All I can do is like and subscribe. I depend on "free" services like your's for my escapism. If I find a dollar on the street I will send it to you. I don't understand why people watch videos just to put hate comments on them. Yt has got almost unwatchable with their breathtaking greed, adverts, Premium, censorship ad nauseam and I’ve watched the finest original channels slowly driven away from their shared talents but after paying for Wi-Fi and the price of devices it helps only Google/YT to rip more good people off by chasing them into Paywall platforms. Sadly the real root of the problem is not solved by "begging for money from patrons" or "getting a second job" but by CZcams itself not ripping off creators.
Maybe the issue is not dropping a job at a supermarket for an extremely risky career CZcams is a massive platform, that's the reality of it; you can't expect to succeed. You can't make life decisions off of uncertainty.

Until about a year ago, I was a casino dealer, a career I've spent a total of 20 years. 20 years as a tipped employee, 20 years of fluctuating income, 20 years of automatic smiles regardless of how I really felt or what was happening in my life. Prior to covid, I spent 9 years without taking time off, because if I didn't work, I didn't get tips, and the base wage wasn't enough while I was raising my family. I finally had enough last year...literally couldn't take it anymore. My oldest two kids had left the nest, I had turned 50, and I wondered when I would do what was in my heart. After talking it over with them, I left the casino industry for a warehouse job that is only physically taxing, leaving my mental and emotional energy free to pursue creative endeavors. We're poor af now, but we've got our eye on what actually matters in the short span of our lives. In other words, yes - do what is right for you as a human being, and never doubt that your soul matters more than popularity or money. You're the only person you have to live with every single day, so be you with all your heart.

The saving grace is that I have a friend who rents rooms out of a house...my daughter and I share a space in the basement and I do all the housekeeping in exchange for a low rent. I guess you could call that income of a sort, but I can't spend it. Hoping one day my writing might generate enough that I can just work part time, but I'm not counting on it to make anything. All I know is, once I've published a thing, nobody can take that away from me. Accomplishments are forever.

There's actually a dedicated page for seeing every video from all the channels you're subscribed to, you don't need to wait for CZcams to recommend videos. If you hit the menu button on the top left of the website, it's under "Subscriptions". I hope this doesn't come off as condescending if you already know about it, but I'm sincere in this, since I've been finding out a shocking number of people don't know about it and think subscribing is supposed to just get the videos always sent to your main page.
CZcams recommendations are weird. Reloading videos because they don't interest me doesn't refresh new videos to watch and the topic list at the top doesn't change either
@@Idran It baffles me that people don't realize you can click "Subscriptions" and see all the videos from your subscriptions. I spend 90% of my CZcams time on the subscriptions page. But maybe it's just that I've been using CZcams for so long that I don't realize going to the subscriptions page is akin to rocket science.

We can look to history and see many musicians, actors, presenters, etc., who spent some time as a creative, but their later careers as those who support and or advise creatives. Because YT is still relatively young, it's not something we associate with the medium yet, but there's no reason to think it's impossible. You have built many skills in these years which you might use in other ways, but more importantly, I believe you've proven you can achieve something of note from just an idea and passion. May that passion and ability to build yourself from idea up continue to benefit you, and thank you for everything.
I wish I was capable of lending some financial assistance, but I literally don't know how I'm eating tomorrow (don't worry, I'll figure it out, it's just that the last couple of days before payday are always hard when you're underemployed and get paid bimonthly). I think fewer videos that are better reseached and greater production values will draw better results than a lot of videos. Sometimes less is more. You have 360k subscribers, yet most of your videos barely scratch 10k to 20k views. You have the data to know what themes are interesting or obscure enough to gather people's view time; concentrate on those, with only one or two uploads per week.
Probably was until he found out what it entailed. Alternatively he'd be happy doing the job with the security of employee pay. e.g. making videos for someone else.
TWO SUGGESTIONS: 1) You should probably do a monthly live stream. This could be just for your Patreon supporters but I would not recommend that. Instead, make it available to everyone. You have a likeable personality and that is a great thing to have for a live stream. And while you live stream, you will find some of your viewers will pay to post a Superchat. These can add up quite nicely. I wouldn't do a Tim Pool and only read Superchats, but read non-Superchats when no Superchats are coming in. Don't know what to talk about? Do as many CZcamsrs do on live streams and play a trivia game with your viewers. If YOU did this, I'd "slightly" suggest word trivia. At the end of the game, ask for word trivia questions WITH their answers to be emailed to you for the next live stream. 2) You need to make a video explaining your donor tier system. In the video, ask your viewers what other donor perks they would like to receive and for what tier. A common one that many YT creators do that you don't is show higher tier donors on a separate screen at the end of your videos. As the tiers go up, there will be fewer names so simply make their names bigger to fill up the screen. Give them different titles that connect to your channel's theme. Or royal titles? Or military ranks? This would be a great topic for a live stream. 😉 Add a special drawing for each tier. Maybe even an animation.
if I'm not mistaken, Nebula is not something that you can just become an uploader you need some creator who is already on the platform to recommend you to be part of the platform and then they will take on some kind of team meeting to decide whether you can join as creator or not
You can do algebra doesn't mean you can join Mensa, and I think pay to join Mensa is just a joke, Nebula just work like that, tbh if Patrick have to suffer in current situation, Nebula is not a viable solution for him, Nebula channels like RLL and Wendover are really robust in content creation, production team and already going strong in YT algorithms for years.

Me too. I pay for CZcams Premium so I don't have to see ads, but some channels put them in the videos so I have to deal with them anyway... but not this channel!

CZcams premium does indeed provide money to the creators of the videos you watch. I think it’s actually marginally better than ad revenue but don’t quote me on that.
I sadly don’t think I’ll be able to support you on Patreon, but I do want to support you any other way I can, so I’m buying your books and letting my friends know about your channel!
I will probably have to wait until the 1st of the month because I myself don't have lots of income myself, but I think I can swing one dollar a month. So many CZcamsrs ask for much more (I've seen absolutely ridiculous things like $100 a month) but one dollar to help such a great channel? I think I can probably do that. Plus I've been wanting a name explain video for my name (unfortunately I don't think you do last names) even though its probably pretty boring (its Christina) so until then ill like and engage and hopefully on the 1st I can donate for at least a couple months. YT is your de facto employer. And that employer has been, let's be honest, short changing you. Thus, you look for other options. I know it isn't easy, but it's the logical thing to do. So, you have done the only logical thing. And I commend you for doing that. Stability is a very powerful thing.
Sorry to hear about all this. I'm already a patron and can't afford to increase my tier, being a person of frugal means myself. Those Patreon payments can creep away if you're not careful with them. @@MacLeodddd It's very rare it gets that hot in the UK. Most people don't see the need to have air conditioning installed just for the few days per year (if any at all) that it's really needed. It's probably becoming more common though because heatwaves are becoming more common. I got a portable AC unit I can wheel out for a few days in the summer.

Do what's right for you - keep your current schedule, drop to one or two a week, get a part-time (or full-time) "regular" job, join Nebula, whatever you think will help keep your finances stable enough while keeping stress manageable. I love your work but some recent videos could've been Shorts, not 10 minutes. I know CZcams wants you to upload longer videos, so you could consider combining shorter topics into sort of potpourri videos.
I really understand your situation, maybe since I’ve now studied (and ranted) for over a decade to better understand how “the economy” is not correctly described to us mere mortals. I’ll leave it at that, but will say that ‘failure’ in our real (actual) economy is _not_ down to individual choices out of a larger context. If that were true, you’d be alone at ‘failing’ - and you’re not… (ref. so many comments here, and other channels/creators…) My Patreon “budget” is stretched already, but I hope me being on Premium as I enjoy your content helps a tiny bit. If not, well - YT has a corporate problem. Not your nor my ‘personal’ failure is to blame there… Best of luck, and hopefully allow yourself to make fewer videos to alleviate the stress…

To make it this far with less than a handful of million view episodes is great. It’s like making it to the minor leagues of pro sports. It’s a great accomplishment but you can’t sustain it. It’s fun to not have to get a real job for a few years after college, but few can be lifelong stars. Still a huge success so congrats 🎉🎉🎉.
I'll gladly keep supporting you on Patreon, but I'll say my main thought has been that you can make some very interesting vids, but you're just making too many of them and can't spend your time with each of them, letting it bake in the oven for a second. I'd say you could release a video once every two weeks or a month and make it an absolute banger. I'd think that'd help everything in the long run
I apologize for not keeping up with your videos better. I got a paid membership to CZcams so i could skip all the frustrating ads. When I'm watching on Steve's account (as when I cast it to the tv) I often skip the ads, though I know the creator doesn't get paid unless I let both ads play in full. That's fine if the ads are short,though the longer ads pay better; unfortunately, I can't watch several 40-minute infomercials a day, nor do I want to watch people trying to sell me tactical gear and boner pills just so I can watch on the TV (harder to make comments that way, and it ties me to the house). When I'm driving, it's harder to choose the videos I want to watch, and the algorithm isnt as personalized as YT wants us to think it is because your videos almost never show up as suggestions for me, nor do videos for the other creator I support on Patreon because I treasure their content. Nope, YT suggests the videos THEY want me to watch, and that's why im a month behind on the ones I'm actually subscribed to. So it's more a problem with YT than with you. Unfortunately, since you're self-employed, YT is the closest thing you have to a boss, and they make you sweat blood for that privilege. You might look into posting your videos on Nebula, which is a platform built by creators for creators, and if you find someone you like who's already posting there and join with their code, everyone wins. I understand Name Explain's frustration. He has over 350,000 subscribers and under 500 people on Patreon. If just 1% of his subscribers did Patreon at $1 a month, that would be over 40 grand a year for income. What I want to know is how many ads did I need to see on your channel for you to get the equivalent to $12 a year. I just have no clue of the ad revenue rates.

There are simply too many content creators. There's not enough time for viewers to watch and support them all.

I think fewer videos that are better reseached and greater production values will draw better results than a lot of videos. Sometimes less is more. You have 360k subscribers, yet most of your videos barely scratch 10k to 20k views. You have the data to know what themes are interesting or obscure enough to gather people's view time; concentrate on those, with only one or two uploads per week.

TWO SUGGESTIONS:
1) You should probably do a monthly live stream. This could be just for your Patreon supporters but I would not recommend that. Instead, make it available to everyone. You have a likeable personality and that is a great thing to have for a live stream. And while you live stream, you will find some of your viewers will pay to post a Superchat. These can add up quite nicely. I wouldn't do a Tim Pool and only read Superchats, but read non-Superchats when no Superchats are coming in. Don't know what to talk about? Do as many CZcamsrs do on live streams and play a trivia game with your viewers. If YOU did this, I'd "slightly" suggest word trivia. At the end of the game, ask for word trivia questions WITH their answers to be emailed to you for the next live stream.
2) You need to make a video explaining your donor tier system. In the video, ask your viewers what other donor perks they would like to receive and for what tier. A common one that many YT creators do that you don't is show higher tier donors on a separate screen at the end of your videos. As the tiers go up, there will be fewer names so simply make their names bigger to fill up the screen. Give them different titles that connect to your channel's theme. Or royal titles? Or military ranks? This would be a great topic for a live stream. 😉 Add a special drawing for each tier. Maybe even an animation.

you need some creator who is already on the platform to recommend you to be part of the platform and then they will take on some kind of team meeting to decide whether you can join as creator or not

You can do algebra doesn't mean you can join Mensa, and I think pay to join Mensa is just a joke, Nebula just work like that, tbh if Patrick have to suffer in current situation, Nebula is not a viable solution for him, Nebula channels like RLL and Wendover are really robust in content creation, production team and already going strong in YT algorithms for years.

CZcams premium does indeed provide money to the creators of the videos you watch. I think it’s actually marginally better than ad revenue but don’t quote me on that.

Plus I've been wanting a name explain video for my name (unfortunately I don't think you do last names) even though its probably pretty boring (its Christina) so until then ill like and engage and hopefully on the 1st I can donate for at least a couple months. I'm a crane operator/welder and sometimes a chemical mixer. It's a lot of exhausting work, but I do envy your job since you're in a comfy chair in an air conditioned room! That's an odd combination of job titles you hold. But yeah, I've worked in plenty of shops in Texas without air conditioning and it can be rough.

It's probably becoming more common though because heatwaves are becoming more common. I got a portable AC unit I can wheel out for a few days in the summer.

I love your work but some recent videos could've been Shorts, not 10 minutes. I know CZcams wants you to upload longer videos, so you could consider combining shorter topics into sort of potpourri videos.
I really understand your situation, maybe since I’ve now studied (and ranted) for over a decade to better understand how “the economy” is not correctly described to us mere mortals.
I’ll leave it at that, but will say that ‘failure’ in our real (actual) economy is _not_ down to individual choices out of a larger context. If that were true, you’d be alone at ‘failing’ - and you’re not… (ref. so many comments here, and other channels/creators…)
My Patreon “budget” is stretched already, but I hope me being on Premium as I enjoy your content helps a tiny bit. If not, well - YT has a corporate problem. Not your nor my ‘personal’ failure is to blame there…

I'll gladly keep supporting you on Patreon, but I'll say my main thought has been that you can make some very interesting vids, but you're just making too many of them and can't spend your time with each of them, letting it bake in the oven for a second. I'd say you could release a video once every two weeks or a month and make it an absolute banger. I'd think that'd help everything in the long run
I apologize for not keeping up with your videos better. I got a paid membership to CZcams so i could skip all the frustrating ads. When I'm watching on Steve's account (as when I cast it to the tv) I often skip the ads, though I know the creator doesn't get paid unless I let both ads play in full. That's fine if the ads are short,though the longer ads pay better; unfortunately, I can't watch several 40-minute infomercials a day, nor do I want to watch people trying to sell me tactical gear and boner pills just so I can watch on the TV (harder to make comments that way, and it ties me to the house).
When I'm driving, it's harder to choose the videos I want to watch, and the algorithm isnt as personalized as YT wants us to think it is because your videos almost never show up as suggestions for me, nor do videos for the other creator I support on Patreon because I treasure their content. Nope, YT suggests the videos THEY want me to watch, and that's why im a month behind on the ones I'm actually subscribed to.
So it's more a problem with YT than with you. Unfortunately, since you're self-employed, YT is the closest thing you have to a boss, and they make you sweat blood for that privilege. You might look into posting your videos on Nebula, which is a platform built by creators for creators, and if you find someone you like who's already posting there and join with their code, everyone wins.
