Kintsugi - A Japanese Inspired Guitar Build

  • Last year I received a batch of wood that sadly shattered during transit. It got me thinking, how can I rescue this beautiful wood.
That's when the idea hit me. I needed to embrace every crack, every imperfection; make that the central feature of the design itself.
Kintsugi is a Japanese artform that uses golden glue to repair objects and make them whole again. This would be my inspiration throughout this guitar's creation.

Guitar build videos are plenty but this, this is different. There is conscience Artistry happening with your work. The hands are just following your mind and your heart. That makes you a little more special than others. I subbed ya because I admire your attention to detail.

Nice job , I enjoy watching these videos. I watched one yesterday where the guy made a beautiful Les Paul style guitar out of an old door and incorporated the brass hinges into it. It was amazing , there's a lot of people here who have mad skills. I would love to try this but I don't have the proper tools , I built a Tele. But it was from a kit , I painted it and installed custom parts and it was extremely enjoyable. Can't wait to do another!

It's going to be a Strat-like alder body with a maple top. No tremolo but a fixed brigde. The neck is going to be a prebuilt one because I want to learn piece by piece how to build an electric guitar. I am focussing on building the body now. With the next guitar that I will try to build someday I will try to also build the neck myself. I always wanted to build my own electric guitar but I never really dared to try it, because I didn't want to waste valuable wood just because I did mess up.

    • @struttmusic487
