I belive so far it's about status difference. As soon as they got a proposal from a, as shown, a successful businessman, her parents, without going for knowing their family, accepted it and tried to compell her to accept it too. If it was not the compulsion from parents( her mom) she would've taken time to decide.
In coming episodes though the drama is taking a turn as to how you described the manipulative of the her inlaws.

This story is just the same as MANJALI... 2012 drama written by Khalil ur Rehman. Mikaal played the character of a rich ...alcoholic... play boy ...saw a girl and she refused to marry him bcos she knew all about him.He tricked her with a few emotional lines and showed his true colors right from the very same day he got married....later revealed that those emotional lines were a TRAP.. Anyway... finally he was in jail for the murder of one of his girlfriends who became pregnant .His parents advised him to divorce his wife so that she could move on and she later married someone else. The heroine was Mehwish Hayat.

As a society we need to teach our college students red flags, especially covert and subtle traits of toxic relationships. They fly under the radar and so hard to spot. Young adults need to know that these behavioral traits are real and detrimental to.our emotional ,mental and physical health. Often we ignore them in the garb of forgiveness is divine. True, but that doesn't mean that we forget and forgive the act and start living together. Forgive the sinner,not necessarily the sin. Live in peace in healthy relationships where there are boundaries and mutual respect.
