  • Once again using onX Offroad I planned out my next adventure. This day it was both a scouting opportunity and my birthday. While it was a solo trip it was a perfect chance to get out into the wilderness.
The original idea was to get to Panther Rock, a 4100 ft peak in the Santiam State Forest. That idea was quickly vetoed by the first gate I came across. This area had been devastated by a forest fire a few years ago and they have it closed to recoup.
Instead I headed north to Gawley Creek, Cascades Falls and Horse Creek. From there I crossed the Molalla River and headed up along the Table Rock Fork, following a route we took on the Molalla River Run a few months ago. I thought this time I could make it all the way to Joyce Lake. Last time deep snow thwarted our path. Would it be different this time? Come along and find out.
