Thornley - So Far So Good
I feel a little bit left of center
but then again we've all been there before
Every time I see a lost cause coming
    it's nothing less, nothing more
Every time I get lost in paradise
I find a way to screw it up somehow
It's not the way it's supposed to be
    but it'll do for now
    When you're right, you're right
Everything else in my life just might be wrong
    You're wrong all the time
So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking
Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
    So far so good
I better find a way to cross my fingers
half the luck'll get me twice as far
I'm sick and tired of coming up for air
    it shouldn't be this hard
Every little bit'll help I wonder
if it's enough or did I cross the line
The kitchen counter is a bad reminder of a better time
    When you're right, you're right
Everything else in my life just might be wrong
    You're wrong all the time
So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking
Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
    So far so good
    When you're right
Everything else you messed up just might be wrong
    You're wrong all the time
So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking
Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
    So far so good

I was the Music Dir. of a great Active Rock radio station in the Midwest when Big Wreck came out and still was when Ian released this solo album. (In fact, I will always remember Dave Loncao, head of Promotion for Roadrunner Records, playing the Thornley album for me several weeks before the final mix was done to get my opinion on it.) Still, years later, I consider Big Wreck to be the biggest "heartbreak" of my entire career as an MD. I can't even explain how much I LOVED this band...how much I believed in their songs...how I was even more blown away after seeing the band live! I would've bet the farm that Big Wreck was going to be f%&king HUGE!!! I loved The Oaf (first single) so much (and all the follow up singles)...I think I worked this record to my other rock radio compatriots harder than Atlantic Records did. (OK...guess that's saying much, but that's another story.) And I did the same when the Thornley album came out...talked it up to my listeners & to my rock radio MD & PD pals. I remember thinking, "ok...so the Big Wreck album didn't hit the way I was sure it was...maybe rock music lovers will finally get it when they hear THIS."
I got to be part of the start of pretty many bands that went on to be huge - Godsmack, Nickelback, Shinedown, etc. - and I STILL think the music Ian Thornley writes & sings is better than all those bands put together. But...that's just my opinion.

I read somewhere that a high percentage of people don't even conceptually interpret a meaning to the music they listen to. Crazy, right, I didn't get the facts on the research, but it was found as such. What does that mean? It means they don't even care about a meaning to their song, or do not come to a conclusion of one. Wtf? No wonder so many people listen to pop music, nowadays it is just about getting high and shaking ass
