product etc... See where I'm going that's right in circles. 😂
True, very true! But it's probably not the best idea to make a kid's cartoon about moonshine lol 🍻
Still annoyed that DC has given up using the name Captain Marvel, despite the fact that their Captain was the original (though originally from Fawcett Comics) and created in 1939 and Marvel's Captain Marvel (the first of about 75 to date) didn't show up until 1968. Now DC refers to the superhero as Shazam, and I assume that the god-ish guy that created Captain Shazmarvel is, I guess, also Shazam. Which means that the character could not say his own name without changing to Billy Batson. This is all based on watching commercials for the movie. I have hated every superhero movie after Superman II.
Some of the visual goofs on the edge of the screen may not have been visible on broadcast due to CRT overscan that would cut off the edges.
What was that infamous Michael Jordon quote again?
😂❤
Look up other cartoons, Looney tunes, pink panther, Popeye classic toons are full of errors.
Even Disney afternoon toons have goofs as well.
Lol
Can you do some Goofs from The Monkees
I plan on researching on that one in the near future.
@tvcrazyman Thanks. I remember one episode they ran out of their apartment and then stood standing in front of the Stevens house
I wish you would do Batman tas
I'll have to see what I can find on that one.
budgetary restraints don't make them mistakes
You showed a goof that you didn't call out. Captain Marvel flying downward at a 45 degree angle...but the background is moving horizontally. So he can fly sideways while facing downward?
The guy from Wonderbug ended up doing several porn movies in the 80s
I was going to say the same thing, he died in 1994.
@@davidmitchell6873 He went from doing " G " Rated Shows to " X " Rated Flicks.
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Which guy in Wonder Bug?
@@NoirFan01 the black gentleman who appeared on Happy Days.
Who's the Egyptian babe?
Joanna Cameron, who maintained her looks, then suddenly passed away from 'natural causes a few years ago.
I loved Shazam/Isis and the first season of Superfriends as a kid. Hell, I still watch them. Own them all on DVD. Bostwick was the face of captain marvel the same way Lynda Carter will always be the face of Wonder Woman.
Had huge childhood crushes on Joanna Cameron and Lynda Carter. Still do. Lol
The six million dollar man was also a favorite show.
I remember meeting the actor that played the original Captain Marvel before he got replaced by a different actor back in 2019 and I remember asking him why the footage wasn’t changed to suit the new actor for the opening credits. But he didn’t have an answer.
@@willisjackson7029 they did change the opening. Watch the DVDs or even look it up on this platform. You can tell the difference between bostwick footage and John davey footage because Davey places his hands on his hips as the lightning changes billy into marvel. Bostwick maintains the same arm posture.
Also Jackie played a crappy Freddy Kruger
The black guy in wonderbug became a porno actor.
At Least He Didn't become a Drug Dealer .
yup Jack Baker. I remember my boy telling me that in the late 80's (of course, subsequent research was done i.e., watching some select VHS tapes)
@6:51, No comment about the body still in the backseat?
Here's one goof with shazam the actor they got to replace Jackson Bostwick was a actor with a out of shape with a stomach who looked liked he been drinking too many beers when they should had gotten a actor who's muscular. Lol 😆🤣
1:28 The Special Effects are so Cheap , so Lame.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i never liked that filmanation voice over guy. it was as stiff as the he man era animation.
You can tell that trump never watched Shazam and learned any of the lessons!
Your repeating too much
the only thing wrong, or 'fishy' is you watched CRAP back in the 80's. I only let my kids watch Bugs Bunny and other GOOd stuff....well drawn and fantastic music scores. (They did find their way to the Transformers, but made it up when I stumbbled upon Robotech!!!)
