I am re-learning Sketchup again after a long. very long break like 15 years. I am having some difficulties with Sketchup 2022 to Layout 2022. I have sent to Layout and can not get Layout 2022 to allow more than one page. So thanks for the video. As a Woodworker and a small cabinet shop I want to use Sketchup with CabWriter for my designs and to be about to use Layout for my shop drawings and to give customer/myself a render of the cabinets. As of the moment I am only doing my own house and the wife wants to see everything before hand. Window covering, shutters, case work, cabinets, doors, base boards picture frames built ins.
To answer you question about color I render all my woodworking drawings with Wood texture for the wood That I will be actually using. I gives me the real world view and allows me to decide if I want to go with a different species of wood. As for shop drawing I do print as I have no internet services in my shop and I do line or wire render when printing that way I see what needs a dado, rabbit tenon, miter, dovetail etc. etc.
Real textures and the file is ready to 3D Render for the client if they want one. Had a customer who, after seeing the render, changed how the top was glued up grain-wise. SO MUCH EASIER to change something BEFORE it is built.
I'm probably never going to learn how to do Sketchup because I don't have the patience for this kind of "tutorial". Too much beating around the bush and I lose interest quickly.

@@SketchUp I apologize for trying to learn something from Tyson and the "Peanut Gallery" comments just don' help that. Live, the comments make sense but not for the permanent record.
The issue with this training is the product changes all the time and the training becomes irrellevant because the tools, widgets, buttons, etc. are all different
Can you give an example of what specifically has changed that's affecting you? Some new features are added as they should be but the other core tools should all be the same.
@@SketchUp I guess I am just overwhelmed. I thougt this was a "beginner" guide, but it assumes I know all the things you're talking about. Even the tutorials on Sketchup's learning are not geared towards the free version and show options that are not present, such as the sub-menus under the menu widgets. I guess I'll get better, it's not intuitive to me.

Hey, did you hear that Woody Hyezmar is giving his collection of projects at no cost at all? Go'ogle his latest material, there's a similar project, pretty close to this one, if I'm not mistaken.
As a beginner tutorial, this tutorial was seriously worthless. Way to much banter, contradictory statements. Very little explanation of the tools and how to achieve accurate layouts.

All this work in solid ..is done in 15 min. Woodwork of course. I use sketchup for a long time. it's amazing, but layout is painless.

That is a native command available in the right-click menu only if something is currently selected.
