As an artist It's never been easier to get your music out there today, but it's also never been harder to have longevity
Exactly, it's a lot easier to get known but it's also a lot harder now to stand out from the pack.
Or get attention.
100%. With much more media the attention on artists (as well as actors etc.) is more spread out than previously. Growing up in ‘90s UK Princess Diana and the Spice Girls dominated the news cycle (one or the other would feature on the front cover of tabloids), but that focus on a small number of individuals/groups couldn’t happen now as the general public have a lot more choice of what media to consume.
Also alot harder to make a living at it!
Or to make money.
It’s really nice seeing legends who can appreciate the new generation. Not everyone is capable to do that
He’s a class act
Boomers and millenials may fight over this. Leave Howard alone.
@Martin 1222 for christ’s sake do you hear yourself?
Some of the new generation are the future’s legends
Meanwhile Damon from Gorillaz: "TaYlOr DoEsnT WrItE hEr OwN SonGsSsss"
Bruce is brilliant on so many levels. And it’s cool to see him acknowledge Taylor. Who’s also an incredible writer. I saw her last arena tour and was blown away by her performance. The stage was insane.
@Martin 1222 promiscuous heretic 🤣🤣🤣 are you ok bud?
@Martin 1222 🤣🤣🤣
@Martin 1222 incel feels
@Martin 1222 Promiscuous? That’s her own business, but heretic? Seriously? The Spanish Inquisition called.
I'm 42 and I'm going to see Taylor Swift for the first time
It's so nice to hear a hero talk positively about another great artist. We need more of that.
100%..
what i LOVE is picturing tay and jack watching this and losing their minds while bruce casually discusses how amazing they are - which is why i love them because they are both so enthusiastic and down to earth people
So glad to see that his feet aren't stuck in the cement of 1975 and that he is embracing what's going on today while still making the music he loves and has a talent for.
Spot on about Taylor's new album. A good musician is a good musician, regardless of genre.
Predictable music isn't good music.
@@Fearzero we knew you were going to say that. A lot of traditional Blues musicians will disagree.
There’s a reason why she’s always on top of the charts. Girl is a brilliant writer.
@@Fearzero Taylor's music isn't predictable. She started out with country pop/rock, then just pop, then alternative and now back to pop but every album is different.
@@Fearzero Time and the record books will tell just how good Taylor Swift really is. My ears have not let me down yet and I am a fan from Swing to Be-Bop to Coltrane to Rock to Prog Rock to Country to Punk to Grunge to Funk to R&B to Fusion to Metal to Rap to Hip-Hop to Bach to Schoenberg... She is the real deal.
Not that she needs needs any validation , but it's so great that an Icon the stature of Bruce has nice things to say about Taylor and her work! She works hard and is a testament to her that one of the greats considers her good.
this is not the first time Springsteen has praised Taylor. Paul McCartney has too, so has Jon Bon Jovi.
I listen to a lot of Bruce Springsteen and I've recently got back into listening to Taylor Swift. I think it is interesting how they both, but very differently, somehow perfectly capture the angst and simultaneous optimism of the human condition.
wow, spot on!
Bruce writes less revenge-songs, but that's the only difference.
@@thejason347 So true!
“And you knowI love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whisky” Taylor is probably overjoyed to hear this haha
Love seeing a TRUE rock star, a living legend, be the most grounded person imaginable. Just wow. Nicely done, gentlemen.
❤ Bruce Springsteen !
I love and admire this man so much for his talent and artistic integrity. He sang with a purpose.
The Boss is 73 and looks like that! Amazing. God bless.
Also love how supportive he is of Jack Antanoff, their friendship is so wholesome
Bruce has a very humble and wise perspective on his monumental place in rock history; despite his own enormous talents he doesn't hesitate to admit he benefited from an industry golden age whilst fully endorsing and empathising with new generations. He's an excellent example of how a rock star should age gracefully
73 years old ? He looks 60. That's Amazing.
Easy living with tons of dough will do that to you...
@@jdemarco tons of dough, no doubt, but lots of money doesn’t mean easy living at all. He’s extremely blessed and very lucky to have become rich doing something he loves. But he’s had (and will continue to fight) severe bouts with clinical depression. That sh!t doesn’t care how much money you have.
Springsteen fan since 77 and this is my take on it : the people who are still into music have artists like Swift, Halsey and Lana Del Ray - the rest can obsess over social media and image. History shows us which group of artists will still be making music 30 years from now.
Those are three of my favorite artists!
I love Bruce music too and so Taylor ,even im soon 64 yrs old
Hearing The Boss saying this melt my heart! I knew he was a good person, but to see him talking about other genres/artists in a good way is very good, I'm so happy.
Man this almost brought a tear to my eye. Greatness recognizing greatness.
Give me a break
Full of s...
@@thedude4672 ??
Refreshing to hear an elder icon not be bitter, like Madonna, and put down the younger artists.
@Martin 1222 heretic?
It is nice to see. I am of the Bruce generation somewhat age wise. But I can certainly appreciate how talented Taylor is. Same with Dua Lipa and Halsey.
@@oregonziggy2391 in my next life I hope to come back as the boss, or, at least, the assistant manager.
@Martin 1222 claiming to be Christian is not an accomplishment at all lmao ... Do u know how many millions of lives were lost in the name of religion, especially Christianity? 💀💀
@Martin 1222 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well now I need a Bruce and Taylor collab!
@Todor nothing wrong with Swift: she's no Springsteen though. Nobody is
How very true
maybe they could do a collaboration together when Taylor’s doing her doing her tour,
and have Taylor sing with Bruce and the E street band
@Todor incel
Damn, I hope I look that good at 73!
I really love Bruce's positivity in this
Me too ❣️
Only real musicians would understand Taylor's success. I loved the album too.
she’s an icon 🥹
So is he!
@José Luís Bergantiños López yep!
@@rainbowsandloveyup. Game recognizes game
Bruce Springsteen saying he knows Jack Antonoff well is awesome, 'Chinatown' has got to be one of the best songs ever recorded
He’s a legend and he’s so nice to this generation. Love that 💖
The boss, what a guy! Love his cover of The Commodores 'Nightshift'...long may he continue.
It's cool to see amazing artists saying good thing about each other in a world that sometimes seems so competitive and arguably hostile.
The Boss and McCartney both have this same perspective of embracing good, new things. Words and music will always sound different, evolve, slam the brakes, hit the gas, experiment, become more complicated, and become more simplified. That's the beauty of expression. Bruce knows that. Curmudgeons only slow their own development and minimize their own life experiences.
What does Bruce Springsteen think of Baba Booey's vinyl collection?
And what does he think of Lil Baby's music?
Fla fla flanky!!!! 😬🥸
Legendary attitude
Bruce listening to Taylor Swift full volume while driving, now i would have loved to have seen that. 😂
There's twice as many people in the world compared to when Bruce was just starting. So there's huge Music making going on but it's not just funneled into radio now, it's fractured over many different mediums
Another truly epic interview with a true rock icon.
Epic? My goodness I wish people would buy a dictionary and learn what the most overused word in the English language actually means.
Billy Joel compared Taylor Swift to the Beatles. Many misunderstood what he was trying to say. Taylor Swift is a great artist among many artist in our days, just like the Beatles were the best artists among others in their days. I appreciate legends giving credit to young talented artists.
God bless music Icon Bruce Springsteen for recognizing & acknowledging Taylor's mastery & expertise with singing, songwriting & navigating business. At a time that can only be described as talentless mediocrity of so many performers in the music industry, Taylor Swift gives hope that there's still value and a future for poetic substance and harmonic melody.
🤣🤣🤣
J am so happy to see you when you speak i. You are a great artist. A hug to you❤
He is looking more handsome that ever, I am swooning over here a little bit :)
He's still a legend. So nice how he recognize the talent and not only see a product.
Bruce = Legend, a true GOAT! Well done Howard and crew.
Howard Stern knows how to do an interview. Bruce Springsteen - legend.
LOVE YOU BRUCE, YOU ARE THE MAN
♫ You know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey ♫
"And you know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey “
he looks so good
How diplomatic. Thanks Boss
Bruce just seems 100% lovely.
A Springsteen and Swift record could be a great collaboration.
One of my favourites complimenting one of my other favourites, what I like to see.
Great conversation.
Everything changes. Nothing stays the same. I love most music. I went to see Judas Priest a couple nights ago. Great band. Fun music. I also enjoy Bruce and Taylor.
I just read that KK Downing, Glenn Tipton, and Les Binks are going to play at JP's RRHOF induction this week
@@christheghostwriter Cool. That’s awesome 😊
Bruce looks goodT at 73 😍
Bruce still cool as ever👍
Bruce is the Larry Bird of Rock. Blue collar and appreciative of the younger generations following behind
Always gracious and positive despite the dark
Stern’s chill demeanor these days is nice
God, he looks amazing. And natural.
This is SUCH an honor.
I know this made Andrea SO proud.
Bruce looking great! The music serves him well.
It was a golden age alright. I was blessed to grow up during that time and hear great music, see awesome concerts.
Well spoken.
Rock music has changed tremendously but as long as someone whose into playing the guitar, forming a band, then it’s always going to be here.
It’s Fucking Awsome💙Howard Is In Phenomenal Shape💗#TheMessiah
Things have changed with music--yes--on the one hand--much tougher starting out in the business. Artists and bands used to tour to support an album. Now, as Americana singer/songwriter James McMurtry says, artists and bands put out albums to support touring.
Is Howard ever going to be back in studio?
Bruce has a great take on music today and the state of rock'n'roll.
Bruce looks in great shape
Love how he supports her and her music.
Oh well Bruce is so nice!!!
Jack is stoked at hearing this i just know it
I don’t think rock is gone. Music hasn’t been a priority in school. Rock to me is a young teen’s anthem. Hard to have rock music without a lot of kids learning to play.
Have to give Howard credit, Howard is a great interviewer. Great to see Bruce on the show.
He still look good
Voice of an angel
He will always be the Boss!
Bruce, it's admirable to hand over the gauntlet to those we spent years trying to achieve a younger, more interpretive version of ourselves.
i hope Taylor saw this if so ,too i know she's over the moon ! my mom & me love the BOSS 😎 too
All class
YESS!!
Typical question by Howard where he leads the guest trying to get them to complain, but they don't, and say something encouraging instead. Good on you Bruce!
Mi piace sentirti cantare ancora
A Golden Age indeed. I miss those days, the days before Social Media.
50s-80s, golden era of music and it's industry
Springsteen is the goat because he is not a hater, he just appreciates quality performers and quality music
Pure class.
WOW 💜
He looks so good!
Bruce a true great human being. Shoo Trumper trolls!
class act
exactly
Great interview. Hard to believe Bruce is in his 70’s.
I’d love to see Taylor and Bruce do a collab together
It’d be brilliant
The Boss looks great!!!
One of the things I absolutely love about technology. I can listen to any music I want. I can discard any artist as well. Last time I heard a peep from Taylor... 2014, maybe 2015.
The Boss of all Bosses
Real recognizes real
Much easier to get noticed with social media apps and to sell directly to fans
Well things have changed and new styles have arrived but it also shows that people are very basic when it comes to entertainment and can listen too or watch fuzz on a TV and be fine with it lol rock creates a passage way to the soul that most other music can't do.
