    I can't decide whether to envy you or pity you. These old growth forests are some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen. But aside from their obvious esthetic beauty, there is an overwhelming sense of tranquility, time and story in every shot. Honestly seems a perfect fit for you. On the other hand the complexity of every composition would overwhelm a lesser photographer. (Myself included). So, thank you for these. You are a little island of calm and sanity in this often insane time we live in.

    Very nice detailed analysis of your composition strategies, Adam. Many vloggers may be good technically, but few are approaching photography as a true art from as you are. Wow, the GFX's raw files bring landscapes to entirely new level.....I'm afraid to try one knowing that I could never go back to full frame. Would love to hear an analysis of the Rogeti geared head in a future video.

    O my, the rain wetness and the soft clouded reflected light just make these wonderful shots. So saturated, and the textures are just incredible. The dodge and burn you did on that first capture was wonderful, really proved your pre-vision was spot on. Great conditions, great compositions, another winner in the can, lol. Viewing Karen from the back is a little disappointing, but then having her out w/you at all is really a warm touch.

    Hello Karen... welcome to CZcams... wow... that RAW file at 10:50 was pretty dang nice right out of camera, and then I heard your comment on FUJI... and that also applies to the X-T versions too... Fuji film simulations are a HUGE bonus to their systems... hadn't noticed the leaning tree until you mentioned it... and really like your adjustment... small details make big differences... your images are sooooo amazing, and some might be the 100 megapixel, but I know the most is about the art... GLAD you eventually found Karen... Thank You

    One of the things I really like about your videos is that you shoot in very similar forests that I have available to me. The forests of the Olympic Mountains and Cascades in Washington State, USA, have very dense foliage like the forests on Vancouver Island. Learning how to frame and what to look for in dense forests is very helpful.

    • @yuvtube1
      @yuvtube1 Před 3 lety

      What is the use of owning a medium format sensor if you are not going to use its full potential? If you are going to get a cropped image, it's better to stick with a cheaper APS-C sensor camera.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  Před 3 lety +1

      A number of reasons.First off and probably the biggest reason not to is angle of view. A cropped image from a wide angle will not have the same angle of view as say a longer focal length. The relationship between background and foreground changes with the various focal lengths.

    What is the best way to save a forest? Is it placing your neck between the trunk of a tree, and the blade of a chainsaw? Dunno. That strategy didn't work for Tank Man in Tiananmen Square. However, a single photo can change the world. Napalm girl shaped public opinion and hastened the end of the Vietnam War. The photo of 3-year-old Alan Kurdi washed up on a beach prompted an international response to handling refugees from Syria. Is the trick to shape public opinion to value our forests such that it becomes ethically, socially, and politically untenable to wipe out a forest? Dunno again. What I can say is no other photographer on CZcams has touched me like Adam Gibbs. Maybe it's his work, or someone else's that can do this.
