- In this video I show the official gameplay of the new things that appeared during the event minecraft live 2022 for minecraft 1.20 update (Announcement). Camels, Bamboo Blocks and stuff (few stuff but the update will probably be bigger when it officially launches).
The update officially launches in 2023 for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Android, IOS, Java, and Windows 10. But you'll be able to test the features in beta and snapshots later this October!

I ... I honestly didn't think he would ever put such a specific animal. Normally he limited himself to taking somewhat generic animals.
I get the sensation that Mojang is a bit directionless at the moment. Getting the community involved is a great thing ofcourse, but isn't that already the case with the whole feedback system? Players want things like an end update and Mojang knows that.
It’s obviously gonna be an exploration update similar to a part 2 of the wild update lmao the announced features are gonna start coming to the game
They don't want to upsett the community so they adding things we've always wanted like functional bookshelves
Yes, but we also want a real wild update, an archaeology update, a combat update, ik thet end update is so asked for, but i think that other players that whan another change on gameplay and have waited way more have the right to have our gameplay overhauled, for example the 1.8ers, or the nature and biodiversity lovers like me, or the lore fans like me and other ones.
I'm mad they showed Camels but no cactus flowers 🏜️🌵 or Oasis 🏖️ or no new trees 🌲 this should have been desert update 🐪

Actually really like this update I’m sure there will be more content but the randomness of things added kind of makes it feel nostalgic, like an old update
My thoughts exactly. Themed updates are cool, but the variety found in the old updates was so interesting.
For people worried about the lack of content, they said they were only revealing things that were very late in development, so there’ll be more stuff!
Okay, but they managed to finish only a few features... They had a year. A YEAR!

the direction to go with this update is definitely revamping what’s left. they showed the badlands, and desert in this which have been announced to, but have yet to receive their updates. in my opinion that’s probably exactly what we’re getting; a polishing update. everything that needs more (bamboo as an example) will get more. they just update the remaining biomes, including the end, and add any small features to features that seem unfinished (bamboo as an example again)
They haven't really announced development on the other biomes. All they said was that every biome in the biome votes would receive and update some time in the future, but the winner of the votes is going to prioritized and will be released first.
I Hope they will add more uses to Copper and Ametyst
Hopefully those biomes do get updated. Would be awesome
It's been year they say that at every mob/biome vote. With archeology and other stuff like that. They getting late and late on countless feature. It would really be surprising to see those again
i mean they also said that every mob in the mob vote would be added in 2017 but the winner gets priority as well and they havent kept their word on that either.

I hope they add more Mythological stuff to the game above ground. Because it feels like it’s just only real life mobs being added or stuff that is natural
They're trying to make it feel as real as possible without making it too out of the ordinary

it might be, remember the ostrich, termite, meerkat, and vulture all live it hot biomes
If it's a desert update a cool thing to see in game would be a desert oasis. It would add new plants for decoration, palm trees, and new fruits. Not to mention make deserts a more hospital environment
I suspect that they will add a lot of stuff that builders can play around with. The bamboo wood, new bookshelves, and hanging signs are really cool. I can't wait to use them!
Bookshelves being actually usable will be fantastic! And the hanging signs? Definitely looking forward to not having to place a sign on a bit of chain to simulate a hanging sign!
There will be more, camels, sniffer, bamboo stuff, rafts and library movement I REPEAT ARE JUST TO BE SHOWN for now, update 20 will be more diverse if people give it more time to settle, let’s call this half the explorers and revolutionaries update
A nice detail about bamboo materials, is that in a 2d Minecraft Fan-Game, they have been around for a long time, having the raft, the blocks, the door, among others. I think it's almost impossible for Mojang to have taken inspiration from this one, as it's a bit obscure: "MineBlocks".

This would have been a good opertunitu to add all the pervious biome vote features that didn't make it into the game. These would be the Savanah, desert and Bad Lands which fit the desert theme.
I love getting smaller updates because they're not getting delayed or removed
Yeah Minecraft is really fun as it is, we don't need huge changes every year, just some neat little additions, which is exactly what we're getting. Honestly I love 1.20 so far

This time, we will be gradually announcing all the things that are coming to your Overworld in the next update. In only a matter of weeks, you will be able to test and send feedback on early iterations of the camel, hanging signs, and bamboo crafting in snapshots and betas!”
This is very cool I suggested camels a few years ago on Minecraft feedback but I had a different use as well, I said they should be rideable by 2 players but I also said you should be able to put a double chest on them for even more storage than a donkey

I like new bookshelf mechanics, i hope they also work with redstone mechanisms like "hidden doors" or else stuff, it eould be good idea for hidden storage in base or smth

This music feels like some kind pre-boss type stuff, so powerful, yet calm.
The primary part of it being cheerful, and whimsical, fantasy like, but in the "background", it has a foreboding feel to it, the choir, the royal like drum kick, something that makes you feel something is approaching... like something is off...

Definitely seems more like a "everything all at once" sort of update, where they add miscellaneous features that don't exactly fit with eachother, which I love for such a big update. I suspect they're gonna add archaeology in this too, but idk

@@josephdavies3091 the problem with 1.19 is that they announced birch forest as an intended feature and they dont added it and did not improved any biome, the problem is not to show things, but cutting them then.

Seems like Multicultural Update would be a good name for this update at the moment with new default skins of different peoples and new features being added to different biomes (camels in desert, rafts in jungle).
Also, rafts should have sails so they differ from boats. Any excuse for sails...

This really brings out the exploration aspect of Minecraft!
Archaeology may be part of the update considering the mob vote coincidentally takes place exactly on international archaeology day. Just a speculation though.

I predict: an adventure update of sorts. Themed around deserts (camels) jungles (bamboo) and temples/artifacts. The chiseled bookshelves are a good fit, sniffers and their correlation to history and ocean temples, archeology itself possibly. Itd be a good update to go more in depth with lore too
I was kinda hoping for a dimensions update. There was a (small) rumor that they were planning to incorporate the Aether mode. More realms/dimensions to explore would be amazing.

I feel like 1.20 is the redemption update. There not overhyping it like in the past and there letting the community be way more involved. They know they have upset people with the last few updates (looking at you wild update). Overall I’m interested to see how it’s going to be at the time of release.
Cool year after year it gets cooler
It's cool to have ideas for what you want in a game and even feedback, but at the end of the day it's their game, and a really good and loved one at that. This update seems so epic and adventurous and just fun. I feel like exploring with my friends after watching this. Unlike a lot of people I will openly admit that this is my opinion, but still.

The rafts should go into random directions but have much more health. So theres a differnce between a raft and boat

since hanging signs in the feedback, the one I saw a Wood Classic Hanging Sign, but new hanging signs is better, Finally Mojang add a hanging signs for like a very long time

For people saying it's a small update. It is, and ik saying this isn't the only features is gonna sound annoying. And I get it, I was sorta also disappointed with how little they showed when they have a couple of months. But remember:
They really took feedback at the last Minecraft live and that's why they decided to only show late development so it doesn't happen again. They also had to do concept art, designs, research, coding, porting it to all other consoles, make these features usable for development and mod making. It's not as simple as mod makers remaking the whole update within a day because these changes/updates they do effect their company and franchise.
If mojang actually gave a crap about the community I think it would’ve responded to the whole chat report system thing, in a way That wasn’t just a bunch of woke people and obsessive developers trying to defend the update and criticise those who didn’t like it. And it’s not like this update is gonna be secretly huge or anything when 1.14 and 1.16 ( which was during f*cking Covid ) could propose huge updates and then secretly add more features. It’s just bullsh*t that we wait for a year and then get told to keep on waiting, and listen, I knew the warden wasn’t gonna get added to caves and cliffs before pretty much anyone else, and I also predicted the wild update would be underwhelming before everyone else too, so I think I know my stuff. 🥲

Yea I understand your frustration about waiting a year and getting a underwhelming update. But I’m confused when you said you are upset when Mojang doesn’t deliver their promises and has to spread one update across multiple updates because it was too much for them, but then being angry that this year we got an underwhelming update? Did you want another announcement that included the next trilogy of updates because they couldn’t handle it? That’s them learning.
And wdym by you know your stuff? From your message, it doesn’t seem like you know how hard development is and how the workplace and development is at Mojang.
