Only you would be under the car smiling about it by the time Cleet gets back to the track 😂 Every race team needs a Brent for the tough moments in life!
Hell of a Bro, Man. Knocking it out, taking care of business in a flash.
Couple of suggestions:
- solid axle cars pull to the right because the driveshaft torque causes the weight carried by the rear tires to shift to the left tire. This causes the right tire to have less grip so the car pulls to the right.
- methods to compensate include increasing the right rear corner weight, by shifting some weight to the right side of the car and increasing the right rear coilover preload (and left front slightly). For your power level you could try around 50 lbs extra on the right rear scale (vs left rear) and tweak from there.
- note once the front end is fully off the ground this weight shift goes away...
- keep in mind nothing is "free". Increasing anti-squat will improve grip in the ~0.1 foot to ~ ~5 foot range (depending on rear extension damping) but will hurt grip in the ~5 foot to ~60 foot range. If you can crank up the engine power during the first ~5 feet enough, lots of anti-squat can work well but if you go too far it will hurt the remainder of your 60 foot.
- allowing the front end to extend more improves weight transfer and grip while the front end is up but note it takes time and distance for the shocks to extend. Right off the line the anti-squat has more impact because the front shocks haven't extended yet and rearward weight transfer has not occurred yet.
- ultimately you want the front end almost off the ground during the entire period you are traction limited.
- Mullet is "theoretically" capable of running around a ~6.8 second ¼ mile so fully dialed on a sticky track you might get into the 6's.
Good luck.

Absolute legend
I hope the right fella sees this. In this sea of redundant comments, this one may actually be useful. I hope my additional 'like' will bump it.
A few random things I forgot to include:
- the distance numbers above are just to give an idea where in a run anti-squat vs chassis weight transfer apply. Aero comes in at higher speeds (~80+ mph) and impacts both drag and downforce (downforce doesn't really help unless your burning rubber at 80+).
- anti-squat works by geometrically coupling axle-wrap to suspension height. If you put a camera down there you'll see the axle housing rotating as the power comes on. High levels of anti-squat can generate excessive pinion angle and cause u-joints to fail. Depending on setup you sometimes want the pinion pointed slightly downwards nominally.
- how quickly anti-squat and chassis weight transfer apply are significantly impacted by shock extension (rebound) damping. The less damping, the sooner you can apply more power but at the same time the less stable the car is. Rear tire pressure also impacts how quickly anti-squat helps (lower tire pressure delays the impact of anti-squat). Pretty much everything you can tweak impacts everything else to some extent.
- you should consider front shock extension limit and shock damping as separate tuning parameters. You typically want extension to occur as quickly as possible without destabilizing the car (including causing wheelies) and want to use front extension limit to fine tune total quasi-static (dynamic) weight transfer.
- moving weight to the rear is generally better than using the suspension for weight transfer because the suspension takes time to extend, compress, etc.
- it is a good idea to keep a log book to note every tuning change you make and what the impact was. Ideally you should do this electronically and include data logs from the car.
- ideally you should only make 1 change at a time, although changing more than 1 thing is ok if you already have data for everything but 1 change. Eg changing several things back to a known configuration combined with 1 new tweak.
- the pull to the right that solid axle cars can experience is significantly impacted by rear end gear ratio. For example we had an 85 Pontiac Grand Prix daily driver that had a 2.29:1 rear end that often pulled right suddenly when accelerating at the limit of traction (after dropping in a 454). With a 3.73:1 gear and 4L80 upgrade, the pull was pretty much was gone, even though it accelerated much harder.
It would definitely be good if Kevin, Garrett, or someone in their circle saw this. Even if one of these changes suggested helps break into the 6's it'd be awesome.
There is noone out there that cannot convince me that Brent is not the one person we all aspire to have around us. Freaking always there with the positive go get attitude and will do anything and everything in his power to help anyone!

That's Supra playing games baby. Did that fake burnout so Mullet's tires would cool down a bit because they've seen him spinning a bit in qualifying. Touche.

Kind of a cheap move tbh

so true
Amen brotha.
Hard to do effectively. Every track is different mainly track temp and grip. You can test test test and test some more at your local track, then travel somewhere and the tune is way off. Just part of drag racing
@@PisgahGravelProject but this IS their local track!

New shirt idea?
Mullet and Leroy need a lot of testing. Just like Ruby had. That's why she's a 7.6 car right off the trailer. Mullet is easily a low 7s car without pushing a few barriers. You just need sufficient R&D to get the leave right and knock those 60ft times down.
I'd be glued to the screen watching them two reach new heights
I been waiting for them to bite the bullet and go front tranny and solid axel on Leroy. Also drop the 6 speed for a 4 speed like all the low 7 and high 6 guys.
@@bbdl7042 He needs it badly. Leroy has basically been the same since his first 7 second pass 3 years ago. I guess with all the Freedom Factory stuff that's been going on he just doesn't have the time.
But if he wants to be serious he has to dedicate some time to his Drag Cars. It's the main reason why I fell in love with the channel
Exactly dude I'm thinking like Leroy.... Dang u see how the car just jolt's when he leaves???
Me. I'm thinking he needs something to put some pressure on the drivetrain/tires... Sure it needs to dig, not shock and jostle the hell out of the tires lol.
Shoots weight back Rear end... Milliseconds later, rear unloads and.... There u go spin City lol
My opinions on mullet I think he needs to stay away from super prepped track's... For 1.
2 hell they talk about moving some stuff in the rear of it water fuel.... U get it/w pressure adjust, and stiffening the front... Well that's what I would stab at hell I wished he would say guys leave a suggestion and if it's logically sane reasonable LOL we may try it... It could help

I love how the supra ran mullet down on tire temp with that restage burnout, then ran you out staging (heard that throttle drop for the boost creep) and Mullet still pulled on it to 1/100 of a second.
dude was doing the most with that race i woulda been calling him out
Baltic Supra was having issues building up boost when he was staging You can see that when he did the burnout the first time he had reverse back to the burnout box because his boost wasn't coming in. It wasn't intentional. It's a part of drag racing.
Yeah, same with the last guy last year. I definitely don’t have the same maturity as cleetus, I would’ve put that guy on blast.

That was convenient that Brent was still in the trailer since race week.
Ty is like "Alright its time to fix mullet. I've watched you all mess this up long enough, step aside.." 😆
lol right. dude turns a wrench, 2 passes later they get a PB
Got better but personally think they ate on wrong path. Needed right side adjustments for traction loss on right wheel. But both wheels keep spinning no matter. Both cars spinning. Cletus tire carr hasn't been the greatest and often a tore works at 1 track won't work well at the next. Time for different tire maybe. That and cletus burnouts have aways been kind if weak.
Man, Brent really is the ultimate role model and I would love to have him as a friend of mine. With how Garrett broke his transmission and he's there to help him fix it and get him back out racing is crazy. Not many people would drop what they're doing or abandon time in their day to fix your race car. especially considering the man gets paid to do the same thing but mainly Honda/boosted 4 cylinders. Goes to show, it's not about what you know it's who you know.
I would argue that it's not always who you know. Been screwed over many times by people I wish I never met. So, gotta find that middle ground.
