The drill platoon from the 3rd Company of His Majesty the King's Guard does a routine and training session in Huseby military camp.
The soldiers in the video are all conscripts who serve for 11 to 12 months in a platoon considered to be one of the very best military drill platoons in the world. Although they serve in a more ceremonial company, and do not guard the royal family or the royal residences, they still get their combat training and qualify as good infantrymen.
- A proud unit with a proud history.

For all non-norwegians; This is our kings guard, not our army. They stand for the symbolic meaning of respect and discipline. They are to protect our king, practically protecting the 'castle' from drunk civilians. These people would not be used in combat, though there are sections in the kings guard that they would use, who gets Jeger training. But those shown in this video, are only to show an art of war, a symbol of honor, respect and discipline.
You mean show their dancing skills?
***** If you think this is dancing, you're an idiot. It's a show of discipline, and considering that this is the King's Guard their job is to serve as a symbol of discipline.
Thanks for sharing! I enjoy watching military tattoo and a big follower of the USMC's drill team, I'm impressed the Norwegian can hold their own!
***** The Russian Cossacks are known for their gravity defying dancing skills and martial history, so it means that dancing and war faring do go hand in hand :)
You want to see real action, check out the IDF
Good job Norway, and happy 200th Eidsvoll anniversary!!!
- Respect from Sweden.
These guys have discipline at the highest level !
And we haven't heard of the dude at 1:57 ever again.
Absolutely excellent, I salute you men.
I think I'm obsessed to the sound effects they made.
cool and all but do they have the same skills when it comes to combat? thatll be even more impressive!
its norway, mate. they don't need it
AstridWeien Basically, that goes for almost every modern military unit (at least in Europe).
This is the national kings guard drill unit, they do not train as much combat as the other units in norway
real combat is a total different story
Right, then what is this little show for anyway? I mean, no offence, they did nice, but.. they are just a dance group.
Fan vad snyggt!
I dislike troops, army, wars and all that related stuff, but this kind of artistic stuff is incredible, congratz norwegians!
pfffft, war is what makes the world. Peace is for the weak and the women.
Yes, you are perfectly right.
But, what would happen if a nation is defenseless because of the lack of an army?
The army has to exist, what makes it usefull or useless for the taxpayers, is the way nations use them.
SO cool!
Very impressive, bravo.
wow! Great stuff!
very good drill, nicely done.
killing the enemy with their fabulousness.
Very impressive.
impressive stuff
This is BADASS!
pretty smooth..
I can't imagine the thousands of 'squads' that are involved with learning this drill parade
i'm in love
badass!
this is even more confusing then paiting cannonballs like footballs, either they will win battle with confuse their enemies or they will die in a second while they do clink clong thingy. can't wait to figure that out.
They will never touch combat, they are the King's Guard and their duty is the protect the king. In reality they are just a ceremonial unit, however they still work as a symbol of excellent discipline.
Kenneth Johnsen In a case of full-on war, Royal Guard serve to protect the home city and members of the court. Therefore, they are always being drilled and put to prepare for the worst.
would love to see them learning this
That's what I call a good trained battle cheerleaders group XD
hahahahahahahaha! i was coming here to point out that it's cool to watch but totally a waste of time to do until I saw your comment!!!
You just made my day :p
its a tradition and about respecting the art of war and combat. i dont agree with you
yeah because when the enemies will attack from every corner they will be glad they have their WW2 ceremonial weapon with them
yamtam pe'er i didnt think it had to be said that they dont do this in an actuall combat, but i guess youre to stubborn to accept that fact. just my opinion after all
Fredrik Johansen Dude I was just kidding, I know they won't use these rifles in combat.
i see how this would be very useful in a war
MJ video
back on my days military fights for justice and freedom!
Anyone know what kind of long guns those are? Looks kinda like M1 Garands.
Yes, they use M1 Garand.
I'm sure that it will give them a huge advantage when they go to war!
Oj vad lillebror är duktig då :) Man får nästan en tår i ögat.
can some please tell me what is the use of this? especially throwing and spinning the gun
its a show for our constitution day, chill out
imagine the hours of practice... endless hours
the you suddenly remember these boys are in there one year service... this is spring in this video... so they have already done 6 month of training.
Impressive! They can start their oun circus! :)
So cool! What rifle is that though? and how does it manage to make so much noise when shaken? :O (yeah, I've never touched a weapon XD)
It's an AG3. And there are two reason it makes so much noise. One is because there are buckles that rattle and the other is because the pummel is made of solid wood so when you slap it as a group, it makes a nice crack.
Its a M1 garand. the same we have at Greek Presidential Guard
igoumenitsas Yup! M1 Garand, seen this up close and it is amazing :D
Thanks guys for the infos!! ^__^
3:03 damn nice!
its cut together watch at the people watching
Are you ready for a dancebattle!!!
President Rufus must be really pleased.
I guess you could say they do this with Military precision.
the serious way of cheerleading^^
now i wanna see their blooper reel.. where they were still practicing this.. XD
Can't load it up to youtube, the country would be banned for lifetime... for use of bad language.
wow, such impressive in the 2014 still the sheeps are so populars
Somebody should use these sounds to make a beat.
holy fuck
someone please make musi out of this =)
I wonder if these hard soldiers realize, that they´re dancing ;-)
I´d be happy to see combat becoming dance off´s. Otherwise I don´t get the reason why to spent tax money on giving them dance lessons.
But never the less: Well done.
i understand what you are saying, but i would say it is called military discipline...
sometimes, you need morale for your troops and you need to show we treat them as people to .....
not just meat bags defending us..
i wonder how often the guy who catches the rifle got stabbed.
Where can i learn to dance like this?
His Majesty's King's Guard.
lol, that one guy that messed up at 1:57 (the dude who left the gun out for too long)
siga tous florous
good robots !!!
Makes you wonder what they do in the military
That's intimidating as ****. lol
(Now imagine all the negative comments if this were an American platoon).
reminds me of catch 22 haha
Remind me of Michael Jacksn, don't know why
They better start making an awesome beat (1:20)
wow, better than Dancecrew Poreotics
ubrukelig aktivitet
they will win all the wars!..in a dance battle.
slow motion riverdance
you rack disciprine!
My eyes 0-0
They still use M1? Borring
Thumbs up for people who watch more than 1
Basically, it's a dance, just in military way. That's it.
which Rifle is that?
I believe that is the .30 Caliber M1 Garand. These weapons are of course only used for display and show purposes.
why?
Now if these guys were competing against Cadet Kelly not even her ribbon dance can save her from this. hahaaha
very neat, but when I was in the army they taught me to NEVER smash the bottom of my rifle on the ground like they do in 00:57. I guess when your army never has to use it's weapons, you can use them for other things.
Its the kings guard, this is just for the show and most likely not even fully functioning rifles. while the guards are on duty they carry H&K G3's, or they might have upgraded to the H&K416 now.
You think they actually use those rifles for shooting? Lel.
Flying Dude They do
I though they were going to girl out to a Britney Spears song or something. That's what usually get popular on the web. But that was quite impressive, too.
Can we get some Michael Jackson music to go along with this, please?
Shouldn't they be doing different stuff with those guns?
Look circus , I love circus :)
1:57 one forgot to return his gun back
That one guy at 1.57 lol
1:56 One guy failed right there hahaha.
if i had king guards i would make them wear shiny golden armor and carry swords xD
That one guy at 1:57 lol
1:10 .. sound is like a car transforming
Hail Queen Elsa of Arendelle!!!....
I mean.....long live the Vikings!!!
Would it not be great if the military in South Africa could do this?
Oh wait, I have to stop laughing first, they would not be able to get of their chairs to start off with.
This is awesome
when your country haven't been in war for so long your military men gets bored
Norway is a nato member and participated in the kosovo war, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Libya.
Also, this drill dancing stuff is very common in USA.
Ikke verst
allah kuuabar
if you look closely, you'll realize they're not robots
They have this in Taiwan since ages ago. It's even an attraction.
Some high school girl teams also do this.
Not saying it's unimpressive, but it's not as big as 9gag tv claims it to be.
HMKG has been active since 1856... There are events that are bigger and a bit more impressive, this isn't the best they can do at all.
The 3rd soldier from the right made a wrong move in 1:57 :D
@ 1:57 the third guy made a mistake...
I was kinda expecting them to dance by the end of the video :/
the third guy failed in 1.56 to 1.58.
They will dance the shit out of the enemy.
That's actually the whole army of Norway.
Norway Strønk!
at 1:56 soldier messes up
I know nothing about military stuff, but what is the point of this? It looks and sounds amazing, but does it really have a purpose? Don't get me wrong i utterly and completely respect these guys :)
This is the king's guard, not army. They train like this to show respect and discipline
imagine the ancient times, bro. back when this tradition started, when swords and pikes were used instead of wars. it's important that the soldiers can mobilize in synch as a unit and not fall apart when on attack or attacked.
Flammablerock The King´s Guard is the biggest battalion in the norwegian army with about 1000 soldiers, officers and NCO´s divided into 6. companies. Of them only the 3rd guards company are trained only in ceremonial duties. The drill platoon, the music platoon and the signal platoon. In total around 150 guardsmen and officers. The rest of the battalion are infantry. Training regular combat and guard duty at about a 50/50 ratio. so in conclusion...they are army.
1:56 FAILLLLLLL
Anw, that's pretty coolllll.......
Start this video, mute it, play Thriller by Michael Jackson in background, then enjoy.
march hemoglobinuria will be the probable consequence...
1:57 fail one..haha,..still great tho.
they must work in Disney land!
