    Thank you for this video. I visit a lot of the places you showed in the summer of 2022 with a photography trip. Very nice. Greetings from the Netherlands.

    Really nice video. I too love the Myvatn area and when I return, in addition to spending more time in Siglufjordur, I want to see more of Myvatn. We camped at the lake on our first visit but didn’t allocate enough time to see everything we wanted to. The Myvatn Nature Baths are, arguably, my favorite of all the geothermal pools I’ve visited, and the only one I’ve visited twice. Thank you for this Jan. Very well done.

      Thanks Steve! Yeah it honestly all took longer than I expected, there's a lot to see for a single area. But in my opinion it's better to take more time, like you did and visit fewer places and truly enjoy them and visit the rest on the next trip...rather then just rushing only to tick them of the list

    Thank you for these videos! We're currently on our second visit to Iceland and thinking we'll stay in Akureyri next time to focus on the north. We cannot get enough of your amazing country! Today, while walking in Reykjavik, my wife said "I'm trying to find any reason not to try to move here... and I'm just not finding one!" 😁

      Glad you like the videos Chris and happy to hear you're enjoying your time here! Haha trust me, you're not alone, I've heard that same story way too many times. It always starts with one or two visits and before you realise you're moving here 😅 But it is a great place to call home that's for sure :) Maybe see you next time you're in the North!

    This definitely on my list of places to visit in the north 😊

      I can definitely recommend it! And there's so much more to see here in the North, but I will save that for the future video :)

    Thank you Jan! I am visting Iceland for a second time at the end of August and will be in Akureyri for 2 nights. Looks to me like a visit to Myvatn should be added to my list.

      You should, it's worth the drive! And you will also find Goðafoss waterfall on your way, definitely stop there, too :)

    Great video and commentary. Do you have any recommendations for where to camp in this area?

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před měsícem +1

      Thank you Doug! There's a camping ground behind Reykjahlíð village or there's also a camping ground next to Daddi's Pizza - I always go eat there, good stuff! Just note that the midges are very annoying there especially when camping so either make sure to get the mosquito net or think about camping somewhere a little further - for example Húsavík

    Hi Jan, Is that the same Geo-Shower that Gylfi showed us a few days ago?
    He did not exactly give the coordinates but left a link for the (Blog) of the German visitor that was under the shower at the time.
    It is a very beautiful location.

      Hey Jeremy! It's a beautiful place indeed.I'm not sure I've seen that video, but most likely yes, at least I don't know of any other shower like this one here. Anyways, after a long day of traveling and a night in the van, this was an absolute joy haha!

    My favourite was the Hverir Geothermals and believe it or not I like the sulphur smell of the steam. Can you drink the water (as a sort of spa therapy)?

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před měsícem +1

      To be honest I normally don't stop there because of how crowded it can be, but being there basically alone was a very surreal experience. It's a beautiful place.
      Fun story : that couple the I mentioned I saw there was actually a woman with a child. When I was leaving they were still walking around but there was not a single car on the parking lot. Note that there is no hotel or anything for miles away either. That combined with the mysterious vibes of the place gave me some chills to say at least haha.
      Not sure about the water tbh, it might be too acidic

    I will be there early September, for our first trip - driving the ring road! Very excited!
    Where exactly is the Isbud ice cream shop? I can't find it on google maps. We'll be sleeping one night at Sel Hotel Myvatn; is it near there?

      Excited for you, you will love it! And I've got some good news for you -the ice cream shop is actually right next to the Sel Hotel 😀 here's the link : maps.app.goo.gl/wxvnr3tYB2ufgWda7
